Fake History by Turkish Nationalists
evpersimdb2 March 2024
This movie has nothing to do with the real history of amazing Kurdish-Turkish composer and singer. It is a made up story to appease Turkish right wing nationalists. I recommend not giving it a view. His widow stated that this has nothing to do with his life and is a money grab by clever movie producers. Sadly it is a way to change the narrative of an amazing artist due to poliical reasons.

Ahmet Kaya is Kurdish origin Turkish singer and composer. He is considered as one of the country's most epic folk singers. Sadly this movie has none of his works, nor follows his story with any interest in reality.

worth to watch

The movie is about the political and cultural views of Ahmet Kaya through a fictive journey of his return to Turkey after the earthquake in 1999. One of the messages in the movie is Ahmet Kaya's objective stance to defend the human rights for everyone regardless the political view of victims.

According to the news in Turkish media, Ahmet Kaya's wife sued the producer to stop its screening but the court rejected her demand.

The popular Ahmet Kaya song of "agladikça" composed by Ara Dinkjian is played instrumentally by the composer himself in the movie along with some other songs by Nalcakan.

The leading actor, Celil Nalcakan's performance is a nice one.

Recommended for Ahmet Kaya lovers!
