Tries something more complex than usual; fails

All Hallows Eve: October 30th is an attempt to do something different, I'll grant it that. It's about a director who is traumatised by some disturbing events from his childhood, which causes him to make a film of his own experiences as part of the healing process. Unfortunately for him by doing so this stirs up a modern-day evil with implications for all involved.

There's quite a bit of storytelling contained here, all of it rather unusual, but it all boils down to nasties-in-the-woods type scares, so by the end it has all become generic and pointless. This Canadian feature was made on a micro budget, which is painfully obvious in the poor staging, acting, and generally lifeless feel. I can always tell when a film is going to be terrible as it takes half an hour for the opening credits to roll.

Bad......Really bad.....

The movie actually doesn't start off all that bad with a man trying to abduct a young girl. From there the movie falls apart and you can't tell what the filmmakers were trying to do. It almost feels like they forgot to film half of the movie and just edited a bunch of scenes together.

The movie is supposed to be about a director who is making a horror film with a small group of people who really don't know what is going on just like us viewers. Most of the movie involves the director being angry and telling one guy to keep doing things. I think that guy might be his brother from the beginning of the movie? You have no idea of characters because people just keep coming and going and you have no real idea of what role they are playing.

Please stay away from this one. I had to finish it because I wanted to see how truly awful the movie was.
