UK director Stuart Brennan’s medieval action-adventure Kingslayer has sold to Shout! Studios for North America following a deal with Kaleidoscope Film Distribution at the European Film Market.
The all-rights deal includes a theatrical release, expected for the third quarter of 2022.
Kingslayer follows Richard the Lionheart, days away from his coronation, as he struggles with threats to his leadership and a looming civil war. Ryan Gage, David Hayman, John Rhys-Davies, Carolina Carlsson and Ellie Rose-Mackinlay star.
Brennan has also written the feature, with Gareth Wiley producing.
It is the fourth recent collaboration between Kaleidoscope and Shout!

Shooting has started in the UK on Callum Burn’s Second World War thriller Spitfire Over Berlin for Kaleidoscope Film Distribution which is launching the project at AFM Online this week.
Spitfire Over Berlin is about a flight lieutenant in an unarmed solo aircraft on a dangerous mission over Berlin, aiming to save the lives of more than 1,200 airmen. Mpi Media Group has acquired worldwide sales right to Irish director Damian McCarthy’s Frightfest selection Caveat and will introduce the film to buyers at the virtual AFM next month.
