A lot of story happening tonight.
First up is the Rayna/Tandy/Lamar/Teddy situation.
Rayna is working on shooting her video for her new single which she hopes will launch Highway 65. Tandy arrives and says the spa-- cough, cough-- was great. Lamar is being released from prison and Rayna wants Tandy to join her and the girls to welcome him home. Tandy does arrive but when Lamar gets there she begs off staying. The girls and Rayna sing a lovely song for Lamar and he is touched. All is well in the Wyatt family. Until Teddy shows up and tells Rayna he thinks Lamar killed Peggy. And then Tandy admits she was the star witness against her dad and that Lamar killed their mother. Rayna confronts Lamar and he basically cops to running his wife off the road, and then after discovering she was dead, leaving her there in a ditch and lying about it for 30 years. He also doesn't really deny orchestrating Peggy's accidental death while trying to kill the father of her children. Rayna says she and her children are through with him. That father has the last laugh, however, when Lamar shows up at Teddy's office to confront him and promptly keels over and dies of a heart attack and Teddy does nothing to help him.
Meanwhile, Scarlett is still all hopped on goofballs. She uses them to record with Liam. She uses them to pep up to make a cameo in Rayna's video. She's on them when she runs into Juliette, Avery, Deacon, and Zoe and asks crazy peppy and friendly and they all wonder what is wrong with her. Soon they will learn that she's all hopped up on goofballs
Meanwhile, Zoe has grown tired of simply being a waitress at the Bluebird and Gunnar's girlfriend so she's making a bid to become a professional back-up singer even though she has no experience. She does, however, now have glamorous straight hair and lots of gumption. And Gunnar's support.
Meanwhile, Deacon is very excited about recording his Live EP at the Bluebird and asks Avery to engineer it for him. He notices Megan is pre-occupied with what's happening with Lamar. When Teddy comes to see her and she tells him that the police are now digging more deeply into Peggy's murder he becomes emotional and she takes his hand... just as Deacon walks in. Deacon blows a gasket and calls her a tragedy junkie who only wants to save people and storms out. She tells Teddy she can no longer be on his case. Deacon calls her and apologizes and she shows up at the Bluebird and he serenades her and calls her his "angel."
Meanwhile, Will is committed to staying in the closet. So much so that he tells Jeff that he can no longer work with Brent. So, of course, Jeff fires him. Brent comes to him to glare and then leaves. Gunnar confronts him and Will says he's committed to doing what he needs to do to keep his eye on the prize. He sings a lovely new ballad Gunnar wrote inspired by Will's troubles and although he sounds great he calls it "not my brand" and is under pressure to deliver something great since his album drops the same day as Rayna's.
Finally, Juliette and Avery are nesting. Or more accurately she's hiding out from life. Now trapped by herself in Avery's apartment she redecorates with all her frou frou tastes. He is annoyed but sensitive and reminds her that just because she closes her eyes she is not invisible and has to get out there and change the conversation about herself. She finally comes out to go to Deacon's show at the Bluebird. Deacon notes that Avery and Juliette are now a thing and he approves. Juliette says she wants to record with Avery, he agrees but says he wants his furniture back.
