A crime against the film industry

If that drunk idiot can call himself Hercules, I can call myself Emma Watson. This movie is only fun if you hate films.

I really believe that even the actor's parents are ashamed of this garbage. I have no words for the acting, because yes, it is that bad.

Even the large, very large, amount of blood couldn't save it. It was ketchup and I swear I saw jam once or twice.

It can't come as a surprise that, besides the actors and special effects, the movie is historically incorrect. The clothes are ancient roman, not ancient Greek. With the amount of make-up used it's like they weren't even trying.

If you want to lose 2 hours of your life, I recommend this movie. If not: RUN. LIKE. HELL.

bad bad bad and bad

This movie qualifies as a B movie it is bad from start to finish, the plot is paper thin, the story is weak, the movie is called Hercules but why was he in this movie is the question it is more about the general and hes princess girl friend, the actors in the movie cant act at all, the battle scenes are just awful especially when Hercules makes this wrestling back flip onto a enemy soldier!!!, Herculus is supposed to be the son of Zeus yet he has trouble fighting the main bad guy even being beaten by him!!

i rated this movie 2 stars and then i was being generous!!!

why would anyone make a movie called Hercules and then not let the movie be about Hercules ,he is in the movie but hes story is a sideline story!, Hercules has the power of 20 men yet has trouble beating up a simple mortal, ye right!!! all in all glad i did not pay to see this movie because then i would demand my money back asap! its a low budget movie with low budget actors it should go directly to DVD and skip the cinema!

Should have spent more time on the story...

I love history and movies about ancient times and was eager to watch this movie. Unfortunately, the movie just didn't do it for me. Story is very narrow and almost pointless - there's pretty much no story or anything behind the possible story. You are pretty much watching a bunch of men fight for the whole movie with a little understanding why. Acting is probably some of the most horrible I've seen in years. Fight scenes look extremely fake. The "extras" used for background fights and for general movie roles probably were never in any movies as they look lost. I was laughing a few times while watching as I could not believe producers and directors let this go for production. Even swords look fake(plastic and dull)!

I feel like I wasted 1.5 hours of my time that I never get back. This isn't 300 or anywhere close to it.

The only reason I gave it 2 stars and not 1 because I liked the architecture,scene designs and wardrobes.

One of the worst movies i have ever watched, knowing Greek mythology this has nothing to do with anything Greek, after troy , 300 and Alexander the great this is the worst parody i ever watched, some people must go first to school and then to try to make a movie that contains mythology, is the least tragic! the names...the story.... the clothes....the place....nothing Greek! 1.Hercules was not an alcoholic as he is presented 2.the names in the movie are totally wrong 3.the city looks more like Jewish than Greek 4. Greece is not a desert like in the movie 5. the suits in the movie are from ancient rome not Greece 6. not even the weapons!!! really don't waste your time to see this, better watch the smurfs are more realistic than this monstrosity.

this is not a movie, it's a bad joke.

shame on the producers, director, cast and all involved.

blood and sex don't always work, desperate ones.

bad characters, awful script... the acting... it's not acting, it's ... nothing, why would you create something like that? i understand money is always welcome, but, come on, guys, you have your names all over the internet, aren't you feeling a little bit nasty when you wake up in the morning? or, do you really think this is the way to success? I pity you...

One of the worst movies ever made, with interest. Stop doing that, be true to yourself guys... or, maybe, these is who you are and in that case... I pity you again. And again to make the 10 lines that are a must for this review, but I feel I already spent too much time on your nothing...

A waste of time

If only I could give this a no star rating!!

I cannot find one thing good to say about the movie. The storyline, the plot and lines were all so weak! Even the fighting scenes appeared forced and over-the-top fake. These factors may have affected the acting but I very much doubt it. The lines were delivered as though they were reading right off the script - no emotions, no feelings, terrible acting.

And it saddens me to see Hercules was written as someone who suffered from alcoholism and drug-induced psychosis; he was not the main star of this movie (why call this movie Hercules is beyond me!) the plot was all about Arius.

The movie itself was rather confusing. I don't get why a prisoner caged up still wears shiny lip gloss with perfect brows? Or, for someone who was heavily injured and then passed out, he could suddenly get up and run like he was unhurt (and knew exactly where to go to continue his fight!!). Then there was also Hercules and that royal guard of Nikos', they have these dumb and stupid looks on their faces all the time - I simply cannot tell what emotions they were trying to convey.

I hope the other Hercules movie will be a better one than this - it surely can't be that hard to beat!

worst film

This is one low budget film. the plot is so bad that my two children are laughing at every scene. Even when the movie tries to be serious, its become a laughable comedy due to the acting and plot. Just like watching WWF matches. Purely shouting matches and wrestling moves execution. How is it possible that the army of the king has so few soldiers that a bunch of 30 men could over throw them? Very unrealistic. Princess Theodore just wasn't helpful, most of the time crying and a spectator. Over all this is bad, bad, bad directing, execution, storyline.... Everything is bad. Waste of time. Christina Ulfsparre was a beautiful face and its a wasted talent for her to star in this movie.

surely the script is written while on Cannabis. Storyline is not consistent.

Characters are poorly created. Special Effect used here are WORST in it's kind. fighting scenes are awful. Low grade Actors and Acting. One of the worst movies ever made.

this is not a movie, it's a cruel joke and It's a shame. and this is a crime against the film industry.

watching the movie was a complete torture. and it hurts. it is bad from start to finish.

The Asylum ups the ante.........somewhat.

Giving the lead role in any film to a WWE wrestler is never normally a great idea, unless you're The Asylum, in which case it actually adds to the movie's credibility. In fairness, John Hennigan (or Morrison according to the DVD cover) makes a pretty good Hercules by micro-budget standards, certainly a lot better than Kellan Lutz (really!) did in one of the movies of which this is a rip-off. In fact, this is one of The Asylum's better efforts of late, and a very far cry from their nadir offerings such as 'Dragon Crusaders' and the truly abysmal 'Attila'. The studio's well-publicised maximum budget of $1m looks like it might have been stretched to the limit on this one - the sets, costumes etc. were certainly better than one has come to expect from this particular outfit, it's just a pity the same can't be said for the casting and acting, which for the most part was, well, a bit odd. On the plus side however, the camera work and editing was probably the best I have seen in an Asylum film.

A real curate's egg this one - Asylum fans like me will recognise and celebrate the good bits, while the usual 'worst film ever made' merchants will regurgitate the same old tired criticisms. I suggest you follow my advice - open a bottle, switch off your brain, and just enjoy watching a drunken Hercules body-slam half a dozen Greek soldiers. What could be more fun?

Mediocre but watchable

Compared to what The Asylum often churn out, Hercules Reborn is watchable. Of the movies they released in 2014, Hercules Reborn is the one that came across to me as the best-looking, the sets and scenery are beautiful and give off a very pleasant atmosphere(even if some of what should be Greece looks more like a desert, a nice-looking desert that said), the photography is also nice, the costumes are well-tailored and convincing- although Princess Theodora's hair does take you out of the period-, the action sequences do contain some excitement and tense and are done with enthusiasm(loved the WWE skills between John Hennigan and Marcus Shirock) and John Hennigan has charisma and handles the action scenes very well. The music is not that authentic but is rousing enough, and Marcus Shirock is fun and menacing in a way that Dylan Vox should have been. The bad news however is that Hercules Reborn in my opinion still was not a good movie. Hennigan is fine in the action sequences, but his dialogue delivery is another matter, it's very wooden and the constant burping and the like got tiresome very fast, outside of the action sequences Hercules disappointingly isn't all that heroic and comes across as somewhat of a "knucklehead". The other acting is not much better, James Duval is annoying and never looks at ease, Christine Ulfsparre is beautiful and sometimes spunky but often vapid and looks out of place within the setting and Dylan Vox is more hammy than threatening. The characters are not too interesting either, very stock good and evil characters with not much depth and development. The story(we'll forget for a second that mythology verges between vaguely realised and ignored) while not dull could have been less standard and predictable and have had more thrills and fun, while the script has a lot of talk but a lot of it sounds very forced and rough draft like(ie. "In time, I will skill you in ways to love me.") and somehow too contemporary-sounding. There have been far worse special effects from the Asylum, but the most convincing they ever get is the blood spurting, the rest have a crude and inconsistently proportioned look to them. And while the action is reasonably good, especially for an Asylum movie, there are not enough of them for such a heroic mythical figure, and a lot of the movie feels under-populated. Overall, Hercules Reborn is a quite mediocre movie but it did not come across as a terrible one either. 4/10 Bethany Cox

The plot is pretty predictable and poor. I've found no real excitement or surprise through out the movie. Acting and casting was just horrible. Very unconvincing and somewhat clumsy acting. For me this was a truly sad experience. Here I was expecting a story about Hercules, mythology, wars... And the story turned out to be a classic save the princess cliché without a twist, which I found even more disappointing. Hercules was made no more special than some average Joe. Not enough emphasis on him. Very underdeveloped characters. It's a shame, could've been fun... The effort is obvious in some visual components and effects, but lacks in other places.

I am a BIG fan of this film!!!

and before I get hate mail, let me explain ...

A film like this just highlights how much effort, love, care, budget, detail, attention and thought goes into our favourite films and why we should support this kind of talent in the future.

Without darkness, light cannot shine, nor shine as bright ;-)

This is one of the very best examples or how NOT to make a film I've ever seen. For this, it gets a whole 10 stars from me!

And spoiler alert > It's awful .. You'll have better spent your time if you tried melting your face off using a blow torch and sticking it back together again using macaroni cheese for the details.

So ... it's a low-budget, action/adventure flick that has a rather twisted Hercules as the title character, but not really the lead. And that's all I can say about him without spoilers.

Don't expect anything you've read on mythology, accept the limitations of a low budget, prepare your ears for some strange "things" in the background score, anticipate some kinda-weird fight editing, and you'll be ready to sit back with some snacks and enjoy.

The story itself is fine from my perspective, exactly what a sword-and-sandals action/adventure should be. It's just not a Hollywood blockbuster. 6/10

Complete Torture watching this movie

This movie is no way related to the original versions of Hercules movies, i think the crew could have done more ground work, watching this movie was like complete torture and the dialogues were bad and has no effect at all, the actors were bad, the movie got dragged a lot as well. Damn awful and and very disappointing. A warrior movie should have the right story and right hard work from the crew to make it work, and i could clearly see no one were interested in making this movie. Please if you want to make such kind of movies in the future as well then i would suggest you guys only one thing, you guys have a lot of hard work to do, starting from basics.

This movie was average, I am assuming the budget was low due to the limited extra's not too mention the average acting.

Story line was kept throughout the movie, since a WWE was used as the main character the fighting contained some body slams, flips, choke holds etc.

The place used for the movie was however reasonably authentic, costumes where OK.

I suggest if you watch this movie, order a pizza, some garlic bread and nibbles, beer to get you in the mood and with some friends have some fun if your a WWE fan.

Please trust me - it's an utter waste of time! The ENTIRE "movie" ... if one is so generous to call it that, should be on the cutting room floor.

I would be done at this point, but apparently we're required to write at least 10 lines of text to submit a review. OMG ...

• 90 minutes I will NEVER get back

• Absurd plot

• BAD fight scenes

• Poor melodramatic acting most of the time

• The director should be banned from the industry

• Gosh I hope this is finally enough lines to hit submit!

This is not the Hercules you are looking for

As another reviewer points out, 2014 is the year of Hercules. This is probably one of three or maybe even four. What is almost certain is that you're looking for one of the other ones.

Unfortunately I can't agree with the reviewer who gave this 7 stars. There's no merit in doing something badly. A guilty secret is still bad even if *you* are compelled to like it. You should know deep down it's tripe. Look outward and compare it to a great. Because by greatness (or indeed rubbish) is the 10 star rating defined. If this was a 7 then movies like Alien, Pulp Fiction etc would have to earn another star at least.

Bad acting. Bad script. Bad story. Bad costume. Bad movie. Avoid.

A terrible addition to the Hercules mythology

I accidentally stumbled on this film while searching for the other one with The Rock, believing it was the same one. I was wrong and would end up being subjected to 90 minutes of pretty much nothing.

This film is titled Hercules Reborn, but has very little to do with him. His story is only a side plot and he has very little screen time. It is about Arius and his quest to bring down the guy who kidnaps his girlfriend, Princess Theodora and has taken over the kingdom.

Too many things annoyed me about this film, but I will go into only a few. Firstly the general (can't remember his name) was a complete and total loser. There was no reason anyone would follow him, yet they did without question, even going against their own moral compass to carry out his order. It seemed way too scripted.

Secondly when they do find Hercules, he is just some alcoholic who does not even appear to have superhuman strength. Then later on we learn he has ties to the evil general, which pretty much comes out of left field WTF??? Talk about poor writing.

I won't mention everything else that is wrong with this film, as there is just too much. This is simply terrible cinema and only watch it if you feel like torturing yourself.

Most pointless film I have seen this year.

I'd want to self-abort if I had to be reborn into this world. This was one of the most pointless non-event films I have seen in quite a while. And I have seen some utter nonsense this year! Still - At least the chance to read the reviews made it worthwhile.

Why do people not like this movie? It is a great movie. It has a great story line and great acting. No it is not a 1. It is an 8. This is very good action movie. See it. It is a great movie. Why all the hate?

If you want a cheap action movie that has a favorite Wrestler in it, than this movie is worth watching on Tubi or rent. Sadly the movie is mainly inaccurate to the story of Hercules and the title of the movie is misleading. Hercules tends to not be the focal point although he gets the final main kill at the end. John Morrison known in WWE has the physique and actually makes a pretty good Hercules. The plot is not as bad as most reviewers say it is, although its your basic plot where the evil ruler takes a city by force because of his greed for riches and the hero is sought to save the city. Hercules stricken with sadness for being the one who killed his family turns to alcohol and as the title of the movie finds his redemption and is reborn. It just feels like he was just background to the man whos fiance is kidnapped by the evil ruler. Overall its a B movie and most B movies are cheesy and pretty bad but this one the acting was not raw and was pretty solid for what it is and nothing to cheesy and no cheesy lines. Like I said this movie is not as bad as most say, some just don't see it as a legit Hercules tale but its a movie worth watching it to come up with your own conclusions. If you like action and something to watch check it out.

Why zero is not there for voting? The movie ever saw. There was no dialog. All you hear will be " aaaaaaaaaaaaaa,,, ooooooooo".

Misrepresenting the Hercules Story (No Spoilers)

While some of the acting is acceptable, there's really nothing about this story that connects to the story of Hercules in Crete. No spoilers about the plot, but suffice it to say that it's sufficiently convoluted to be uninteresting. The 2 stars go specifically to the effort of the actors and not to the plot or direction. The quest for a really good Hercules movie continues....
