I had no idea when I watched this that it was a television film. My knowledge of the Russian language is almost zero and I just took pot luck with it. Up until now I have seen most of the great ' artistic ' films from the Soviet Union and I was intrigued to see what the normal Russian sees, and I was pleasantly surprised. A simple story of a woman in her thirties, burdened with a troubled son, and far too many commitments in helping others and avoiding her own needs. By accident she meets a doctor a few years younger than herself, and suddenly her ' committed ' world is thrown into disarray. No spoilers, except to say that the acting was excellent and I could not fault it. Well filmed with a Petersburg background it slowly drew me in, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to see a well told story, and for those to understand the human heart is the same everywhere,
