Platform 7 is essentially a train station as purgatory. Adapted from a novel by Louise Doughty, it is a supernatural thriller.
Edward (Phil Davis) is an old man who throws himself off Platform 7 onto the path off an oncoming train. A year earlier young school teacher Lisa (Jasmine Jobson) did the same thing. It was put down to metal health issues.
Both are now trapped in the railway station. Only it stirs something in Lisa to discover why she killed herself. Especially after her parents arrive to lay flowers at the platform along with her boyfriend Matt.
Lisa finds out she can now leave the train station as she tries to uncover why she killed herself. As everything was going so well for her, so why would she have had mental health problems.
The first episode was ponderous. The perfect boyfriend trope who is a doctor, who lives with a creepy flatmate, also a doctor. Lisa not comprehending that the latter is giving coded warnings.
Directed by Geoffrey Sax, I understand he was drafted into replace the original director who quit the production. It seems they had no idea how to deal with the bloated script.
