- A husband and wife are seen sitting in bed together, clothed. They kiss a couple times and tenderly embrace.

- Two teenagers taunt a homeless woman who is sleeping in an ATM booth. They make derogatory comments, throw trash and other objects at her, and eventually begin striking matches and throwing them at her. The woman accidentally catches on fire. We see this sequence in segments over the course of the film in flashbacks. The woman is never graphically shown burning, but we do see the flames several times and hear her screaming.
- The aforementioned crime is filmed and posted online. We briefly see a non-explicit image of the woman on fire. We hear that the ordeal killed her.
- A man chases a teenage boy, intent on killing the boy to cover up a crime his son committed. He does not succeed, and the teenager is unharmed.
- A man punches his brother.
- A teenage boy throws up because he is drunk.
- A somewhat bizarre flashback focuses on the battle of Gettysburg. No real violence is depicted on screen, but the graveness of the historic event is discussed in dialogue.
- One character is mentally ill and is shown being moderately disturbed because of it. He slaps himself in the face a couple of times.
- In another bizarre flashback, a broken window is seen with some blood splatter.
- Several heated arguments, mostly surrounding the crime involving the homeless woman.

- Though never shown graphically, the crime involving the homeless woman is disturbing.
- The film deals with mental illness, so the related themes may be unsettling to some.
- Throughout the entire film, especially in the second half, two sets of parents are seen coming to terms with the fact that their children committed a crime that resulted in the death of a woman. Three out of four of the parents want to sweep the incident under the rug.
- A man chases a teenage boy, presumably preparing to kill him to cover up a crime that his son committed. He does not carry out the act.
