If you really know what happened ignore the podcasts and watch this instead.

This is a local story for me and since 2016 99% of the documentaries/podcasts have consisted of reporters interviewing each other or talking to peripheral members of the Wagner or Rhoden families and their friends. Early on the judge in this case issued a gag order so law enforcement and the lawyers involved were not allowed to speak. The genuine witnesses seem to stay off the media's radar too. This show was filmed AFTER George's trial and is the first program to feature BCI agents, local law enforcement and lawyers (including the prosecutor) involved in the case. The gag order has obviously been lifted so this not a show with a bunch of wanna-be-crime-solvers basely speculating. I was very pleased to see this finally.

I've noticed some other reviewers complaining about our governor being featured. DeWine was Attorney General when this happened and the crime was so horrific and such big news that he flew down to Pike county from Columbus the state capital the day the shooting were discovered. DeWine's handling of the recent train derailment disaster is irrelevant to his participation in this investigation.

Maybe because I've been aware of the case since 2016 and have followed all the news coverage, I don't find it difficult to follow how all the victims and perpetrators were related to each other. I thought the show did an excellent job spelling that out. Chris Newcome, Angela Wagner's half brother, provides excellent insight into the workings of the Wagner family, much needed if you want to get your head around the motive for these crimes.

I tuned into this not expecting good things at all and was very pleasantly surprised at the thoroughness and quality of this show. This is the first and so far only program I can recommend to anyone wanting to understand this case.

when morbidity becomes...

Warning: Spoilers
So fascinating, something must be wrong with me, i think after binging this true crime family vs. Family saga produced by KT studios and broadcasted by oxygene. Or is it just that its an overwhelmingly well made production by the production crew and director?

What i really appreciate about this serie is the 100% lack of dramatization, a way oxygene productions are overburdened with usually, and that scores high when watching tlc-tv.

I also wonder why they just made 3 episodes over this, still not finished, case that has such a vast amount of evidence and investigative material out there. Other filmakers would ve considered this for at least 6 episodes,, just to saturate you with some of the proof thats out there. But i know more will come after the last trial has been conducted.

Till then, do listen to the grumpy old mans recommend, this murder story is really a squeezer for generations to come.

Far Too Salacious....

There's a lot of information to process with this crime and so much unnecessary and ridiculously insidious information put into the fray- from George's gross attorney making numerous excuses, to people who have the audacity to claim that these hilljacks weren't capable of doing precisely what they did, to details of Angela's half-brother gossiping about things he really didn't need to say, there's so much information that didn't need to be here, and this could have been one episode of 1-2hours.

Devine has showcased his ineptitude numerous times from this murder case, all the way to the train derailment that poisoned people, and his statements regarding illegal drug use by the victims was completely and utterly absurd. When he was actually claiming that these murders could be connected to Mexican cartels we knew what an absolute moron he was. I'm glad these producers did put this in, so perhaps the voters in Ohio can be competent enough to remove him from office.

This defense attorney is beyond pathetic, and that he's allowed to ramble on and on with no pushback from anyone is beyond disgusting- the statements he makes and the accusations he hurls is incomprehensible, and George deserves exactly what he got. That the prosecution allowed Angela to walk away from this crime with only 30 years is beyond disgusting- she was absolutely the mastermind of this entire debacle and all should be in prison until they're vacated from this earth. How people can, in good conscience, do what these abominations did is beyond contempt and that Billy thinks he can withstand a trial is the most shameful and grotesque aspect remaining.

There's so much that didn't need to be shown here but yet, unless you can sift through the unnecessary drama with a quick fast forward, you're going to find yourself watching a lot of pointless nonsense.

Ready to Create a Family Tree of Felons?

I love following true crime, but the first 30 minutes are incredibly difficult to follow, even if you rewind numerous times. Jake's brother Billy Wagner, who is Hannah's baby dad, and also Gary's cousin that's best friend's with the Wagner dad growing up lived together. But they were introduced by the friend of the cousin that was 20 years older than the Rhodes daughter who lived with the Wagner's... if you can follow that logic of hearing 20 names and piecing together family ties (and not all pertinent) and in the first 30 minutes then this is the show for you. Not worth it for these idiots. I feel dumber watching it. 3 minutes on Wikipedia better explained it and saved me over 2 hours.
