I am from the UK, and it was through a viral video on Facebook that I first saw this show. I loved that clip so much, I looked up other discussions and learned they had a entire YouTube channel with hundreds of episodes to watch, all for free.
This is a phone-in show. And they do screen callers to get the best debaters possible. So not every nutjob looking for their ten seconds of fame abuses the show. However, the religious debaters they get are often Christian orientated and somewhat ignorant on how to argue cohesively. When they cannot answer a logical question, they try changing topics or quoting scripture. That's not the show's fault, its just a common direction that most episodes seem to take.
The presenters are very knowledgeable and strong debaters. Usually out of the two hosts, only one speaks dominantly with the other chiming in when needed to keep the conversation on track. This is great as it prevents too many people talking over each other, and has an independent observer to keep everyone's argument based on a singular topic.
Most the presenters are well spoken, easy to listen to and have decent sound equipment. Sadly, not every caller is the same, with some having poor diction or bad phone reception. It doesn't ruin the show, and its nothing the show can really fix either. But it does mean on occasion, its hard to understand what the caller says.
The debates are often hilarious and highly entertaining. I hope one day, they get some strong believer to call in, who is an equal match for the debaters. Because if anything, its like the smartest man in the world vs. the most idiotic. And sadly you cant really teach a dumb person to be smart over the course of a phone call. But they do try and for that, this show deserves ten out of ten stars!
