It is a kind of new interactive imaginary plot that takes your thinking to the next level where you need to establish connection between the VFX and what is behind imagery.

Balanced filmmaking
terryholland-0323330 November 2021
I guess it depends if you were looking for entertainment or to satisfy an interest in films and filmmaking. Words and images are obviously so important to story telling but this short film hit the mark for me with the way the sound design and soundtrack played such a key role in telling the story. The director clearly has a deep understanding of sound as story and did a great job balancing it all together in Anomaly. Just watched it for the first time and the piece holds up beautifully for a work done in 2014. A quiet, reflective piece that I think told exactly the story the Director wanted to tell. Nicely done.

Waste of Time
I barely review, this may even be my first one on this site. However, I just had to. a 7.1 at the time of my review. Completely inflated. Obviuosly those that were in the film did the rating.

This was a complete waste of time. The acting was fine, the visuals were actually pretty nice in most of the film.

But.... there is no real plot. Something about relationships and a tie to a comet and blah blah. Didn't make it sense, didn't have any particular point, I've watched a ton of films like this and none have frustrated me as much as this one. DO NOT WATCH IT.

Reworking of a Myth

Warning: Spoilers
I'm surprised that no one seems to connect with the age-old myth of the divine birth here, which many would immediately associate with Christianity, even though it's extant in other religions of the world. All the symbols are there, including the star played by a comet. I thought it was quite moving, even though I'm as far from Christianity as anyone could be. The performances are very affecting, genuine and deeply felt. Nice.

It was 36 minutes long

There were a lot of pretty scenes, but where was the story to tie them all together? The music was too loud in places. Was this a crummy review? The show was, too.

A bit on the shoddy side Warning: Spoilers
"Anomaly" is a 38-minute live action short film from 2014 that was written and directed by a whole lot of filmmakers and I will not list the names here. Feel free to check out the list yourself here on IMDb. This list as well as the cast list does not really include any big names, but that's not a problem as I have seen many films by unknown movie makers with an even lesser known cast that turned out nicely. This one here not so much. During its under 40 minutes runtime, it tries to combine personal fates and relationship with a journey into space, so this is also a bit of a cosmic adventure, but sadly this one here does not really manage to get audiences the stars from the sky as I found it a very mediocre and forgettable outcome eventually in terms of both writing and acting. Nothing stands out here I must say I found that the film had quite a few lengths despite its not too many minutes runtime. You can see the ambition at times and how the filmmakers wanted this to be a success, but maybe the talent just wasn't there or it is an example of too many cooks spoiling the broth. In any case, I give it a thumbs-down. Not recommended.
