The Scorpion King The Lost Throne: Passable stuff
Platypuschow12 May 2018
Credit where credit is due, the Scorpion King franchise was nowhere near as bad as it could have been or by all rights should have been.

In this 4th and likely final instalment we see the return of the titular character once again played by Victor Webster who does a decent enough job.

The plot is brainless but acceptable and the action and laughs come thick and fast and once again the film doesn't take itself seriously at all (Which works in its favour).

Again it's like watching Hercules or Xena, and since fantasy movies are so few and far between I'll take what I can get.

The odd thing is how many stars are in The Scorpion King but how little screen time they get. Rutger Hauer, Eve Torres, M. Emmet Walsh and Lou Ferrigno (Who plays a big part of the cover art) are all in one single scene each which seems like a bizzare waste.

Dumb stuff, but passable this rounds The Scorpion King franchise out for me at 22/40 which isn't all that bad. I would however say that this perhaps should be the last film and it shouldn't be milked any longer.

The Good:

Some oddly good comedy

M. Emmet Walsh & Barry Bostwick

Scorpion King wasn't recast again

The Bad:

No Olaf

Most of the famous names are little more than cameos

Weak CGI

Things I Learnt From This Movie:

Watching Scorpion King 4 is like watching an extended episode of Hercules, except the leading man isn't a complete moron

Agents of Shield Grant Ward is the Scorpion King? Who knew!

Rocks are secretly soft and will protect you from large falls

Women always have spare clothes that would neatly fit 6"5 men

Making wrestlers do their finishing moves in movies is still tacky

This time Mathayus is mercilessly chased , at the same time he must retrieve an artifact that displays an ancient power
ma-cortes21 May 2020
This adventure again deals with Mathayus (Victor Webster who did most of his own stunts) who his betrayed by his friend Drazen (Will Kemp) . Mathayus is assigned by king Zakkour (Rutger Hauer) to quest for peace with another ruler (Michael Biehn) , whose son results to be the former friend who double-crossed him. Mathayus is incarcerated , but along with an imprisoned princess called Valina (Ellen Hollman) escape jumping from the walls an impressive fortress . Then , Mathausis relentlessly pursued by the army of the entire kingdom , being accused for killing a king, while looking for a strange artifact that unleashes a dark power.

Sword and Fantasy film with fights , battles , pursuits and touches of humor and irony . The film The Scorpion King the lost throne (2015) with good cast as Webster , Will Kemp , Lou Ferrigno , Barry Botwick ,wresler Eve Torres turns out to be more a sequel to third part Battle for redemption (2012) by Roel Reine with Webster , Ron Perlman , Billy Zane , westler Dave Bautista than the first and original Scorpion King (2002) by Stephen Sommers with WWE westler The Rock Dwayne Johnson, Kelli Hu ,Bernard Hill, Steven Brand , Grant Heslov. While the second part The rise of warrior (2008) by Russell Mulcahy with Michael Copon , Karen David , Tom Wu , westler Randy Couture is more a prequel to the original, first and best film .This entertaining film contains a fun and amusing relationship between two starring : Victor Webster and and Ellen Hollman. Here Victor Webster repeats his role , being the first actor in the franchise to return his character as Malthayus . The picture benefits itself from a sympathetic and enjoyable support cast , such as : the ex-Hulk Lou Ferrigno , WWE westler Eve Torres , veteran Martial art expert Don Dragon Wilson , Michael Biehn , Barry Bostwick as a nutty wise and special and brief appearance from Rutger Hauer in one of his last ones .

The motion picture was professional ,but with no originality , made by Mike Elliott , following the wake of the third part . Elliott is a prolific producer who has financed a lot of films , usually B-movies, such as : Manhunt , Black Scorpion , Hit the floor , Detonator , Santa Girl, Woody Woodpicker , Dangerous waters , Automation and many others . And he has directed a few films as November rule, A warden's ransom, American pie girls' rule , Bethoven's big break . Rating : 4.5/10 . Inferior sequel. Only for The Scorpion King Saga fans

Welcome Back to The Days of Yore.....Well At Least The 80's
nemage16 January 2015
I couldn't help it, even though I knew what I was getting myself into. Being a teenager in the early 80's, I grew up with the low budget sword and sorcery flicks. Deathstalker, Ator, Barbarian Queen, Amazons and several others. I've always enjoyed those "films", no matter how bad. After watching this one, all of those titles flashed into my head. I would compare this one to those. Just a little more modern day cheese.

Is it a good movie, no. If you like those bad 80's titles, you may be able to make it through this one. If your taste is not those type of movies, don't watch it. It's always good to see name actors in these type of movies. Go through the motions and cash the check. Easy money.

Take it for what it is
ThePerplexicator2 January 2015
The negative reviews for this film abound. It seems most are comparing it to the first Scorpion King, with "The Rock." Admittedly, the three that have thus far followed it aren't nearly of the same quality. But if you put that aside and just take it for what it is, it's a fun film, with some wit and levity that even had me chuckle out loud a couple of times. It wasn't full of gratuitous sex or vulgarity. It's just a fun action adventure popcorn movie. It will not rank among the best movies of all time nor is it trying to do so. I had just returned from another 7-hour chemotherapy session and this film hit the spot: Brainless and fun entertainment. If you just take it for what it is, I hope you'll enjoy Scorpion King 4 as much as I did.

Goofy Fun
bemyfriend-401848 December 2021
Some of the Scorpion King movies try to be... sort of serious. And some try to be... sort of funny. This fourth movie combines Monty Python style British humor, with lots of pratfalls. The movie-maker tried for sexy, and didn't utterly fail. Seen on Tubi, the free streaming site; which has many low budget films, indie films, foreigns, and now, live TV.

Let Us Speak Plainly.......Sh*t is Sh*t
clarkmick338 June 2015
Awful, Awful, Awful............. I got what I expected - Scorpion King 4 was sh#thouse production at its crappiest. From combat that is more rehearsed than behind the scenes WWF, to the main character dressing in drag and the always present big cheesy one liners.(Some of these were surprisingly for mature ears "that better be a knife in your pocket" This movie has it all to make it one spectacular craptastic adventure.

I could go on and on about the details of how awful this movie is but that would be like going through poo and identifying what type of food is in the poo - the acting, directing, fighting, SFX and dialogue is all brown and smelly.

I am really surprised they got Universal to provide a budget for this film......I mean how many peps actually have heard of Scorpion King 3 let alone a 4th coming along. I am a fan of adventure films and swords and sandals type genre but this belongs to the genre called Sh*thouse.

Definitely one to watch if you are really unwell(like moi) and cannot be bothered doing AnYTHING else!!! I suppose one benefit of watching this film was that it made spewing easier.

Not horrible, but....
JoeB1318 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This movie has a lot of actors you've heard of in minor roles. Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner) Barry Bostwick, Michael Beihn (Aliens) and even Lou Ferigno (The Hulk). All of whom collected their booze money checks for being in a couple of scenes.

You have the second "Obviously not The Rock" actor playing the Scorpion King in a bunch of sequences that are somewhere between failing to be serious action and not quite hitting parody slapstick.

The plot paints in all the numbers for this kind of movie, with a checklist. Obscure clues being followed. Check. Clever traps being outwitted. Check. Mystical Artifact that deal bad consequences on the unworthy. Check. I give the most credit to Bostwick for trying to treat this material seriously when no one else was.

I can't say it was horrible to watch. But I can't say it was good, either.

Wow, this must be the worst movie I've ever seen!

Even though I just seen a bit of this movie. It has everything: bad humor, poor acting, the script sucks and so on. What a complete waste of time.

Yep not good, but ...
kosmasp24 May 2015
... the actors are having fun and you could also have some. Kind of of course. I mean you can only shake your head at the "Dragon" of the movie. It's ridiculous beyond any words I could muster to write here. Yes it is low budget (though still under the Universal banner!?), but even Harryhausen made more believable "monsters".

Anyway back to the actors, the female lead known for her role in Spartacus (at least to me) is obviously playing it for laughs and has some funny lines to say. The action sequences are not really good, but I've seen worse. Actually there is a decent stunt scene thrown into the mix here and there. If you are in the right frame of mind (and maybe like the people involved), there is fun you can have

Light hearted, adventure for family.
destroyerwod17 January 2015
When my friend mentioned to me there was a Scorpion King 4, he said this was a Nanar, which is a french word they use in France, with the equivalent in English that could be "movies there so bad there good" but at the same time, its not exactly that.

First of all the movie is made to be an action adventure comedy, with a huge emphasis on comedy. Its been so long i have not seen the first Scorpion King with Dwayne Johnson, i can't remember exactly but i am sure it was not that "on the comedy aspect" if i can say.

It seem the cast just had fun with this one, its almost like watching a Disney cartoon with real persons. If you can remember Hercules the Legendary Journeys with Kevin Sorbo, well this is close to that.

So could we really call it a "Nanar"? Not really cause it seem they really knew what they wanted to do and they did just that. Honestly i had fun watching it, the characters where cool, and sure at times i was like "oh common really?" but always with a smile. Its just a good family fun time.

Just don't expect anything serious and you should enjoy it.

The Scorpion Fail
anthonyf9415 September 2019
You can change actors but the result is still horrible, worse and worse. Steroids, bad dialogues, annoying rethoric, weak plot. Just commercial machist poor movie. As the other chapters it can make you reevaluate The Rock: it doesn't need anything else to say.

Great family movie and the action was superb!
jameyperry13 January 2015
My family has always been a fan of the Mummy and when the same creators started The Scorpion King franchise we've watched ever since. I have to say, between the amazing fight sequences and the humor (that lacked in the other ones) this movie was all around quite enjoyable. It's kid friendly and worth watching! It's definitely an action/adventure/comedy. Those looking for a serious drama won't find it here. The performances were hilarious and the chemistry between the actors was enjoyable. My favorite scene was between Ellen Hollman (Valina) and Eve Torres(Chancara). It may just be the best fight scene between two women I've ever seen!

HOW COMES I ALWAYS HAVE TO BE DRAGGED BY THE CAMEL?
nogodnomasters10 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The Akkadian Scorpion King Mathayus (Victor Webster) is back for part 4. This film is more akin to part 3 in that it is light and lends itself to camp and cliche instead of being a serious epic action film. Our warrior teams up with femme fatale Malina/ Sugarlove (Esmé Bianco) and her eccentric inventor father (Barry Bostwick) in order to find the legendary lost palace of Alcameda (?) while battling a rival king and his army, a dragon, and midgets. Feels like an Indian Jones film at times.

The film is anachronistic, borrows modern phrases, and even employs swagger music. In the beginning a guy not hiding his Brooklyn accent (Lou Ferrigno) says, "No one steals from me." I am not sure how much of this type of thing was intentional or not. In any case it was funny and entertaining, but it wasn't sustained...like in Part 3.

This is a film with no swearing, sex, or nudity. Suitable for the tweens.

This movie put me to sleep with the boring talk. Why the direct to video strategy huh
turnerw-2835925 January 2021
You know the thing I hate about these direct to video sequels from Universal is that they all get misjudged for what they really are. They're good to rent or buy for a low price but that's about it. It just wasn't that good, it was extremely bad not even the fight scenes could save this picture. If you're gonna make an action picture, you'd better deliver or you're just wasting our time. See it one time then forget it if you don't know what I'm talking about. I'd recommend the one from 2018 if you want a better Scorpion King sequel

gurumaggie3 January 2022
Possibly the worst film I have ever seen, there isn't enough money in the world to make watch this utter drivel again, it's just after Xmas and this feels like turkey and ham in a rubbish sandwich.

Why did they make it?did they need the money that badly? Don't watch this.

Just not good...at all. On the other hand it is a movie that you can watch and make fun of, for a while.
cosmo_tiger11 January 2015
"With the right amount of power every man is dangerous." Mathayus (Webster) is on a quest to find a magical crystal with his partner and protégé. When they find it Mathauys is shocked at the double cross and is left to escape on his own. He meets up with Valina (Hollman) and along with her father they team up to try and retrieve the crystal and stop his partner from obtaining an ancient power that is dangerous in the wrong hands. Before I start I have to give you my history with this series. I thought the first Mummy was OK but wasn't really a fan of the others. I was also not a big fan of any of the Scorpion King spinoffs but I did think that The Rock was a good choice to play him. The second and third one tried too hard to be like the original but with a limited budget and very limited acting ability they ended up just being boring and unexciting. With this movie they changed things up...a little too much. This movie felt like a cheesy version of the Hercules series with Kevin Sorbo...if you have seen that show then when I say this is cheesier than that one you may not believe me. After you watch the scene where Valina's father dresses like a chicken and tries to fly, or when Mathayus dresses like a woman to get into a temple you will believe me. Overall, just not good...at all. On the other hand it is a movie that you can watch and make fun of, for a while. I give it a D+.

Like a really cheap episode of Xena or Hercules
liam_nb12 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This has such a made for tv look it reminds me of Syfy originals, old episodes of Stargate and really cheap episodes of Xena, while I don't have a problem with that persay it's definitely a negative in the grand scheme of things having a cheap look but a lot of good things are quite cheap looking, now I only watched this cos I thought it weird a bad mummy spin off movie had not only a sequel but 4 not to mention Netflix was promoting it very heavily weirdly but I wasn't exactly shocked that it turned out pretty cheap and bad so that's not why I've scored it a 4/10 cos there's some reasonable humor and a good fight scene being the weird MMA cage fight between two lasses which I think definitely should have ended much sooner as the hero lass got absolutely annihilated she should have been in the morgue with all that damage still fun to watch tho and not awfully choreographed or shot, rest of the fights were pretty limp though.

With all that being said it's a cheap weird sequel still so it wouldn't get anything above a 5 I wouldn't recommend this movie at all it's dumb fun but it's not good. The major flaw that makes me give ut 4 is the straight up falsehood on the poster Lou ferigno is in the movie for 2 minutes and he's the big head on the poster, he's in it less that Kyle Reese, Biff Tannon and Roy the Replicant yet he's the big head on the poster which is insulting I wanted some chunky scenes of the incredible hulk but I got a couple frames so for that this movies loses most of it's good points, very rembly review point is movies stop advertising big names who are barely present it's annoying.

lacked sting
iamtherobotman3 January 2022
Absolutely terrible film. The awful attempt at quick witted humour fell completely flat.

The only reason to watch this, is to see Ellen Hollman in her skimpy outfit.

Stung by the Scorpion King 4: Quest for Power
galthos18 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Terrible acting, cheesy dialogue, shallow characters, uninteresting plot, unrealistic fight scenes, and crappy special effects. No redeeming qualities, whatsoever. It doesn't even deserve to air as a Sci-Fi original movie.

Do you know how Hollywood tends to ignore the Laws of Physics? This movie just took it to the next level. We see our heroes engage in fist-fights, fall from great heights, and fly out of catapults and afterward walk away completely unscathed. It turns out the "dragon" is a medieval-age mechanical construct powered by geothermal steam that could never have functioned in the way the movie portrays. The same goes for the old man's steam-powered mill.

When we first see the lead female character in the dungeon, she was wearing a skimpy outfit. After escaping and deciding to join Mathyus on his possibly-dangerous quest, she changes into another skimpy outfit. That along with the cage match between her and another hot, scantily-clad woman, the scantily-clad acolytes of the female goddess, and the periodic sexual innuendos are blatant, pathetic attempts to keep the movie interesting for young male viewers.

I feel like this movie insults its viewers' intelligence and I regret watching the whole thing, even though it was for free. One couldn't pay me to watch it again.

A great film
jacobjohntaylor120 January 2017
Why did this get a 4.2. It is a great movie. It has a lot of action. It has a great story line. It also has great acting. The Scorpion King is better. The Scorpion King 2 rise of a warrior is better. The Scorpion King 3 battle of redemption is also better. But still this is a great movie. I give it 7 out of 10. 4.2 is underrating. This is an awesome movie. I do not know why would not like it. There do have to like. But if you like good fantasy movies you should see this movie. It is one of the best fantasy movie from 2015. It is a very scary movie. See it. It is a great movie. I need more line and I am running out of thing to say.

Surprisingly enjoyable
Leofwine_draca26 January 2022
I appear to have missed a couple of sequels along the way but no matter. This is part four and surprisingly enjoyable, at least on par with the sword and sorcery flicks of the 1980s. It has a wealth of action portrayed in a jokey, stunt-filled HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS kind of way. No-name leads, but a lot of old-timers making welcome appearances in support, not least Rutger Hauer, Lou Ferrigno and Michael Biehn. It's also well-paced and is well shot throughout. Cheesy and with poor FX, but I expected nothing else...
