Decent

It would have been nice to see more of Wiggum actually using the jet pack, instead of just for a few short minutes. But it was a nice Marge- centered story, and a very interesting Simpsons story in general. The jokes were all quite cleverly done, however, they seemed to be spaced out a lot in this episode.

It's also very nice to take a break from our usual Simpsons family and instead focus on the church congregation (which is a rare and unexpected group to focus on. Interesting choice.)

Nonetheless, I enjoyed it. Not my favorite, but a good one for the collection. Oh, and Wiggum's sky police song in the beginning was amusing.

This was awesome. But,I don't know why it was called sky police.

It was really cool. One of the best in season 26. A 7.9. 43 meta-score. If I was a critic I wouldn't have liked "that" much. But,I'm a user. So,I like it. Meta-scores:12,33,40,45,60,65. 6.5,6.7,8.5. Love it!!! i always wanted to make a Simpson's episode once.called:"the hurricane who ruffled Springfield's hair"'yeah I'm priceless.

This episode was funny. Way WAY WAY times 60 better than the last two episodes. My club gave it a 7.9 42 meta-score. Man,I can't wait to see the next episode.it was awesome. Not like the "the Lego movie kind of awesome" but, awesome. Bye!!!?!?!?!!!!!

Promising episode let down by the ending...
stevenjlowe821 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So continuing my foray into modern Simpsons I was directed towards this overall entertaining episode.

It started off a little bizarrely with the whole Sky Police gag which thankfully did not last long and was not the focus of this episode. What we did get was far better as we spent time with Marg and the loyal church attendees of Springfield and what a joy it was to spend time with these often overlooked characters. The whole saving the church through card counting was well done and provided a lot of good humour and character moments.

My only major peeve was the ending of Homer being kidnapped by the Casino owners. It felt rushed and tacked on I wish they had thought of a better resolution to the episode. Having said that for 'modern' Simpsons it was a solid effort.

Instant classic

Warning: Spoilers
I have to say I was impressed with Sky Police. The writers managed to get more mileage out of the destroy the church gag. Last time it was Homer and an off course rocket that destroyed the church, which led to Mr. Burns buying the church, and changing it, which in turn, led to Lisa adopting Buddism as her religion. There was also the time Homer was injured on Church property, and won the church itself in the settlement.

Chief Wiggum receives a jet pack was had been destined for Clancey Wiggins, a military officer. We quickly get a funny montage of Wiggum singing Sky Police (Which includes a terrible fate suffered by two spray painting punks) until Clancey Wiggins arrives to claim his jet pack. Wiggum tries to escape, but events lead to the unmanned jet pack crashing into the church.

What happens next is a plan to recoup the money by card counting at the local casino. Thanks to help from Apu, Marge, Rev. Lovejoy and his wife Helen, along with Ned Flanders and Skinner's mom take the casino for as much as they can, returning at times dressed in various outfits.

This leads to one of the best gags of the show, when Marge arrives at Rev. Lovejoy's house to get the money back. The pit boss has taken Homer hostage until the money is returned. Marge is shocked to see Rev. Lovejoy still dressed in one out the outfits. He explains that role playing has added zest to his and Helen's love life. Helen, hearing Marge's voice, replies that if there is a woman at the door, that Rev. Lovejoy should bring her inside, implying that she is looking to have a swinging three way bisexual experience. Marge escapes from the Lovejoy love nest, and goes to the Casino. The Pit boss agrees to let Homer go, and Homer goes on a rant on how Card Counting isn't really against the rules.

Without a doubt this was a return to the envelope pushing that the show had been known for in the past. And yes they do overlook Marge's previous addiction to gambling that still doesn't take away from the humorous story.

I want another Sky Police episode!
adampkalb22 August 2018
I read there was actually 3 meanings of Sky Police in this episode, even with the main plot of winning money to fix the church. The episode also made me want to play blackjack, which I have only done once at my 2018 after-prom party. The moral negotiation/rationalization of non-gambling/math in the bible was also brilliant. The only bad thing about this episode that I found was that we never saw Clancy Wiggum again after his original Sky Police plot, but at least we got another taste of this during the credits, unlike Bart's violin from King Leer which didn't mean anything. Maybe Sky Police Wiggum should team up with Bart Man and Fruit Bat Man to stop Hank Scorpio! That would make a great 700th episode.

Un-Simpsons
adamgsteel16 March 2015
This episode may be enjoyable for many. It may even be well written by some standards. But it doesn't feel like the Simpsons and as a result I couldn't enjoy it. The jokes are more drawn out than normal, feeling more like the Family Guy. The jokes are also often unusually crude, like when Horatio McCallister (the Seaman) robs Apu for opium money. The dialogue is also slowed down, and Apu and chief Wiggum don't sound quite like themselves. At several points, Apu doesn't even have an accent. It's like everyone who created this episode was intoxicated, and as a result you don't get the usual Simpson's feel. This is disappointing, and hopefully not the start of a trend.

Some of this Seasons finest,
lesleyharris3017 April 2015
Sky Police is a brilliant Simpsons episode with a very well written storyline and a ton of very funny scenes. It's a very fun and different episode as we see Marge and a group of great secondary characters use casinos in order to raise money for the church, it was loads of fun. I think the name of the episode is ridiculous, it's named Sky Police because of the opening that went on for about three minutes, and while I did find this very enjoyable, it isn't the main part of the episode and shouldn't have been the title. One of the best episodes of the twenty sixth season so far, Sky Police is a very enjoyable Simpsons episode.

Marge and friends are forced to use a casino in order to get money after Chief Wiggum causes damage to the local church.

Flanderisation of Reverend Lovejoy and the Sky Police scene is childish
celiawatsonanime3 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Reverend Lovejoy feels off, he's willing to count cards to get the church money to rebuild HOWEVER in the season 6 episode "Bart's Girlfriend" Reverend Lovejoy throws Bart out for saying the word 'but' multiple times acting like it's a swear word.

This episode was interesting and mildly enjoyable.

During the Sky Police jet pack scene I felt like I was watching a kids cartoon.

This definitely isn't a kids cartoon.
