Are they broken up, or aren't they? It's really hard to tell, but Karma seems to be the one in control of the situation, mostly.

Warning: Spoilers
"Love triangles are very unstable, they always topple over on someone" truer words have never been spoken, and with this episode you are never fully sure who is going to end up the base. Amy seemingly might have done a number on Karma, but it hasn't diminished her feelings for Liam. Though, oddly enough, Lauren uses the whole situation to better her social standing. Something which Shane doesn't take lying down as he seeks to be Liam's Olivia Pope. Thus creating a very dramatic episode which has my fingers crossed for Amy because she could use all the luck she can get.

Topic 1: Breakup Rumors – Amy & Karma

With Karma very weirded out, you are led to assume that maybe Amy being aggressive worked! However, as the episode goes on you are more led to believe that she is more upset Liam kissed Amy than anything else. But Amy still seems in the fight, grappling any little string she can climb on, hoping Karma is at the end of that rope. Though, if he had things his way, Oliver would be the one at the end of the rope. Alas, as we have seen for quite some time, as much drama as Karma causes for Amy, her feelings keep bringing her back.

Topic 2: Out with the Old & In With the New - Lauren

After developing Lauren for a good two or three episodes, they decide it is now time to remind us that she isn't that nice of a person. How you ask? Well with her getting rather tired of her minions, she decides to use the rumor that Liam is the cause of Amy and Karma's breakup to her advantage. With this she rallies Liam's past lovers and through a mutual disdain she tries to make them her new friends. Something Shane spots from a distance and being that he wants to defend his friend, he seeks out Leila and Lisbeth so he can get some dirt to "Olivia Pope" the situation. All we learn though is that Lauren is taking pills. Now, whether they are birth control, ones to keep her skinny, or what? We don't get to know, but considering how shocked Lauren looks when she finds out Shane knows, either this may give her another episode of growth, or mean her getting dragged by Shane.

Topic 3: The Truth of the Matter Is… – Karma, Liam, and Amy

Through the whirlwind which is Amy & Karma's impending breakup, there is Liam on the side. At first he isn't involved until Lauren's boyfriend Tommy opens his mouth, then he becomes the school home wrecker. A title which he seemingly is ashamed of, at least until a heart to heart with Karma. During this talk, after Karma has fixed things between her and Amy, and led the school to believe they are back together, she tries to salvage her relationship with Liam. During this time they speak on how close they got to one another, and damn if they don't go right back to making out and seeming like they are going to have sex.

And you are probably wondering why Liam would agree to this considering the whole issue of him not wanting to steal Karma from Amy. Well, Amy decides it is better to lie to both of them so she can have both. She lies to Amy because Amy is thoroughly sick of hearing about Liam, much less is probably tired of not getting her feelings reciprocated, and Karma lies to Liam because he admits he wanted to be the reason Karma broke up with Amy. Those words ended up being a deciding factor and led to Karma lying about the state of her relationship with Amy.

Naturally leading to another episode in which all hopes for Amy get dashed. For while the kiss did jolt something in Karma, and maybe she is confused, Amy regressing back to the submissive one in the relationship makes any ground she gained lost in one episode. Then, factoring in that seemingly there is only one episode left, you can only hope that Amy really pushes herself in the would-be season finale so that if there must be a cliffhanger, it leaves things in Amy's favor.
