Well, he made it to the final four and assembled his full 10-look collection, but there was one last challenge before the end and that cost him his opportunity to actually show his collection. Going home too soon can be rough, but I can only imagine how tough it is to get so close to the end only to be denied at the very last minute. “America’s Got Talent” continued season 18 on August 8 with the final two-hour showcase of first round performances in “Auditions 9.” There are no changes to judges’ dais this summer with executive producer Simon Cowell and long-time judge Howie Mandel taking their place on the ends of the table. The news that World of Wonder will produce two new RuPaul's Drag Race spin-offs starring Jimbo and Kandy Muse has given the recently concluded All Stars Season 8 even more of a feel-good ending. While Jimbo may have taken the $200,000 cash prize as the season's winner, this tandem announcement of shows for both Jimbo and runner-up Kandy, just three days after All Stars ended, feels like a hasty make-up prize to placate Kandy, her fans, or some combination thereof. And even if that wasn't the expressed intention, it fits with an overall trend in Drag Race in recent years to make sure everyone wins, in one way or another.

“You’re a winner, baby!” That famous RuPaul line may not have been said to RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 8 runner-up Kandy Muse, but she feels like a winner nonetheless. The New York-based queen came in second place on RuPaul’s Drag Race for a second time in the Friday, July 21 finale on Paramount+, but she tells TV Insider that knowing RuPaul is her biggest fan feels like a crown in and of itself. Mama Ru expressed her love of Kandy two separate times in the All Stars Season 8 finale. That love was clear in Kandy’s original season (Season 13) as well, when Ru sent Kandy packing and then changed her mind seconds before Kandy took her final step off the runway. Third time’s the charm. Canadian drag queen Jimbo is now the reigning queen of the RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars universe, having beat Kandy Muse in the Friday, July 21 Season 8 finale on Paramount+. With her win, she becomes the first international performer to take home the main stage crown. TV Insider caught up with the high-fashion clown after the finale to talk about her reign, how she’ll be spending it, and how she made winning look so easy, plus what it was like to go up against Kandy — a queen whom host RuPaul has often said is one of her favorites in the business. As the newly crowned queen tells us, Jimbo’s longstanding confidence in her work made winning always seem possible, but the signature unpredictability of Drag Race‘s structure kept her on her toes. Following Friday’s ninth episode, former “All Stars” competitor, one-time host of “Pit Stop,” and season 13 alum Denali discusses where the competition stands as the makeover challenge brings the season down to two finalists. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In their recap of the episode, Denali makes the statement that Kandy Muse is someone who is perfect for television and was made for a competition show like “Drag Race.” Denali was also sympathetic to the decisions that the girls are making in terms of the competition being hard to navigate — she said she understands why Heidi N Closet would be like “peace out” and why Alexis Michelle and Kandy would choose alliances over taking out “the competition...

Alexis Michelle knows she has some explaining to do to fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. The former Season 9 queen, now the latest eliminated from All Stars Season 8, tussled some fan feathers when eliminating Lala Ri in Episode 8. The surprising elimination came one week after Lala won the Episode 7 challenge and after she had saved Alexis from going home that night. When Episode 8’s sewing challenge came around, Lala asked Alexis to return the favor by saving her from being cut from the competition. Alexis said she would never forget Lala’s kindness but sent her packing that night anyway. TV Insider caught up with Alexis following her elimination in All Stars Season 8 Episode 9. Here, she explains why she sent Lala home, what really happened in that Werk Room disagreement that led to Heidi N Closet leaving the competition ...

After 15 seasons of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and 13 international spinoffs, the franchise has launched the careers of over 400 fierce drag queens. As those performers grow their careers, a select lucky few are granted the opportunity to return to the competition to compete on the Paramount+ sister series: “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.”
So far the world has seen eight seasons of “All Stars,” with winners that include Alaska, Trixie Mattel, Shea Couleé, and Kylie Sonique Love. Given the wild success of the franchise, it’s safe to assume that plenty more fan favorites will be making return trips to the mainstage for more “All Stars” seasons. With only a few spots available for each iteration, here are 10 queens who simply must be invited back to the show for their chance at a spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame.

John Cameron Mitchell, who blazed onto the indie scene with the 2001 queer musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” hopes that the recent state legislation outlawing drag shows will soon be a thing of the past.
“I think it’s temporary because most young people realize it is absurd and eventually, the bigots die off,” Mitchell told TheWrap in a recent interview.
The Tony-winning actor, who costars in Apple TV+’s “City on Fire” and did musical turns on Netflix’s “Sandman” and a Season 2 episode of “Yellowjackets,” recently moved to New Orleans and spoke about a pending drag ban in Louisiana.

Acting challenges on Ru Paul’s Drag Race have a very storied her-story on the show. while there have been some amazing performances on the show there have also have had some truly terrible ones such as the Lady McBitch challenge during season seven! However, I have to say that last week’s improvised whodunnit ‘forensic queens’ was one of my all-time favourites. Following in the footsteps of the Netflix original series Murderville or the highly successful Jury Duty show, the queens of All-Stars eight had to improvise their way through a series of scenes. In a shocking surprise, the two highlights of this challenge were Lala (who claimed her first win of the season this episode) and Jessica Wilde, who both delivered hilarious portrayals of the crooked security guard and snubbed All-Star queen respectively. Before we could even get to the challenge however there were buckets full of drama...

“America’s Got Talent” continued season 18 on June 27 with a two-hour showcase of acts in “Auditions 5.” There are no changes to judges’ dais this summer with executive producer Simon Cowell and long-time judge Howie Mandel taking their place on the ends of the table. Heidi Klum returns as well, as does Sofia Vergara who took a break when “All-Stars” aired earlier this year. Hosting duties are entrusted to the lively Terry Crews once again.
In the audition phase of “AGT,” an act needs at least three of the four judges to give them a “yes” vote to advance to the next round. If two or more judges buzz the act, they are immediately eliminated. Each judge and Crews has one chance to hit the “golden buzzer” and send an act straight through to the live performances.

Those of us who saw 1987’s Fatal Attraction movie — in other words, all of us — might have thought that we knew how Paramount+’s series adaptation was going to end. Peppermint wants back on “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” She famously was runner-up in Season 9 when Sasha Velour took the crown after her iconic rose petal-filled finale lip sync.
“I would love to go on ‘All Stars,’” Peppermint tells me on this week’s episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast. She was asked to compete in 2018 but was already booked for the Go-Go’s Broadway musical, “Head Over Heels.” “I will happily go onto the show if they invite me,” Peppermint says. “It is quite expensive and quite an investment, but I do think it could be worth it.”
Peppermint will next be seen in “A Transparent Musical,” opening May 23 at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. She plays Davina, a role originated on the “Transparent” television series by Alexandra Billings. Peppermint recalls having “two-person watch parties” with her music producer when the series first premiered on Amazon in 2014.

The second episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 8 presented the queens with a comedy challenge, but the lip sync that followed was no laughing matter.
In fact, very little about this episode was a laughing matter. Acting challenges in this franchise are extremely hit or miss, and this Saturday Night Live-inspired sketch comedy show was a miss for me. Not only did the jokes forget to RSVP to the script, but one sketch basically tricked us into watching a commercial for Michelle Visage’s book. The three Chicago shows – Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. – return to their Wednesday night time slots, and Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu are back with new seasons on Thursday nights.
The network hasn’t made any decisions on the status of American Auto, Grand Crew, and Young Rock, but did confirm new unscripted series Deal or No Deal Island and Untitled America’s Got Talent Series will premiere midseason. And Oscar winner Tom Hanks narrates the 10-part The Americas event series launching next spring.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” season 8 premiered on May 12 with the first two episodes streaming on Paramount+. Airing concurrently with the main show is its Werk Room-focused sister series “Untucked,” now in its 5th season for the “All Stars” franchise. This season, the eliminated queens have the opportunity to compete in the “Fame Games,” an online and social media component to the competition where fans will vote for a queen to win the $50,000 cash prize up for grabs.
In episode 2 of “Untucked,” the 11 remaining queens reflected on the latest challenge and discussed the upcoming elimination. That decision could be in the hands of the group vote among the safe queens or solely in the hands of the week’s top performer, Jimbo, if she won the lip sync against the secret assassin Pangina Heals. The bottom queens up for elimination this time around were Kahanna Montrese and Naysha Lopez.
