S3.E4 - Who Killed Madison [8/10]

Warning: Spoilers
(S3. E4) My Live Reaction / Review for American Horror Story Season 3 Episode 4 ''Fearful Pranks Ensue''. The previous episode was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. I hope they will find a way to bring Madison back. Kyle left the house, that's not good. Cordelia's husband is cheating on her? That sucks. Cordelia's husband is a murderer too? What the hell is wrong with that guy? Fiona removed Spalding's tongue? That's disturbing. Wait, no, he removed his own tongue? That's even more disturbing. He is loyal to Fiona till the end. Laveau brought some dead people back to life to attack the witches? Interesting. Overall this episode was good, my rating is 8/10.

As the council steps in, Marie Laveau steps up and the war begins.

Warning: Spoilers
she seems to be the only one capable of performing the magic she does while everyone else just helps. This is in comparison to Fiona who has telekinesis, pyrokinesis, can suck life out of peoples body's and doesn't have the recoil Marie has after doing a spell. Of course though, though Fiona has numbers, her support is almost strictly Cordelia since the girls aren't that powerful and the council doesn't support her since her role as supreme is like George Bush Jr. without his father's men helping him during his presidency.

Speaking of the council though, let's talk about their influence on the episode. First off, Nan is the one who called them and essentially put the coven in a huge amount of trouble. She isn't alone though for Cordelia snitches on herself by mentioning the Queenie incident, she is alive by the way, and makes herself seem so incompetent as a teacher. Then, to add onto things, she mentions seeing Marie Laveau and it just makes it feel like they are trying to recap the past episode.

So overall, while I wouldn't call this a filler episode, the intensity has dropped a bit and though the war is coming, I must admit that while Marie Laveau looks, and is, powerful, her having others fight her war sort of takes away from her fearsomeness. For, in comparison, Fiona can take you on face to face and Marie needs preparation. Also, considering the fertility spell, who knows how long she is out of operation after casting her spells, thus leaving her open to getting hurt and, unlike Fiona, we haven't seen anyone who can do even the tiniest bit of what Marie can do. So, while there maybe a war coming, it seems like Marie is the general and sole soldier of her army and everyone else is beating drums and watching on the side.

This season doesn't have the same magic as the previous two.

Really struggling with this one. They've decided that race politics sells more views than good storytelling . I'd rather have a decent story to be fair.
