Back from the dead
Tweekums6 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
It looks as though Aayan Ibrahim will accept Carrie's offer of a place at a London teaching hospital in exchange for information but before that he claims to need some money for reasons he won't explain. Carrie has him followed and is shocked to discover who he meets; none other than his supposedly dead uncle who was the target of the drone strike! Meanwhile Saul is asking questions of Pakistani intelligence to try to find out why the previous station chief was killed and the ambassador's husband is revealed as the source of information being leaked from the embassy.

This was a solid episode with some nice twists; most notably the revelation that Aayan's uncle is still alive… it seems he is going to be the chief bad guy of the current series given how much trouble somebody went to to make the Americans think he was dead. The revelation about the ambassador's husband was also a bit of a surprise and hopefully that plot thread will go somewhere interesting in the upcoming episodes. On the down side the final scene where Carrie seduced Aayan seemed somewhat forced and rather unlikely; even for somebody as dysfunctional as her. As always the cast did a solid job and it was nice to see Art Malik appear as a Pakistani general; he is still the go-to guy when producers want a South Asian with an Oxbridge accent.

I'm trying hard to come to terms with the reality of an outstanding blonde haired, unveiled, woman, freely roaming about the streets of Islamabad !

Carrie the Parasite

Warning: Spoilers
This women.. the list of lies and doing whatever she need to get what she want is just crazy. She forces her way into everyones lifes till she manages to kill them all. She bombs childrens and women to death and dosent even care. Atleast Quinn killing children and women gives him nightmares and you can see that it makes him crazy. Because thats how a normal person would be effected by it. Even if its his job and we all know a sick one he is still not okey with half of what he does.. but for Carrie its like smoking another sigarret.

''Well we just bombed 10children but we are just doing doing our job''

Who can forget when she tried to sell sex to Saul in season one when he threatened her by sending her to jail for the illiegal surveillance on Brody. And later she slept with brody to get information out and now she crosses another big line by sleeping and using this poor young kid.

A horrible mother and human this women. She is just like a parasite and psychopat.

Grating Tension Is Back
RyanCShowers25 October 2014
The area where "Homeland" never fails to bring quality showmanship is the technical areas. The cinematography of this season, this episode in particular, is chiller, which adds to the vital suspense "Homeland" needs to be in top form. The grating tension is very present in "Iron in the Fire", as well as the general plot elements operating to a profitable result. The show has been taking criticism for Carrie's development so far in season four. First with the unsavory baby-drowning "moment of weakness", and now with manipulating the impressionable, young Ian. As someone who denounced the horrid bathtub scene, I cannot say this is as ludicrous, but that does not mean this is going to drive the plot to the palace of acclaim the show once received. Can "Homeland" maintain its lauded character of Carrie Mathison without Brody? First impressions suggested yes, but each episode makes that initial review more unstable.

Grade: B

I, I, I, I

This inability to see a coworker in pain is getting redundant. Carrie with her I want, I need, I, I, I verbiage, has me wondering how she can be appointed to such an important post. Yes, she's good at what she does. But her lack of empathy for a 'friend' is clearly sick and twisted. Everything is all about Carrie. Makes it hard to route for her. In fact, I'm hoping she crashes. Her whole life is the agency. No humanity left, unless it's about her. No, I don't like this season at all

Warning: Spoilers
I am so over Carrie screwing her way into her mark's confidence. This is a distressed young boy and she thoroughly takes advantage in an utterly disgusting way. I had to leave the room - I can't watch this.

Not this again!

Warning: Spoilers
This show has raised some serious questions on the working of CIA operatives in the previous three seasons. Although a good story line, Carrie Mathison being mentally unstable and heading a the CIA headquarters at Islamabad (bummer); this episode again takes it a bit too far. Things a CIA head at a country like Pakistan does:- 1. Gets screwed by every criminal/suspect/terrorist. First Brody, and now Ayaan. That must be what being a CIA head is all about, of course! 2. Sets up her own covert station and calls whoever she wants, including Quinn. It seems like CIA is a freelancing job for its operatives. Go wherever you want, do whatever you want to. Isn't that right, Quinn? 3. A LOT of other things, which presumably, any Government official shouldn't think of doing. With Mandy Patinkin doing in incredible job, this show is becoming as fictional as Game of Thrones, in a bad way of course. It's high time when Carrie Mathinson should be shown as a real CIA operative and stopped getting humped by terrorists and planning taking down intelligence agents at her whims and fancies. I would go with a 5 out of 10 for this episode, where story writers have done a very creative job, but have failed to keep it real.
