Phillip deals with the fallout of the failed attempt to capture Anton whilst Elizabeth pays a visit to Martha.
This is a very strong episode that feels like a conclusion of a two-parter from the previous episode.
I won't go into plot details not to spoil, but it is wonderfully intricate with a number of different but related threads weaving around each other beautifully. As this unfolds we are given excellent character moments that given us development in a cinematic way rather than with heavy exposition. Phillip takes some cutting psychological torment from two separate characters, whilst Elizabeth's relatively comic situation has some very interesting little moments. Stan and Nina's relationship certainly takes an interesting turn, which sets up an intriguing situation for the upcoming episodes.
As with all episodes of The Americans there is a lot of irony how things play out. The interaction between various characters for one and how the overall situation between two nation-states is presented to the media being the other. Credit to the writers for making everything that happens important and impactful in the grand scheme of the overall narrative.
The cinematography, editing and music are as effective as ever and the performances from all are excellent.
