The Hilltop Café, where Dylan (Max Thieriot) and Bradley (Nicola Peltz Beckham) wait for the bus, is the same one used as Kayleigh (Amy Smart)'s workplace in The Butterfly Effect (2004). The name of the café was not changed for Bates Motel (2013).

In this episode Norma (Vera Farmiga) enquiries about Norman's (Freddie Highmore) blackouts using her sister as an example. Throughout the series her sister is never seen, but in Psycho II (1983) the character of Emma Spool, Norma's sister, tells Norman she is his real mother.
Vera Farmiga did her own singing in the scene where Norma performs 'Maybe This Time' from the 1972 film 'Cabaret'.
