When Santa is stabbed to death and run over by a sleigh, every Christmas cliche imaginable come into play. A widower who has a big Christmas display in front of his house is crestfallen. He has a six year old son who he adores. But it turns out that the Santa who dies isn't the one that was supposed to be and now a can of Christmas worms is opened up. The investigation leads to the guy who should have been the Santa. Some silliness. The ending is a bit cruel even though it is probably deserved.

When a reindeer wanders though the Strip with blood on its fur and hooves, the CSI find a Christmas decorated house with snow and a dead Santa Claus. He is identified as Brad Fante, an employee of Bonham Realty. David Phillips finds five stabs on his back and that the sleigh ran over his legs. Ryan Bonham tells Russell that his company had a great year and he was hosting the Christmas party for his employees at home. Greg processes the reindeer that belongs to the company of Jayson Walt that organized the snow and the environment. When Nick sees the footage of the party, he finds that there was two Santa Claus. When they learn that Jayson was the other Santa Claus and who his brother is, the crime begins to be solved.
"The Lost Reindeer" is an episode of "CSI" with a comedy of errors. The investigation follows different evidences, but is well-resolved in the end. The snow with cocaine is the lead track to resolve the case. My vote is seven.
