It takes awhile to get going
CubsandCulture14 September 2020
This episode is a fun hour of television and it is in the batting average for the show. Abaddon is wonderful antagonist and it is always fun to see her. Likewise, Kevin-Crowley have some choice moments, and the Zeke story is engaging. But as the show as gone one it has taken more and more episodes to get the main storylines up and running; it leaves less time for the monster of the week episodes and downplays the procedural elements of the show. This episode-the most of any of the start of the season-feels like it exists as a checklist to see what is up with all the characters. It has not story onto itself.

More the same with new twists.
mm-3921 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
More of the same story lines with the brothers being hunted by demons. Dean's secret saves the Boys' bacon when the Angel reveals himself; the angel angle again. However, the new twists are the captured Crowley story line which will add an intellectual battle with the boys. I believe Crowley wants to be human! Kevin Tran is the new Bobby, and will add much Y gen humor to the show. Kevin's character, I can see being the comical side for season nine. Season nine has great directing, acting, and great shot locations. I love how SuperNatural always adds or references ideas from other movies or shows like "let's go zero dark thirty on him!" devil May Care is a seven out of ten.

Zeke is gonna get caught
danajs247 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Well the whole angel possession thing is working out well as far as results are concerned, but as far as the keeping it secret part, Dean is sucking bad. Also Sam is super observant and curious as to how things are getting done, and as much as they talk about trusting each other, this is clearly not the case if they ask that many questions about a good thing. I have a feeling this is going to be the case for at least a few more episodes of Sam being weirded out by how things went down, and Dean coming up with lame lies to cover it all up. I don't like how they brought that hunter guy into the show just to kill him, I feel like TV shows should bring in random people like that way ahead of time just in case they want to kill someone later on in the series.

"Hello Boys!"
skjoe-116 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Crowley is back! Dean reveals to Sam he has kidnapped him and they agree he is a source of information regarding demon whereabouts. Another return is Abaddon, the hell knight with a hate for Crowley and wants order returned to hell. This episode kicks off with the boys taking Crowley to the bunker (much to Kevin's distress) and locking him in the basement. Soon after, Abaddon captures fellow hunters and the boys have to go to the rescue. Although it was great to see some characters return, I particularly was pleased with Sam and Dean back into investigating mode. Even though it was nothing too mysterious, seeing them put the old suits back on and check out a crime scene was a great nostalgic trip to earlier seasons. Abaddon is an OK big bad I suppose, but after seeing Lucifer and the horseman she feels slightly inferior, although I hope as the episode hints, she has some big plans for demon-kind and I hope this acts as the main threat for this season. Crowley once again steals the scene most of the time, bringing that dry charm and his charisma that fans love. Having Crowley in safe place is a great driving point for the plot, with Abaddon on his trail and he being a living encyclopedia of demonology, I hope we see more developments with him and his "human side" We also got a glimpse at Ezekiel using his powers to kill demons through Sam, reminded me of season 4 with Sam having powers to kill demons. Overall another great early episode, my only concern is making this season all about Sam, as the previous season neglected Dean slightly. However with all the characters having their own problems, it shows this season can have plenty of promise...

Drama and abaddon
shwetafabm28 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Abaddon is back and she is a knight, i did like how they made the whole Crowley was a salesman and she is a knight thing, the actress also has a really good evil red look. Dean and Sam go on another suicide mission..you know after almost losing Sam and making a big deal about it. They have some regrets and an angel in Sam. Kevin gets some character development but i don't know why Dean says the mom is dead in ways that matter... Weird just say that they'll try to get it out of Crowley because that's what they would do. It was an ok ep but i feel the drama is extending, not that i mind the little bit of Kevin we got, i liked it

Promising season
nyue_6 November 2023
Once again it seems like Dean got an angel hooked for him and I am here for it. I just hope Ezekiel is actually a good guy. He seems quite likeable for now and also trustworthy. Plus it would really come in handy to have once again an angel on their side especially now that Cass lost his grace. Kinda sad Dean's calling him Zeke though since I always thought Ezekiel is such a pretty name.

Anyways, I kinda like the whole fallen Angel plotline and am pretty curious where this season takes us. In particular I'm really looking forward to see more of human Castiel. I finally see hope he gets back to the character I used to love after being a pain in the ass for the past three seasons. I'm not really fond of Abbadon though especially since I still can't think about how dumb it was to sew her back together in the first place. But well it was for the plot I guess, I'm just praying her scenes won't be too annying.

Nevertheless I feel like this is gonna be a pretty good season I look forward to binge watch the next few days.

Dean - Abaddon team
Aries_Primal27 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have to say this season started so well and this episode is killer one!

Starting with Crowley who you can't hate no matter what, Cas being in trouble, and Sam being back in even bigger mess.

But what was the best is team Dean - Abaddon. Watching them fight, it was another level of experience. It was hot! Show needed badass rock chick like her, and the actress have that impression of a strong girl with classic beauty. No matter she is a bad one I loved her.

Dean against her was one of the best fights in the entire Supernatural series. I am rewatching sll the seasons after all this time, and guess what, I am enjoying it on max!

Looking like a good year.

Warning: Spoilers
Season 8 was all for nothing. Everything they tried to prevent, happened anyway. Good job guys... So far season 9 has a more intriguing arc. And better writing too. I'm still not on board with the way angels are portrayed as bullies. But I can overlook that, with a new season that seems to be renewing old and tired storylines. And with a better vilain too, named Abbadon. Sam, who's part time possessed by an Angel himself. Made season 9 even more intriguing. Even though I liked Kevin helping the brothers, deal with that very angry lady soldier. I hope writers will get rid of him, and his whiny voice, soon... The part with Sam and Dean rescuing the hunters, was another highlight of that episode. The fact that Castiel is once again a human, and lost somewhere, is getting tiresome. So not everything looks perfect, and I need to rewatch the whole season, to forge my opinion on it. One thing's for sure, these first two episodes, are better than last year's premiere.
