Love is truly blind ...
Cuckoo(2014) Review: Finally watched cuckoo after the excitement and expectation created through the trailer. Here is my view on the movie: The story is about two visually challenged people falling in love and their struggle. The plot also showcases the normal living style of those people like their normal dailies and routine. So in that way this seems to be attractive and refreshing concept for Tamil cinema.
Strength: Performances by both leads. Though the lead actor male has strained a lot to fit the role and has justified it, but towards the end of the movie his character goes too melodramatic and becomes cinematic. On contrast were as the female lead remains stable from the starting to the ending so definitely Malavika Nair did a splendid job and really makes us doubt that it is her debut movie. Then music by Santhosh kumar was sensational particularly the nos like "Aagasatha" " Manasula surakathu" and "Kodaiyila".
Weakness: To say the screenplay was so slow and certain areas in the movie we feel its repetitions of scenes. So it goes so long more like a Tele-film and art movies type. So it lacks grip on the tale. Fails to create hard hitting feeling like "Deiva thirumagal" or of "Mozhi" or "Anjali" . Some logic holes in the plot like to mention one in the climax scene were heroine senses the hero after a long time gap but failed to sense him when he was right next to her.
Overall I would say 4.5/5 for performances, music and concept of True blind love, 2.5/5 for the screenplay. -Reviewed by Sivakumar Balachandran)
