This is an amazing documentary that respects all the best rules of the genre : short, clear, visual and educative ! It doesn't happen very often with a non fiction work but a bit like a movie, the documentary speaks personally to me as Firenze is one of the 3 cities set on my Italian renaissance catholic trip i would like to make one day (with Venezia & Roma). Also it was the city of Dan Brown's « Inferno » so this documentary offers stunning visuals of the places he wrote about ! At last, it was an architectural lesson which is a domain i have now a special interest ! What's exceptional here is that the content is told like a mystery that even a child can understand : why the walls don't fall while they are built twisted and without support! To explain the scientific method, the author finds great authority and illustrates the fact by stunning camera shots and historical documents ! So it's really a full hour of amazement, all the more surprising than the architect didn't let any blueprints and it was the first time he was doing this ! And when you see this 500th years old piece of art build without the today technology, you sure are left speechless with the works of all people who were involved in this beautiful mission !
