So far I'm really not emotionally riveted to season 4. I'm not sure what the difference is this season, besides a seemingly much smaller budget for traveling. Have they only been to Columbia so far? Besides that, it's been a lot of tedious, random people in suits arguing in offices, or in hotels, or in restaurants. That alone doesn't need to be boring. A spy show like Rubicon was insanely suspenseful and it was mostly all in one office. So the problem has to be the story, and some of the direction.

Starting last season, Annie seems to be getting worse at her job instead of better. I have a hard time believing it would normally be ok for agents to just fly to other countries on a whim without (officially) telling anyone or getting it approved. But she does this sort of thing all the time now. "Hey, I know no one would agree with me, so I'm doing it anyway!" What's way more annoying is how she thinks rules no longer apply since she's dating Auggie, especially while he was her boss. And she's quite pouty about it. Constantly whining to him "Well I thought we wouldn't keep secrets!"

In general, I think I just have never found the schemes of Henry Wilcox to be too compelling. I especially don't get why he so personally blames Arthur for Jai's death. I've stated in previous reviews that whole plot was never satisfactorily fleshed out. Instead, now we suddenly have Henry pledging to kill Arthur's son as revenge? And due to the writing, Henry comes off as an irrational, cartoonish villain who doesn't evoke the slightest bit of sympathy for his loss. If the actor could transcend the writing to be one of those villains you love to hate, it would be a big help. But he doesn't. Add to that the lack of suspense or sympathy when it comes to Teo also and it's a recipe for indifference. If only we had known who Teo was and cared about him *before* his background was revealed, and then cared even more for him *before* his life was put in danger.

I'm sort of half watching at this point just to get through these plot lines, hoping the old spark comes back.
