Hey, who spun up the FTL drive..?

Wow, after some uneven episodes in Season 3, this is like buying a new car which, unknown to you, comes with a turbo, and you accidentally floor the gas pedal right out the dealership.

Some notes:

1. There are no less than 3 stories in play at the same time and if that writing feat is not impressive enough (and it should be) the writing team manages to link up two of them at the halfway point. Wow. I think they give awards for that kind of writing.

2. Sarah Shahi is a natural comedienne. I am writing this just for the record as I sure she is aware of this already and does not need me to point this out. To this point in the series I have only had two genuine belly-laughs, the first was when Shahi turned up a woman's book club in an earlier episode, and the second was this episode, when Acker initially asks Shahi if they might possibly team up -- understand, at this point, Shahi has been Tasered, drugged, and tied to a steering wheel by Acker -- and Shahi politely declines, offering only a two word explanation, "Trust issues."

3. Although no one has asked me what I think of the Acker-Shahi teamup, let me simply say that if they did a breakout streaming internet series based on this pairing alone (which does not seem to be likely) I would give you my Paypal info now, and subscribe in advance for two years. Pity.

Easily one of the best episodes in the entire series although -- the only small caveat -- you have to already be a fan to appreciate the nuances.

Root and The Machine

Root abducts Shaw, but convinces her to work together, saying that she is in contact with The Machine that asked for Shaw's assistance. Reese investigates the disappearance of Shaw and finds in the surveillance cameras that she was kidnapped by Root. But then he discovers that Shaw may have team-up with Root. Meanwhile, Finch is working with the estate investigator Timothy Sloan, who is the next target indicated by The Machine. Finch follows him and in the apartment of Jason Greenfield, who died two weeks ago of heroin OD, he learns that Sloan was his half-brother. Further, Jason was a hacker and did not use drugs. Root and Shaw go to a CIA hideout and Shaw poses of an agent, following the instruction of Root. They head to a prison, where Root meets Jason Greenfield, who was supposed to be dead. Laskey is forced to bury a body to HR and discloses his real name to Carter.

"Mors Praematura" is an episode of "Person of Interest" where Shaw temporarily team-up with her enemy, Root. I do not understand why this character lasts until now, and less why The Machine is communicating with her. The failproof hardware developed by Finch was not supposed to act this way. My vote is seven.

Just kill root for once at all, can't stand hearing her witty voice as well as her damn annoying acting, like seriously how many times are you going to keep her alive?
