I must say that the show started off really well, especially with the backdrop of an eerie forest and village near it .Even the opening scene was pretty dope. Inspite of few cliches like the troubled past of the lead detective, the subordinate not approving with the senior. We might start guessing the story plot somewhere by the 4th episode, but you'd watch it still for the good narration. However the show drags on unnecessarily and is maybe a couple of episodes too long. Some of the side storylines were too cliched and could have been made better. Overall a decent show that has different yet not unique plotline, great camera, decent acting by the characters, and is definitely watchable.

Folklore, horror, super natural, thriller, jungle, poaching, LGBTQ, superstitions, friendship , loyalty, hallucinations- so many themes packed for a slow yet eventful show.
A skeptic crime branch Inspector Rishi Nandhan is assigned to investigate a series of bizarre murders in a small mountain village, committed by a deadly forest ghoul called the Vanaratchi.
The investigation builds up most of the drama along with beautiful sub plots and flashbacks.
The only flaw for this gritty and haunting show is the pacing. The initial 3-4 episodes become drag and slow to set up. The transitions, montages and editing drag the pace which would have easily got the show to a gripping drama. Due to this, the depth is lacking and the emotional backstories felt forced.
Yet you would be invested with the show for the horror, the thrilling drama, the murders and the horrifying reality of poaching. The writing shifts gears from becoming murder mystery to a horror folks tale to grotesque poaching reaching to a penultimate climax.
Performance wise Naveen Chandra & Srikrishna Dayal blend a Ram Balram duo. But it is the supporting cast of Kanna Ravi, Malini & Sunaina who get the best moments and they give their heart out. Watch out for their performance in the later part of the show.
Absolute Kudos and spectacular production design, the cinematography, the gripping BGM, the claustrophobic and haunting jungle and the ease with which everything blends together. Special mentions to the creature effects and the VFX - spot on and believable.
The dubbing may sound silly - there is a caricature dubbing of typical South Indian lingo and accent which comes out of the blue for the supporting cast.
If you loved Poachers, which was an even gripping amazing drama then Inspector Rishi will blend the elements of horror with it.

How is that a show with a good plot, decent acting, good direction makes it such a slow burn. The series has a good but predictable storyline, and is gripping at times. But what is the most annoying is that it is sooo slow. This show has 10 episodes but it could've easily done well in 6. The back stories of the characters are good but integrated poorly. One scene would be absolutely gripping and then randomly cut to a back story which had absolutely no connection. Those random cuts in the scenes are so jarring and takes away from the viewing experience.
The actors have played their parts well. The cinematography is beautiful as well, capturing the hilly montages perfectly. If only they had edited out the silly backstories and made the plot line more tight, it would've been brilliant . The story inherently is quite engaging but takes too long to get to the point. I was forwarding all the backstory portions because they contributed nothing to the plot line.
Overall a decent series which could have done with lesser runtime and edits.

INSPECTOR RISHI begins with a banger scene, and the scene sets the tone perfectly for whatever is coming. But once the proceedings gets going, you slowly beging to realize that you aren't hoing to get that high which the beginning sequence provided. And that's the biggest problem with this series. It begins with such a brilliant sequence that it never quite manages to top it, and keeps chasing that high, which eludes it right up till the end.
The series has a interesting story to tell and it mixes folklore with relevant social issues, but due to its tonal inconsistencies and below average writing, it fails to reach up to its desired potential. This is a mystery thriller series with a touch of horror in between, but due to its dull pace in several portions, the mystery doesn't feel as tantalizing as it should have. The series could have easily done well with 8 episodes instead of 10, but due to several outstretched portions and subplots, it doesn't leave a desired impact. The red herrings are nicely done, and the central mystery is nicely built, but the unraveling part isn't as good, and the end twist isn't that surprising.
Acting is superb all around, and technically the series is fine too barring some poor visual effects and awkward fight sequences. Overall, it's a fine series that doesn't jusify its length and could have done well with some editing and a better writing.

A captivating series that holds you tight from start to finish. Season 1 leaves you eagerly anticipating the next installment. The storyline is solid, with direction that keeps you hooked throughout.
Rishi, Satya, Aayannar, and Chitra deliver convincing performances, though Kathy shines as a standout character while Viji adds an amusing touch. The series reached a climax that left audiences on the edge of their seats, keeping them guessing until the very end.
Vanarachi's presence on screen is simply mesmerizing. Each character contributes meaningfully to the plot, leaving no loose ends. The picturesque locations and scenery add another layer of depth to the presentation. Even the Hindi dubbing is commendable, ensuring a seamless viewing experience. In short, it's a series that's definitely worth your time and attention.

This was amazing. I started watching and couldn't stop watching it. I finished it in a single day. It's very nice and the suspense it has in each episode is mind blowing. I did not expect the ending. I tried to guess but I guessed only half of it. Whole story was amazing and I recommended it to all the people in my circle to watch it. It deserves more ratings. I wish you all the success to the entire team for your efforts. I usually don't give reviews but I thought that I should give this ratings because it deserves it. Being a must watch with suspense thriller supernatural genres. It deserves all the success. I think it's not having enough publicity. Overall a nice experience to sit in seat edge and watching it.

Great story, beautiful jungle setting and mountaintop scenery - spectacular to look at. The story is related to a forest town where some murders happen in very strange circumstances. It's spooky and scary. Some of the scenes can be hard to watch given the background music which makes it even scarier. The director has done a good job here. Although at times the music can be too loud. 75% of the show was engaging but they sort of slow it down almost every 10-15 min with overly long love story and personal drama. It just loses momentum for that reason. This should have been 8 episodes. Would have been lot more engaging. Otherwise the story is unique and blends in super natural with nature and a mystery. If edited better it would have been 9/10 rated.
It's not perfect but definitely has soul and is a very decent watch.
Cliched yet bold twists keep you on the toes but then some parts feel like you have seen it all way too many times. Same tropes, different story.
Acting is refined and fresh and note worth for all actors involved.
Particularly loved the man vs nature segments but couldn't help but wish that the mythical elements didn't drag as much as made it more interesting, which did not happen after Episode 7.
I would recommend the show even if you are not dazzled as easily.
Good concept but could have been much better.
Enjoy it but don't expect much.

One of the best series. Just completed season 1 and now waiting for second one.
Good story and excellent direction...
No where I felt lost. It's gripping and engaging till the very end..
Rishi and Satya are very convincing and so do Aayanar and Chitra..
Kathy is very lovely... And Viji was irritating 😂
Every time when Vanarachi was on the screen it was breath taking..
Every character played thier part very well and no loose end...
Worth the watch..
Excellent location and scenery and very well presented.
Dubbing in Hindi was good didn't felt missing something..
Finally.. worth watching and now I will scout for other movies of Navin to watch it..

A perfectly twisted plot which would glue you to the seat and make it binge watching worthy. A perfect amalgamation of thriller, superstitions, true crime and social awareness. The cast did a tremendous job in the show especially Naveen Chandra. The episodes are splendidly directed and the revelation is perfectly timed. The show definitely has got that edge making it stand out from the rest of the shows on the streaming services. The narration initiates as an unsolved mystery in a village in Tamil Nadu, where the prime characters arrive but by bit and in the righteous timing and the story unravels perfectly developing the curiosity and nail biting suspense.

"Inspector Rishi" emerges as a shining beacon in the realm of horror suspense cinema, captivating audiences with its riveting storyline, impeccable screenplay, and masterful direction. From the very first frame to the chilling conclusion, this cinematic masterpiece takes viewers on a journey through the depths of fear and the consequences of tampering with nature.
Set against the backdrop of a lush and mysterious forest, the film weaves a tale that is as gripping as it is cautionary. As the story unfolds, we are introduced to a group of characters whose fates become entwined with the untamed wilderness that surrounds them. What follows is a relentless descent into darkness, where every twist and turn keeps us on the edge of our seats, eager to unravel the secrets hidden within the woods.
Central to the film's brilliance is its ability to convey a profound message about the importance of respecting nature and the consequences of human interference. Through its compelling narrative and rich symbolism, it serves as a poignant reminder of the delicate balance between man and the environment, urging us to tread carefully and tread lightly.
Credit must be given to the visionary director, whose deft hand brings the story to life with breathtaking beauty and visceral intensity. Each scene is crafted with meticulous care, from the hauntingly beautiful landscapes to the spine-tingling moments of terror that linger in the mind long after the credits have rolled. It is a testament to the director's skill that the film manages to captivate and enthrall from beginning to end.
Furthermore, the ensemble cast delivers performances of unparalleled depth and nuance, bringing their characters to life with authenticity and conviction. In addition to its stellar storytelling and performances, it is a visual feast for the senses, with lush flora and fauna that transport viewers to another world. Every frame is a work of art, with stunning cinematography that captures the beauty and terror of the natural world in equal measure.
In conclusion, it is more than just a horror suspense film - it is a thought-provoking exploration of humanity's relationship with the environment and the consequences of our actions. Gripping, immersive, and utterly unforgettable, it is a testament to the power of cinema to entertain, enlighten, and inspire.

It's really a worth watching series. Every episode has it's unpredictable and engaging scenes. And the twist and turns are really unexpected especially in final episode The horror element is good and every presence of 'vanaratchi' gives us a horror vibe but there is no jump scares in overall series. It's not a negative but it would have been even more terrifying if it had. There is none episode felt like a filler. There is no unnecessary scenes. Some of the scenes we might think as unnecessary but they tells us the character transformation of the characters. And the most important thing is the horror wrapped the mystery in this series was impressive. And the performance of the actors are good. Every crew members have done their work very well. Better writing, better screenplay, better cinematography, overall a good worth watching series. It deserves a second season about inspector rishi's upcoming new mysteries.

A really good blend of horror and mystery. The opening scene was really well done. Decent vfx, but the sound design and the production value were really good, awesome cinematography and visuals.
I loved the side characters, they were well written and had enough space. Sathya was my favorite!
Good initiative on speaking up about poaching, the marginalized tribal societies and support to the LGBTQ community, I can see boomers crying about it in the reviews.
They could have cut out rishi's flashback instead of diving into it for an episode. Should have been an 8 episode series. A few irks but Worth the watch!

Good location. Good cinematography. Excelent cast, except for the lead role. Moderately engaging first 5 episodes.
6th episode was the worst. Too slow. Lost interest by the 7th episode. What is with the overload of lgbtq+ representaiton? Ok if it fits, if it is natural, but this was unnecessary overload. Every where you turn, there is some form of unnecessary representation.
There is a good theme in the heart of it. Could have developed it better. Just sprinkling it for 8 episodes all over was a downer. Lead character flashback was pointless to the story. By the way, stopped watching after 8 episodes.
We can watch Sulal for a second time. Tons more value in that. Waste of time.

I really enjoyed this movie. It had everything horror, thriller, fantasy and good storyline with eco concerned subject. I would have given this movie a 10 but there was one thing which I didn't like in this movie production, its the support for LGBTQ. Because of these kind of support that people give in movies many would avoid these kinds of good eco concerned subjects.....Kindly requesting the movie makers to not support these kinds of activist.
What I loved in this movie is The cast Backing Sound Storyline Suspense and many more to add SUNAINA did a great job after a long time...loved her..

This series follows Inspector Rishi , a detective/officer, investigating mysterious deaths in a village. A series of incidents happen with respect to forrest spirit. Inspector Rishi with his analytical capacity solved the mystery.
Initial proceedings are slow , it takes time in world building. Each and every character was given a character arc. The duration of the episode is also less unlike many episodes which last for an hour.
The spooky forest setting is more than just a background; it plays a very important role in this webseries . The cinematography excellently captures the natural beauty and haunting atmosphere.

RISHI SPOILED THE SHOW .
HOW ARMY GIVE THERE LIFE TO SAVS INDIA
SATYA DID THE SAME THING
HE JUST WANTED TO PROTECT THE FOREST WHOLE TRIBE VANISHED ? WHERE WAS RISIHI THEN?

The concept held so much promise, but turned out to be a colossal disappointment. The finale was an absolute trainwreck, as if the creators were determined to obliterate any hope of redemption. Despite the potential for spine-chilling horror with the 'Vanaratchi' theme, not a single scene managed to deliver any genuine frights. Instead, viewers are subjected to a barrage of absurd plot twists that defy all logic. The characters, particularly the lead, are unbearable to watch, with performances that lack any spark of charisma. The cinematography and scenes may offer brief respite, but they only serve to mask the glaring flaws in the storyline. 'Inspector Rishi' is an apt representation of the series as a whole - a mind-boggling mess that leaves audiences questioning their sanity. Spare yourself the agony and steer clear of this disaster.

I am in awe. The series is very beautiful as well as powerful. I am not a horror fan bcuz jumpscares scare the life out of me BUT this one is just mindblowing. No jumpscares and the "horror" this series hold is just of the absolute power. Acc to few it is slow but i don't mind slow series and this is not slow in particular as each and every character development is shown. I absolutely adored every character and each of them plays significant role in storyline accordingly. So the overall character depiction is remarkable. Also i love the way the series touched so many topics such as toxic relationships, family disputes, lgbtq representation, tribal believes and many more without making it overwhelming for viewers. Won't spoil it much but the last episode is EPIC. I was on antiheroes side so ofc was quite disappointed but this series leaves no room for that as the last ending touch was assuring. Again, this is the type of horror that should not be scared of and i just can't stop admiring the immense power i felt through the screen. The character of vanaratchi is written powerfully and depicted. OVERALL I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. This absolutely deserves recognition.
