Shawn Brought the Characters Back!!!
unxpectedlve8 December 2014
Whoa, I am a huge fan of Boy Meets World since I was a kid, I have seen each episode and I am now about to be 29 years old. I got a 16 year old, born in 1998, into BMW. I loved it LOL. Now, He loves it.

I have been watching GMW because of my love for BMW, and I will tell you that I am in love with GMW , ALMOST as much as BMW. Having Shawn come back this episode, i felt, brought the OLD Cory back!

It was great to see!!!

I think all the BMW cast members coming back have made GMW much more lovable and viewer accepting.

I love how they have tied the old with the new and kept the same momentum of what BMW and GMW really stands for.

Thank you to all the BMW cast and GMW cast and writers for making us fall in love all over again.

We no longer have to be NOSTALGIC about BMW!! :)

Warning: Spoilers
I loved seeing the return of the Matthews family plus the first real on screen introduction to a now teenaged Joshua Matthews who seems to be a sweet and happy, well-adjusted boy. I absolutely loved Shawn's return because you see that despite all the time they have been apart that Cory and Shawn are still best friends and that the Matthews family genuinely loves and cares about Shawn. In this episode not only do we find out what Shawn has been doing for a living for the last 13 years but we see how truly Cory and Shawn are paralled in Riley and Maya especially in the scene where the two friend sets are having the exact same conversation and both Shawn and Maya state that they don't see the similarities in their friendships. My three favorite moments are when Maya stands up to Shawn about his treatment of Riley which prompts him to say, "Maybe you are like me and Cory." When he realizes that like he would for Cory there's nothing Maya won't do to protect Riley. Second is Josh's statement and little song when he and Auggie find Cory and Shawn sitting in Riley's bedroom window. Josh-"Oh, well we interrupt two grown men in a girl's bedroom window for this special announcement. Auggie: "Mom says to come down to open presents." Josh: "We now return to Two Grown Men in a Girl's Bedroom Window. 'They're two grown men in a girl's bedroom window and nobody thinks that's weird-a wink." So great. Lastly is the moment when Shawn sees and Meets Farkle. That whole interplay is hilarious. The way Shawn stares at Farkle cracks me up. Farkle: "Ladies..." As Shawn goggles at him. Farkle: "I'm sorry. Do I have the right house? Shawn ( astonished) : "Minkus?" Farkle:'Yes?" Shawn:)looking at Farkle nervously) "Cory? What's this here?" Cory:(Laughing): "Shawn, This is Farkle Minkus." Shawn: (astonished): "Get out of here." Farkle: "I'm Stuart Minkus' son." Shawn:"Minkus reproduced?" Cory: "Yeah-What do you think he was created in a lab or something?" Shawn: "Look at him." Cory: "Huh, Farkle, Have you ever actually seen your birth certificate?" Farkle: "Huh. If you'll excuse me I have some questions that need answering." This whole by-play is absolutely adorable and Shawn's face through the whole thing is awesome. I also love the conversation at the cafe when Riley grabs his face. Riley:"Look at me." Shawn: " I'm looking at you." Riley: (putting one hand on each of his cheeks and turning his face to hers in a deep voice.) : "Look at Me." Shawn:(With a laughing smile.) "You're Cory with Topanga's hair. You got lucky." This episode is also the beginning of Maya and Shawn's connection which is beautiful. The whole episode is awesome one of my favorite of the season.

Memory Lane
mcneely-patrick9 December 2014
The addition of the old cast made this episode stand out from the rest of the season. The show has suffered from the follies of the early episodes of Boy Meets World in that the early episodes were "Goofy". In Girl Meets World's attempt to capture the feel that made the original series so great it has fallen short and landed itself in the "Goofy" zone. That being said the first Holiday episode is a step in the right direction for the series. The characters came alive and you really see the connection between Riley and Maya mirrored in their predecessors.

The overall plot of the episode serves as a good link between the original show and the spin off. Although, I loved seeing Cory and Shaun's characters rejuvenated I'm worried about adding too much because they stole this episode and the main plot seemed to focus on Shaun rather then either Riley or Maya. In future episodes the writers will need to make sure they don't turn it into the "Cory and Shaun show." Hopefully this episode will be the turning point when the show picks a serious direction and stops trying to Disney-fy each episode. They need to realize that the serious episodes were the reason Boy Meets World had the staying power it did.

Bottom line, if you were a fan of the Original this episode will send you down memory lane with it's references to Boy Meets World. If you are a new viewer you will see where the character archetypes come from and enjoy it just as much. So add this to you watch list.

This is what the show should be like

See this is the trouble this series has compared to the original, it's that the episodes are really that real and are just too Disney and too goofy/fake.

What made Boys Meets World good is that it covered real topics and whilst not perfect, it did capture school life a hell of a lot better than Girl Meets World.

Bringing a few of the original cast back and sticking to the original, real life storylines it what's made this episode great. And at the moment it's the top rated episode.

If the writers continue to write like they did for this episode and stop with the goofy storylines this show can be just as good as the original.

Girl Meets World is a perfect continuation for all things Boy Meets World
kylegreene23 March 2020
Boy Meets World was amazing. Always a huge fan. Shows like Girl Meets World that go down the road as either a reboot or a continuation of an already amazing show have it hard, that is that they have big shoes to fill. But when they actually fill those shoes, it's something that is no less as good as what came before. Shows like Girl Meets World take on a special purpose. They reintroduce us to the good feelings & good times we had then & bring all that back for us to love what's new now. Girl Meets World really is a great show & I honestly think they could not have chosen a better cast.

As a side note, I learned during this episode that Riley & I have the same birthday.
