As cancer symptoms worsen, April lets it slip to someone her diagnosis.

Warning: Spoilers
Admittedly I got teary eyed this episode. For as we continue to watch April fight against her cancer, try to maintain a normal life, and even excel, it does make you realize you are only a few cells away from possibly being in the same predicament as her. And as we get to know April more, and get to know all the people who would be affected, there increasingly is this connection made where you seriously hope for the best. For after the dad dying, imagining what would happen to the family if April died too is just emotionally devastating.

Topic 1: I Wanna Dance With Somebody – Sara & Brenna

With Ben gone, Sara moves on to other things which can keep her rebound into happiness going. Such as learning to tango! But with Ben no longer around to be her partner, April volunteers so her mom doesn't end up alone. Unfortunately for Sara however, April gets an invite to Bruce Hendrie's Campaign Kickoff so Brenna is expected to step in. Naturally though, Brenna continues to be unreliable in the family for she is more focused on hustling this girl in her history class to do all her work than being there for her mom. So, during the 2 hours Brenna is playing tennis with the girl, Sara is without a partner. Well, until she finds herself becoming the instructor's partner. Which of course leads me to wonder if that may become something or if simply the instructor was making sure Sara got her money's worth.

Topic 2: An Invitation to be Embarrassed - April

Focusing on April, after a conversation with Racquel's annoying ass about Hendrie's kickoff party she decides that she has to get into this campaign kickoff. One method would be taking Dominic's press pass, but that would be difficult since his boss wants him to go and she can't pass for a Dominic, but then there is Leo. With them sharing a cancer support group you are led to believe, especially after she confesses to leukemia, and he to having a growth on his brain stem, maybe her luck is back and running. Though, as always with April, just as things look like they maybe getting good, reality smacks her down.

For while she is given the idea maybe Leo may give her the exclusive of him having cancer, Leo ends up double crossing her for kicks and giggles, and all she learns is that Bruce isn't as doting of a father as Leo makes him seem in public. Though this was hinted when we first met Leo.

Topic 3: Biopsy – April, Beth & Brenna

With fatigue starting to really set in, bleeding gums, and now this weird looking sore on her back, April is really forced to take her cancer seriously. She can no longer make seeing her uncle a secondary priority, and with Beth maybe getting a job, she is going to need a real support team since it seems she didn't connect with anyone at the cancer support group. And what she especially needs if for Brenna to take some initiative when it comes to supporting their mother. For while Sara seems moderately fine, you can tell both kids really do worry about her. But, as of now, it seems April is the only one doing something while Brenna just gives lip service.

Something which becomes especially apparent when Brenna blows off Sara to play tennis to get out of doing school work. With this, April completely blows up at Brenna, and of course Brenna gets defensive. But in the heat of the moment April reveals she is having a hard time helping mom, working and dealing with cancer! And if Brenna doesn't believe her then ask Uncle George!

With this, Brenna is stunned and goes from trying to see if April is kidding to complete silence. Yet, the following day, as April seeks to have her biopsy without anyone, even Beth who is more than willing to reschedule, or cancel, her interview for April, she goes in alone with only George there. That is until Brenna shows up and that is the part that got me all teary eyed. For while Brenna certainly is a bit of a moose, the moment when we see April glad she is there and Brenna take her hand, oh just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes as I write this.

Things To Note

Strangely, when April introduces Dominic to Leo as a co-worker and not her boyfriend, he takes no note of this. Which is odd since I thought their relationship was official and Dominic does seem like the type who would have brought up April denying he was her boyfriend.
