Not the best finale
sini-2002 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Finale of season six seemed to be good by the premise and anticipating of Caskett weddding happening. Though i have to say it felt a bit off with the whole episode story, and had too much unnecessary drama and stuff happening that could have easily been avoided to be honest. The whole thing with Beckett being married to that guy felt too OOC for me and just bad writing to create the silly drama just before their wedding. Surely she would have known about it, being married and all... it would have been better without the ending too, with Castle kidnapped, creating more drama that was not necessary.

sub-par episode
Scrugulus15 November 2016
The episode is fun in itself, and not that much out-of-character, actually, compared to others in earlier seasons. So, for me, there would nothing be wrong with the tone of the main plot in itself. But the ending is tonally completely different from the rest of the episode; and everything is bent and forced into that kind of season-ending that all TV shows nowadays believe they must manufacture. The other problem with the tone is that it feels jarring compared to the tone of the previous episode, which was so much darker (which is, of course, only "jarring" if you watch them on a DVD set, back to back, not one week apart on TV).

On the bright side, the acting by guest stars Scottie Thompson and Eddie McClintock is delightful.

An excellent episode to miss
BKunkle23 May 2014
Castle is my favorite TV show. The writing is normally absolutely first-rate and I have tremendous respect for Andrew Marlowe, series creator.

That said, this episode was a tragedy--and that's hard to write about a show I love so much. If you missed this episode, I say, good for you! Nevertheless, I will not give away the plot. I do totally agree with everything Rich-494 said in his earlier review. They really did rip off an old Bones plot (which was waaaay better) and the main guest star was even a semi-regular on Bones.

What you need to know is that the feel and the style of this story are totally unlike what you've come to expect from Castle and that, in this case, is really not good. Beckett is forced to confront more and more preposterous obstacles so that you soon feel totally manipulated. The whole thing is campy slapstick and irritating. Then, just when the program shows signs of becoming enjoyable, the unoriginal cliffhanger pops up and the credits roll. (Who would want their name on this one anyway?) If you feel compelled to watch this, wait until next season so you can (hopefully) see the resolution of the plot and get the bad taste out of your mouth. Or just watch any other episode; they are all way better than this.

Just about the worst Castle episode yet
rich-49419 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I marked this review as containing spoilers, but it is hard to believe that anything could spoil something this rotten to begin with. First they steal a central plot element almost word for word from an old Bones episode. (Jake Hodgins's and Angela Montenegro's first wedding was called off in exactly the same way. "Stargazer in a Puddle" May 2007) Then they end it with a totally hackneyed cliffhanger. The meat in the middle of this trope sandwich was nearly as bad even with the talented Eddie McClintock and Scottie Thompson as guest stars. The plodding plot limps from one contrived wedding mishap to another, as Castle and Beckett pursue her soon-to-be ex. There is a complete absence of the intelligence and aplomb we have come to expect from their characters. Even their banter comes across as stale and forced. We can only hope that the real writers of Castle were on vacation, and a couple of fifth graders from a remedial English class actually wrote this travesty.

Worst. Episode. Ever.
zombiemockingbird7 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's just stupid from beginning to end. Everyone in it is annoying and Beckett acts like a moron. How on earth would Beckett not know she's married? She's a cop for God's sake. Like someone else said, no background check showed a marriage? Yeah right; that didn't happen. It's predictable and ridiculous and it just keeps getting worse. This story is the Swiss cheese of episodes; totally full of holes. No one as obnoxious and offensive as her "husband" could have survived this long. Then the cliched cliffhanger of Castle disappearing on the way to the wedding. Do the writers really think we're stupid? This may have been written by toddlers; it's a good one to skip.

Were the writers already on vacatiion??
bitman220 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Exactly as above,Plot holes big enough to drive a Semi through,(Beckett not only married, but doesn't know it,Fact that it never showed up in ANY background check but a Clerk at City Hall finds it.) Beckett being blackmailed into breaking into a Car(a pretty serious offense) and one would think someone who has Becketts Backgoround(up to now) would NEVER ever do under those circumstances. The total Disaster of an ending wasn't even the worst part of this Poorly written ,Poorly thought out excuse of a Castle episode.

TERRIBLE writing,NOTHING original in the WHOLE episode, Was as though the episode was written by 5th graders for a KG audience. If not for Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic this would have been a complete WASTE of time.

everything about this particular episode is WRONG
queenstar-931-98931129 June 2014
ITA with the other reviews on how awful this episode was. i thought i had saved the episode to watch for when i needed a "favorite" show to enjoy!! needless to say this was NOT enjoyable on any level. as a matter of fact i needed everything i had to continue watching until the pathetic ending. normally i refuse to force myself to watch awful content. i hope i can remember to care enough to watch next season. at this point i don't even care if they marry each other as long as they continue to work together. to end up having the wedding in the hamptons after all the dumb drama about choosing a site ? although i will give a plus on the mention of the transportation of the "mostly flown in" guests by alexis. i wonder exactly who had kate's number to call her directly about her fiancé's tragic accident DURING her wedding instead of having someone break the news gently to her and why did all the people at the wedding who love them allow her to go to the scene alone!!! personally, if anybody thinks it's believable that the just arrested mobster put out a hit on rick from FBI custody, that it's the 3x killer, or bracken getting even by tracking them to the wedding--well i won't have that either. after all these years i need a whole lot more than just the joy i felt when that horribly ugly dress was destroyed!! this should have been an episode of love, humor, and romance for everybody in the cast.
