Priceless eyewitness accounts from the last surviving combatants of The Boer War
lenny_leonard-027144 April 2023
What an amazing find; primary source evidence from the last surviving men of both sides, who fought in The Boer War (1899-1902).

This remarkable series in colour, recalls eyewitness testimonies, with the youngest British ex-serviceman being 90 years young.

Filmed in 1971, written and narrated by Kenneth Griffith, it features men from another time. There are moments, therefore, with language which would be deemed offensive today, but history is unapologetically blunt and does not stop to consider fashion, feelings nor social progress.

I was born this year, and growing up, I remember feeling blessed to have heard first-hand accounts from veterans of The Great War, sadly long since gone. To watch this amazing documentary series with veterans of an even earlier campaign, is such a treasure. This series is crying out to be cleaned up, digitally remastered and released on blu ray.
