The Mendoza Line Teaches You About Life in Minor League Baseball
bhturnow-642-8458116 September 2014
Overall the movie gives a good insight on life in low-level minor league baseball. "The Mendoza Line" goes inside the head of a minor league catcher trying to hang on to his dream of playing professional baseball. Not only does the catcher have his battles with baseball, but has his battles with his personal life as well. The team featured in this movie is the Marysville Gold Sox. This is one of the lowest levels of professional baseball and it shows. Not only does "The Mendoza Line" capture the baseball side of things, but also the cultural aspects of players. Some cultural stereotypes are addressed in the movie and it does add to the story line. Besides the players, the movie goes on to add insight to the life of a minor league manager and the continued struggles that he faces as well. I would recommend the movie to any baseball fan, or any person who likes movies about people facing challenges and/or overcoming obstacles.
