Starts solid, but falls apart at the end Warning: Spoilers
"Sticks and Stones" is a 7-minute short film from 2 years ago. It's written and directed by Lee Greenhough, who also plays the father in this movie. And the actor who plays the son is actually his real son as well. Family business I am usually not too big on. Anyway, the story is about a boy who is not capable of connecting with his peers and classmates. he is always an outsider, be it during playing football or basketball or during school lessons. The teachers tried their best to help him, but no success. The narrator is actually the boy himself. Now I felt the buildup was decent enough, but the ending was just underwhelming. I didn't really understand what was going on. Did he put a bomb in his backpack to make it explode? Is the boy really a terrorist? Well.. his father surely wasn't an extreme Muslim or something like that. So what inspired him? Or is he just frustrated with life and that's why he wants to blow everything up. And how did he get the bomb? There's no way he has the knowledge to build it himself. Really weird ending and it does not help the movie at all. One could almost say it destroys it, simply because it's not credible or realistic at all. Not recommended.
