- TriviaSheldon says that Garfield has no reason to hate Mondays because he is a cat, and thus doesn't work. Actually, writer Jim Davis himself once stated that Garfield's life is basically the same from day to day, but for some reason, a disproportionate amount of misfortune and bad luck seems to occur on Mondays. Garfield hates them because it is when he realizes that his life is an empty cycle of repeating days, and the Mondays are just a bit more awful than the rest. There is also a popular fan theory that Garfield hates Mondays because that is when Jon, his owner, goes to work; therefore, this is his way of saying, without actually saying it, that he loves Jon.
- GoofsSheldon makes a comment to Amy about Laura eating a peanut butter sandwich on Little House on the Prairie (1974). There had never been an episode where this happened.
- Quotes
Sheldon Cooper: [theme from 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' is playing] So, what do you think?
Amy Farrah Fowler: It was good.
Sheldon Cooper: That's it? Good?
Amy Farrah Fowler: I enjoyed it. When you told me I was going to be "losing my virginity" I didn't think you meant showing me 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' for the first time.
Sheldon Cooper: My apologies; I chose my words poorly. I should have said you were about to have your world rocked on my couch. Anyway, thank you for watching it. It's one of my all-time favorites.
Amy Farrah Fowler: It was very entertaining, despite the glaring story problem.
Sheldon Cooper: Story problem? Oh, Amy! What a dewy-eyed moon-calf you are. 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' is the lovechild of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, two of the most gifted filmmakers of our generation. I've watched it thirty-six times, except for the snake scene and the face-melting scene which I can only watch when it's still light out, but. I defy you to find a story problem. Here's my jaw; drop it.
Amy Farrah Fowler: All right. Indiana Jones plays no role in the outcome of the story. If he weren't in the film, it would turn out exactly the same.
Sheldon Cooper: Oh, I see your confusion. You don't understand; Indiana Jones was the one in the hat with the whip.
Amy Farrah Fowler: No, I do. And if he weren't in the movie the Nazis would have still found the ark, taken it to the island, opened it up, and all died. Just like they did. Let me close that for you.

Perhaps I've read too much science fiction, but I can't help thinking that the way out of this protracted battle over universal health care is a good ol' Edgar Allan Poe/Michael Crichton-style plague. Who's going to bicker over access to medical care or insurance deductibles if one wet cough from a busboy kills all the rack o' lamb-eating small government advocates in the restaurant? Who's going to fight against pre-existing condition coverage when it becomes frighteningly clear that we are all, rich and poor, smart and stupid, cute and inbred, swimming in the exact same bacterial soup? I'm betting no one. Because when that day happens, helping a sick person get well will not be an act of mercy or generosity. It will be the very definition of selfishness. And if history has taught us anything, selfishness rocks the casbah. Of course, there is plenty of sci-fi literature that takes this story down an even darker path. It involves everyone with a wet cough getting rounded up at gunpoint and trucked into "rehabilitation camps" in North Dakota. A privileged young man, raised on rack o' lamb, sees their suffering and sacrifices himself in order to lead them to a free clinic in Canada. When things are looking particularly grim in their march out of viral bondage, a small government advocate smiles cruelly and says to the young man, "Where's your health insurance now, Moses?"

[Played at the conclusion of Amy and Sheldon watching the movie, then later when Leonard, Sheldon, Howard and Raj watch the movie]
Just when I was thinking that they are going for some character development they kill my expectations by picking a story which seems to be inspired by one of the episodes from earlier seasons. Sheldon's part was always interesting and that remained true for this episode too which made me feel better. Amy too was great and is surely the most entertaining character after Sheldon now. But I feel sorry for the rest of them.
I hope for a better episode next week. And there is a high chance for that as the level set by this episode is not much to surpass for BBT.
