Really, within minutes of this film starting, I began to regret my decision. I could have been in another screening, watching a film starring Toby Jones, but I thought this looked like a fun flick. The Bad Kids of Crestview Academy boasts that it is a delirious mash-up of The Breakfast Club and Heathers, a gory romp surrounding a group of misfit rich kids facing off against a serial killer during a Saturday detention at an elite private school. Yeah, it really sounded like it could be good...

You all remember 2012’s comic adaptation of Bad Kids Go To Hell, right? Probably not. Most seem to have missed Matthew Spradlin’s under-the-radar private school thriller, but – nevertheless – Ben Browder makes his directorial debut with the film’s follow-up sequel, Bad Kids Of Crestview Academy. Once again, a handful of rebellious, not-so-angelic students find themselves serving a deadly detention sentence where anything goes. Sex, drugs and adorable kitten videos – these kids are anarchists to the core, soaked in spoiled-teens-so-rotten-you-want-them-dead appeal. Welcome back to creator Barry Wernick’s educational house of horrors, just don’t mind the stripped-down nature of this barebones continuation.
Sammi Hanratty stars as Siouxsie Hess, a Crestview student seeking vengeance after the death of her sister Alyson (Ashlyn McEvers). Not too long ago, the academy held a party where Siouxsie’s sister supposedly committed suicide. A handful of students corroborated the same story, all of whom...

After one of the kids locks away their teacher, they find themselves trapped in school with no way out, wondering who (or what) set them up. Originally conceived some eight years ago by Matthew Spradlin, Bad Kids Go To Hell (the movie’s original title) originally debuted as a four issue comic mini-series from Antarctic Press in 2009. Fast forward to 2014 and the film, now re-titled Haunting of Crestview High silently hits the UK market courtesy of 101 Films, without all the hype that surrounded the 2012 Us release – which may not actually be a bad thing.
Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the film but I don’t think it ever lives up to the hype that surrounded its original Us release – which is maybe why the films UK debut took a couple of years – but as a fan of the John Hughes canon of films...

We all remember the controversy that surrounded the production of Cabin Fever 2, where director Ti West was met with overwhelming studio-interference, to the point that he tried to have his name removed from the project. I don’t have the second film, but there is no denying that it is “bad”. Still, though it had a somewhat entertaining quality, even if it was a bastardized version of what it was originally intended. After that, there was always talk of a new sequel, and even a reboot, and now that a sequel has actually been produced, it seems as though, instead of making a film that connections to Patient Zero, like they originally intended, they’re going with a reboot of the series instead. Nevertheless, Patient Zero exists, so how does it stack up against the first two films? Well, it is definitely better than Spring Fever, but there is a catch.
