- A woman gets ripped in half. It's very dark so you can't make out a lot of detail but the sounds are pretty graphic.
- Occasional moderate sene of threat throughout related to a mysterious creature that stalks a teenage girl and her grief-striken family.
- Brief sustained attacks involving stabbings and death of children include blood spatter and the use of guns or flame-throwing devices to combat the creature.
- A teenage girl is knocked over and a tendril forcibly enters her mouth in a brief sequence.
- We briefly see a dead man hanging by the neck, but it is not clear whether he has taken his own life or is the victim of a supernatural attack.
- A man breaks his leg with brief graphic injury visible while trying to stand up.

Frightening & Intense Scenes
- The movie opens with a young baby girl being eaten by an offscreen monster. Only a blood splatter is shown but we can hear the creature making disturbing growling noises and the young girl screaming in terror before she is permanently silenced.
- The Boogeyman has the ability to mimic people's voices. Sometimes it sounds distorted and creepy.
- The boogeyman itself when revealed is a terrifying grotesque creature with two layers of skin that sucks the soul out of Sadie
- There is a tooth pull scene in which Sadie counts to 3 but at 2 the door slams shut by a supernatural force and in the process scares Sawyer and makes her cry
- Sadie is locked in the closet by her friends and the boogeyman is inside the closet waiting for her and the boogeyman is making growling which can be very frightening.
- A man commits suicide by hanging in a closet. Noise is implied, but we barely see him.
