I GOTTA GET MYSELF A DRINK
nogodnomasters23 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Buddy (Jamie Kennedy) runs a failing dry cleaning business. His son (Richard Switzer) hates him. His wife (Sara Malakul Lane) has become distant. His only real love is his daughter Molly (Milana Lev). Buddy also has a drinking issue. After losing everything to his cheating wife in a divorce and the bank foreclosing on his business, Buddy goes postal. and takes care of all the things that bother him.

This is a slow developing slasher film. We never got to like Buddy or feel sorry for a guy who is his own biggest problem. As he becomes our only protagonist, we find ourselves in the awkward position of rooting for the guy slicing folks up.

May have some cult appeal, but the characters were just bad.

Guide: F-bomb. No sex or nudity.

WORST Movie Ever
thomasevans5119 February 2015
Started watching this and only got through the first 45 minutes, the acting is terrible to say the least. If i had the chance to give this less than 1 would. It is not often that i turn off a movie but this has to be the worst movie ever. Whatever happened to Randy from scream i have no idea as he is a complete mess and cant act for crap. In most movies like this you are supposed to feel somewhat sorry for the guy but no chance in hell do i feel sorry for him as he is just simply thick. Advice to anyone who is expecting a good film please do not support this film and the director who has no clue whatsoever. There are low budget movies and then there is just plain simple crap which this is.

An Utter Waste Of Time...And Everything Else
nebk4 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Ever hear of the expression this movie has everything. Well this movie lacks almost everything. It is badly scripted, badly acted and has a bad music score. The acting is unimpressive and the characters mostly unlikable. It concerns a regular guy who is placed under more and more pressure by his family, his job, his ex who wants money and his wife who is cheating on him. As a result he goes mental and kills all the people who wronged him. Thats pretty much it. Oh and he uses a chainsaw at times, to appeal to the fans of gore flicks I guess.

Overall a bad story with bad acting, implausible actions by the characters and bad effects. Not the worst movie out there but definitely not worth watching either. A 2/10 and thats only because there are some slightly worse films out there.

What the f#ck?

Man I don't really know what to say. THis movie is so bad. I believe the worst two things about it are 1. The acting. Kennedy was never good in his career but in this he obviously was doing it for a paycheck. All the no name actors were just atrocious. Its really hard to watch without feeling embarrassed. 2. The sound design. Watch for yourself. Jamie kennedy has a blazing guitar solo at one part while playing one note???? The footsteps don't match the video or the proper sound they should be making which makes it really hard to watch as well. And who color graded the thing? The color grade changes mid shot in some scenes!!!! And there is an awful haze over a lot of it. I guess the only real purpose of the movie is to show a film class on what not to do when making and editing a film. 0/10

Wish I Had This 2 Hours Back...
dongillette16 March 2015
I watched this because I remembered the guy from Malibu's Most Wanted and thought he was hilarious in that. I don't think it's a spoiler to say he's no longer hilarious. This was the stupidest acting job I've seen since I watched Keanu Reeves try to speak with an English accent in Bram Stoker's Dracula. It's not that Kennedy is a bad actor, it's just that I didn't care if his character lived or died--he didn't bring anything to it. If you don't care about the main character, what's the point? Really, no kidding, a very lame picture. The first half was promising but after about 40-45 minutes it went downhill so fast it was all I could do to keep watching. Save your money and your time.

This film probably won't help anyone's career.
planktonrules27 February 2015
Buddy Hutchins stars Jamie Kennedy. While he's not exactly a household name and you might not immediately recognize his face, Kennedy has been a busy actor with about a hundred credits. However, I just can't see how doing films like this one will help his career or land him choice roles.

The first half of this film is very good and Kennedy is great playing a guy whose life keeps getting worse and worse and worse. At first you like him and he's trying to do the best that he can, but his sobriety and family life soon start crumbling away. But it gets far worse. In fact, I challenge you to find a film where anyone's life gets THIS bad so quickly! Heck, guys on death row would probably feel sorry for Buddy--it's THAT terrible! I appreciated this and expected that sooner or later Buddy would just snap. And, when he did, it was not his fault. I liked that the first two people he killed were clearly cases of self-defense--it made for an exciting second half. Unfortunately, when the film should have hit its stride, the movie just fell apart and looked almost like a Friday the 13th film--with Buddy brutally killing people who just didn't deserve it. And, many of the killings were frightfully gross (think chainsaws). Because of this, because the second half of the film lacked a plot and the resolution was so poor and because I worry that some folks might enjoy the movie TOO MUCH, I just hated Buddy Hutchins by the time it was over...and it took way, way too long for the final credits to roll by the way. It's all a shame, as clearly Jamie Kennedy is very talented--he did a great job in making you care about him and played an excellent 'dry drunk' (in essence, a guy who isn't using but is still stuck in the sick patterns of an alcoholic).

However, if you do watch this film, look for a very funny mistake. During Buddy's divorce trial, the judge says that the case is in California and there is a California flag behind him. Yet, there ALSO is a state seal for Nevada next to the flag as well. Oops!

Embarrassing
colin-johnson15014 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Watched all the way through on my own. Boy was I glad no-one else was there or the embarrassment factor would have shot through the roof. I was embarrassed watching this alone!

The language is simply unacceptable, often crude and very inappropriate. It's not shocking, it's not cool, clever or remotely believable. It's downright offensive and embarrassing, just don't watch this with anyone you care about.

Basically a rip off of the 1993 Michael Douglas movie 'Falling Down', but without the style or decent dialogue. Bad day gets worse, much worse as the leading character descends into psychosis.

Bad day at the cleaners......
FlashCallahan25 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The titular character is just a normal family man doing his best to support his wife and two kids. A recovering alcoholic, Buddy hasn't had a drink for the best part of a year.

But the only reward for his good intentions is a failing business and a cheating wife.

Include a bounty hunter and an hot-tempered ex for good measure, and Buddy's already short fuse is about to blow.

Pushed over the edge, with nothing to live for, and armed with a chainsaw, Buddy is out for blood.........

If you haven't seen Jamie Kennedy in anything for over eight years, like myself, be prepared, the years haven't been kind to this man, he looks awful, a bloated, pale, sullen man, which only adds to effect of the film.

Whether this is intentional I have no idea, but wow, it certainly impacts on his character. Again, with the amount of comedy Kennedy has in his cannon, I was expecting something tongue in cheek, along the lines of Santa's Slay, something cheap, and throwing in jokes for a cheap laugh, but nothing could be further from the truth.

This is serious stuff, and to say that the titular character has a worse day than Douglas did in Falling Down, is an understatement.

It's wholly unlikely that in the space of a couple of days you could lose, your family, your mother, your business, and owe thousands of Dollars, but this happens to him, and to be fair, even though he's not a likable character, he doesn't do anything wrong, apart form what the story lets us know about his past.

There is a silly sub-plot about murder running in the family that takes the edge from the film, but it's soon disregarded in order to let the carnage commence.

But, all the characters, apart from the young daughter are all abhorrent, especially his son (which he should have really slapped), so you couldn't care less about them, and the ending is a cop out.

So it's good fun, but way too serious for my liking, and it's leaves you feeling a little dirty.

Oddly the best film I watched this year
review-257-6295887 March 2015
My gosh!!! This film is messed up.. but in an entertaining way.

The first 5 minutes you get the impression this is a low budget movie and to be honest I expected it to be crap. Pleasantly surprised to find myself warming to this Buddy character as his life melts around him. I would say this film has an identity crisis because by the end you're thinking its part comedy, party slash horror, thriller and who knows what. All done without fuss especially the violent moments.

The acting from the main character is very good but some of the other characters however need a few more classes but I didn't feel it made any difference. The film is based around a subject matter that many can relate to and the results are what some may fantasise about (if only for a brief moment).

Not an epic film but you can certainly tell the makers cared for this all the way down to the end credits.

The kill effects were trash..
reisbaker24 November 2020
But, all in all, I feel Jamie Kennedy gave a great performance. Seeing the declining mental state of a recovering alcoholic, after enduring everything his character went through, and how he portrayed it, deserves more than the "critics" have given it. Agreed, some of the performances were hard to watch. But, it feels as if they were new to acting. But the "better known" actors and actresses, did a decent job. Maybe a little different direction from the director would have been good. But strictly giving Jamie Kennedy a solid 9/10 for his performance. Everything else drops the score to a soft 7/10.

Saving Movie lovers...
aarminaj29 April 2016
Where to start ?? well let me think , to start with i created a user id just to put a review for this utter garbage which is put on IMDb as a movie. What did i just see, who made this , why did they invest in so much time , or resources (if any)on this drivel... I love watching horrors, thrillers and in general i do watch a lot of movies but this is so damn bad i wasted an entire 2 hrs on this..Bad acting, u feel like laughing but cant; cause the scenes are so horribly acted by the so called actors, no sync with the background music while acting, u feel the score goes some place and people are just acting to finish their lines off.. yup its shot on RED, but i have seen some good work on Red too.. i can just go on and on but let me tell u in one sentence , this utter nonsense is so bad i had to post my reviews to save movie mankind from watching this.. I have seen some real trash but this ones takes the cake. YA DON'T LET THE POSTER MISLEAD U..

Very Entertaining. Dark, Humorous & Full of Life's Ironies.
lippytoots21 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This film will be appreciated by all men (and possibly some women) who have hit rock bottom. When just about everyone in your life is evidently committed to making it a living hell; from your ex wife right down to the f@king mailman, it often becomes necessary to take things into your own hands. Buddy Hutchins is a film about just that.

With a strong undertone of 'natural justice' and 'inevitable karma', the film explores the extent a person will go to in the endeavor of self preservation and commitment to truth.

There are a lot of allegorical messages hidden within this film, but the main message which I received from the film is that the modern world is a very messed up place, where most people place the desire for money and power before human life and love, the film explores this area in depth when the main character (Buddy) is confronted with the death of his mother, after which he reaches out to his cold hearted gay brother for support. The brother's true intentions eventually become apparent and it becomes clearer that Buddy's brother only really cares about preserving his own financial interests which he chooses over his own mother.

Thrown into the mix is just about every other worst case scenario known only too well to many separated/divorced males; a psychotic ex girlfriend, a cold hearted ex wife who holds your child under emotional ransom, Police who won't leave you alone after being fed fairy tales from your ex wife, a failing business, an asshole gay brother and a dying parent. All of these familiar situations create a pressure cooker type of scenario for Buddy, who can't take any more.

Buddy sets out on the ultimate rampage by taking matters into his own hands.

I'll be the first to admit that this movie is not for everyone, but if you are an individual with a perspicacious mind who understands the trials and errors of life, then you will most likely be able to see the hidden ironies and allegories embedded in the film.

It probably won't win any awards, as this movie requires a particular taste, although I thought that both the acting and the story were brilliant.

This movie is on my top 20.

Decent lower budget horror/reality based film
apat-5008525 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, so IDK if what I'm about to say about the film counts as spoilers, but I checked off spoiler alert just in case.

That said, I watched this movie the other day with initial skepticism. After about 10 minutes, I fell into wanting to finish it. It slowly picked up about halfway through & you begin to realize, hey, that really bad day that Buddy is having, I'VE had those kind of days too! The acting from Jaime Kennedy is good, believable, awesome actually. The way he goes from alright all the way to homicidal & fed up is really good acting.

The gore/special effects were good too. Really good. No, this isn't a Grade A movie, but it's a good lower budgeted horror/reality based movie that makes you appreciate what you have in your own life & to hope to God you never end up so far gone as Buddy Hutchins! While this film may come off as boring to some, if you're living in actuality/reality, then you'll come to appreciate it's simplicity & showing how a family man slowly is, well, almost forced in a way, to morph into this guy who has lost his patience all the way & starts to hack people who did him wrong up. I give it a 8 out of a 10.
