Entertainment, a slapstick comedy by Sajid – Farhad, turns out to be a light entertainer. I could hear people bursting out into laughter inside the theatre and kept on wondering why the movie didn't excite me enough. In spite of my personal dislike for this genre, let me put across my review without any bias. Can't deny the fact that the movie's tone is very light. The titular character of the movie is Entertainment – a dog which was named so since he was the only source of entertainment for his rich-but-lonely master. The title is even justified by one-liners having mention of the Bollywood Personalities, Bollywood Movies' names and Television Serials / Personalities. Digs at various TV shows viz. Teleshopping, Weight Reduction Capsules, Serials with Family Melodrama are also taken. Emotional connect between human beings and pets, the need to take care of the pets, possessing the virtues of the pets viz. loyalty and courage are also projected. Logic, no room for the same in this movie since this is how, it is meant to be – Mindless Entertainment. This is definitely very much unlike the whole slew of comedy films which we have seen in the recent past. You may enjoy watching this movie, if you like comedy movies. The movie begins with Riteish Deshmukh as a host of TV show which is into teleshopping of Jagtap Capsules for miraculous weight reduction and showcases one of the beneficiary as Akhil Lokhande (Akshay Kumar). Akhil is working extra hours / odd jobs viz. dancing, modelling, umpire for local cricket competition etc. and leaves no stones unturned for earning more so as to take care of his ailing father (Darshan Jariwala) who is hospitalized since one year. Jugnoo (Krushna Abhishek), Akhil's friend, runs DVD parlour "Mere Paas CineMAA Hai" and he speaks dialogues with inane cross-references to Bollywood movie names, personalities. Jugnoo is completely filmy. Akhil's romantic interest is soap-opera actress Sakshi (Tamannaah Bhatia). Sakshi's stingy and greedy father (Mithun Chakraborty) challenges Akhil and tells him to earn at least a crore to get Sakshi in his life. Akhil learns that his biological father is Bangkok Diamond King Pannalal Johri (Dalip Tahil), multi-billionaire. The happiness factor hasn't even sinked in that a TV news flashes in regard to Pannalal's death. Akhil flies to Bangkok for funeral and to claim the property. But his dreams get shattered, when he gets further shock from Pannalal's Urdu-spouting Manager Habibullah (Johny Lever) that the whole property has been inherited by Entertainment (Junior - a pet dog). An envious and agonized Akhil decides to stay back and compete with the dog to inherit 3000 crores. Akhil along with Jugnoo employs all sorts of wiles to keep Entertainment, the dog, at bay. They try various methods to annihilate Entertainment viz. electric shock, seduction, chloroform, poison etc. Villainous siblings Karan-Arjun (Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood), Dabbang 1 and Dabbang 2 villains, second cousins of Pannalal also enter the scene so as to claim the property of Pannalal. What happens thereafter ? Does Akhil keeps fighting with the dog or he starts fighting for the dog against Karan-Arjun? How does the drama unfold? Undoubtedly the star of the show is Entertainment, the retriever dog. Akshay has done this in the past as well. Krushna is entertaining in a total filmy style, and is noticeable. Mithun da and Tamannah have less screen time. Johny Lever is good. Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood don't generate hatred rather funny. Dalip Tahil is seen mostly in a framed garlanded portrait.

There is a scene, where Entertainment and its canine mates, ranging from Bulldogs, Pugs, Alsatians, German Shepherd etc. show up in great numbers and sit together in a luxurious car is hilarious.

A Typical Indian No-Brainer, Watch It For Witty One Liners

This movie comes from the director duo Sajid-Farhad, who have wrote dialogs for the Golmaal series and many other. Acting wise Krishna and Johny Lever make you tickle, rest all are just average. Screenplay, editing and other aspects are bad!! Yes, its a no brainer,but i have given this movie 5 stars because of the dialogs!!! They are hilarious, witty, fabulous etc. The credit for this goes to Sajid-Farhad. They are arguably the most underrated duologue writers!!!

Bottom line, it brings out the kid in you, movie leaves you with a message,you can enjoy this movie as a stress buster but besides one liners, its awfully bad!!

Entertainment Review

Obviously this is a great comedy film starring by Akshay Kumar and some other legend stars. But the exact thing is I was not able to understand the finishing of this movie and the moral/meaning of the story. It is nothing but a comedy film without any core story. The starting is quite good and I have watched it till Interval to understand the exact story but however, I was not able to do so. Let's see how much money Entertainment can get. I think, it should not be more than 30 Cr. By the way, I love the dog called Entertainment and Mithun sir's comedy in this film. Hope we will get better films by Akhil's from the next time. BTW, Tamaannah was also better than previous films.

A relief for Sajid Khan; Competitor for Humshakals! Very Bad. Avoid.

ENTERTAINMENT: "SIMPLY ZERO ENTERTAINMENT; SAVE YOUR BUCKS" (0.5/5)

I just want to keep the review shortest as possible because the heavy headache after watching this outrageously stupid movie ain't stepping out! 1st thing- The trailer was not so bad. Plus, I expected something good from Mr.Kumar in comic genre since his last few outings had been ridiculous (Baring Special 26 & the decent Holiday). But, I am completely blown away. What the hell?, oh no, let me correct; Why the hell he signs movies like this? I have lost my trust on him.

The movie is completely trashy. It can compete well with Humshakals and definitely be on top worst movies of Akshay.

The Gags (no LOL moment. Even you can't smile properly) are very bad. Even the scenes looked stretched because they bore you down badly. Krushna starts very early in the movie with his one liners and starts in a bearable way but by the end, it gets so much annoying that you just wanna move out of the theater.

Just for the sake of reviewing here and at least trying to save your hard earned money, I watched it till the very last song in the credits. Otherwise I had a very strong urge many times to just leave this torturous movie.

The music is poor. JOHNNY- JOHNNY too sounded very bad with the flow of the movie.

Performances are no doubt worse. Must say, Johnny lever was best of the lot accompanied with the Smart Dog- Junior.

I just don't wanna review further. It sucked badly. Also, the movie ain't for family audience. Vulgar and cheap jokes too included. My Friday gone bad.

Anyways, Guardians of the Galaxy awaits to be watched tonight.

1.5/5 Perhaps I had a subconscious desire to torture my inner being. If that was so, I have succeeded spectacularly. I don't remember the last time I watched an Akshay Kumar(AK) movie. But, after enduring his brand of "Entertainment" , I know that I will not be subjecting myself to his brand of juvenile antics ever, in this life time or the next. My already low expectations were deadened within the first two minutes which show a morbidly obese AK thrusting his nipple into the mouth of a wailing child. Yeah, you read that right. The humor is low brow and crass. However, with some "so bad it's good" one liners in the first half, the film gallops along. Sitting through the second half was like trying to laugh with a mouth full of broken glass. The mindless script becomes maudlin and the sporafic fun vanishes. It is a torture, full of clichés. Sonu Sood and Prakash Raj play the loving brothers, Karan and Arjun, who throw a spanner in AK's wheels. Sood actually does a good job of playing the dimwitted younger brother and their banter in the first half brought smile to my visage. Tamanna should be prepared for the second dud of her career after the disaster of "Himmatwala". All she does is stand in a saree or a sarong and mouth dialogues mocking Balaji serials. Her act gets old in the very first shot which speaks volumes about her acting capabilities. AK should be asked to see his previous ten movies. He looks and acts the same in all the same, as far as I could glean from their trailers. He really needs to stop being a part of such shite as early as possible or else the curtains can come down really soon on his career. The real villain of the movie is the bloody script. Majority of Its dialogues rhyme like the cult classic Gunda. I just wish they were half as funny as that once in a lifetime experience.

U Cant Even Think of a worst Movie

I Will Tell u the story in short. This Movie tends to entertain us. But It is More Likely to be HUMSHAKALS, Its actually Humshakals part 2. The most funny part is only the dog in the movie. He is the main hero of the film. Akshay kumar should stop doing idiotic movies. And he also should start reading scripts before signing a film. The filmm has nothing to do with entertainment at all. Tamanna bhatia is panoti to all the movies she is doing i guess. Coz this will be her third Flop film. Himmatwaala, HUMSHAKALS and now Its Entertainment. The film has basic plot and ull be just glued to ur screen thinking OK "a dog can really read books? A dog can really switch on and off switch?" In short go at ur own risk.

A comedy which could have been better with right direction and script

After watching the trailer of It's Entertainment , my expectation were shadowed with not-so-great dialogs and lame theme. I was right after watching the film as well. It's Entertainment is an acid test you have to go through to test your intelligence.

After discovering about his billionaire dad in Bangkok, Akhil travels to inherit 3000 crore legacy. To his surprise , the legacy has already been inherited by none other than a dog who is called Entertainment by his owner. To make the matter worse, there are two wolves-like-uncles who is after the legacy as well. Akhil must hatch a plan to recover his wealth before it falls into the wrong hands.

As a first time directors, Sajid-Frahad ( who earlier scripted Golmaal 3, Chennai Express ) fails to create any impact. The movie is neither a animal-loving nor a slapstick comedy film. The screenplay is fitted with too many loop holes. Art direction is magnus with high production value. Cinematography is top notch. Songs are fine. Dialogues are humorous. The only saving grace in the film is the performances. Akshay Kumar leads the way with perfect comic timing. He is outstanding and brings down the house with his antics. Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood comes in late but will tickle your funny bone with their "Karan-Arjun" brotherly act. Tamannah looks gorgeous but is just abut okay. Mithun over-acts.

Overall, a comedy which could have been better with right direction and script. Below average 1.5 /5

Another crap by sajid

Who really reviewed this movie with 7+ rating? Through out the movie there wasn't a single moment which might have made me laugh. This movie has joke stolen from adds or joke books. They named movie as Entertainment just to attract people, in reality there in no entertainment in it. Even the graphics used in this movie are crappy and only one location is setup. The technical things in the movie are also so bad that it made me cry thinking of people who find all this stupidity funny. Go and watch Charlie Chaplin movie which had no dialogue but yet are more funny than your movie Sajid.

Good for : Nothing but the loyalty dialogue delivered by Akshay in the interval.

Why not to watch ? If you care for your money and time and actually want to see the movie then you better not go for this one.

"It's Entertainment" a Must Watch Comedy

"It's Entertainment", directed by the duo Sajid-Farhad, is a comedy as well as Romantic film.

Actor Akshay Kumar along with Tamannah Bhatia has done a good job, providing good fun at frantic pace.

Akshay's co-actor, Junior, the Golden Retriever dog, had been a lovely speechless actor in the movie.

The music of the film is entertaining as well.

Johnny Lever as Habibullah Sheikh is a happening comedian and has played a nice role.

Sonu Sood and Prakash Raj have delivered their negative roles in comedian way conforming to the nature of the film.

To sum up, "It's Entertainment" will provide good entertainment to the viewers.

Unabashedly Silly!

Sajid-Farhad, the talented Writer duo, turn Directors with 'Entertainment'. And fortunately, 'Entertainment' is unabashedly silly & offers some funny moments, that work on its favor. Its mad, but its a bit fun too.

'Entertainment' Synopsis: A down on his luck fella, gets the shock of his life, when he realizes that all his father's wealth has been given to a dog. Chaos follows...

'Entertainment' has an interesting premise & the Writer-Director duo manage to deliver some over-the-top, but funny sequences in the goings-on. The humor here is clearly absurd & it doesn't shy away from that fact, which in turn, works on its advantage.

The first-hour passes by nicely, with the sequences between Akshay & Dog, doing the trick. But, the second-hour is where the film begins to slip. The entire track involving the greedy brothers, played by Prakash Raj & Sonu Sood, is prolonged & barely funny. The climax, however, is decent.

Sajid-Farhad certainly make a watchable comedy, but this isn't a laugh-riot. It has its share of fun, but it could've been so much more! A stronger second-hour was the need of the day! As Directors, the duo have done a fair job. Cinematoraphy is okay. Editing is passable. Music by Sachin-Jigar is lovely.

Performance-Wise: Akshay is in his element, delivers a sincere, comedic performance from start to end. Tamannaah looks great, but hardly gets any scope to perform. Mithun Chakraborty is in form, yet again. Johny Lever brings the house down. He's hilarious! Krushna, also, manages to bring in some great laughs. Prakash Raj & Sonu Sood are passable. Vrajesh Hirjee scores in a cameo. Junior as Entertainment, the dog, is adorable.

On the whole, 'Entertainment' will appeal to those who primarily enjoy slap-stick comedies.

Love your animals because they will give the most ENTERTAINMENT. Akshay at his comic best, a ROARING comedy!!!

Akhil (akshay) is a common man struggling to make ends meet because his father (darshan) is hospitalized. But Akhil is shocked to hear that his real father is the diamond merchant Pannalal (dalip tahil) based in Bangkok. Twist occurs when Pannalal dies and Akhil goes to Bangkok to claim his inheritance. The entire fortune is written on the name of 'Entertainment'- Pannalal's pet dog. What happens from there forms the rest.

The director has come up with a whacky storyline and while the presentation was rich, the narrative was great. The dialogues were well written and full of entertainment. The script was okay but the screenplay added amazing energy. The background score was melodious and three songs were worth watching. Cinematography was the main strength to this film. Editing was good. Costumes were well designed to suit the royalty while the art department was majestic. Akshay Kumar delivers yet another cracker with his performance, his comic timing is great, and he proves why he is one of best actor we have today. Tamannah is not just beautiful but has a very seductive appeal in her which is hard to resist. Krishna Abhishek was superb, Johnny Lever was outstanding. Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood have amazing chemistry, and bring the houses with there karan-arjun act. The cameos by other celebrities were effective. The golden retriever Junior named Entertainment in the film is the scene stealer though he proves that every dog has his day.

It is not often that one gets to see the man-animal flicks and that too in Indian cinema but this one was a brave and a good attempt. The first half revolves around the elements of comedy, romance and some hilarious moments. Even the interval bang was exciting. The second half gets a bit sentimental but the scenes work and make you moisted eyed.The last thirty minutes picks up and brings back the energy, comedy and ample laughter. Overall, this is a film which is meant for entertainment seeking audience, the film has ample laughter, some emotion, great music, and above all the film has an an amazing dog and great message that love your animals because they give you the best ENTERTAINMENT. A must watch

Entertainment is real pack of Full on entertainment. Script is really good as per movies demand. Witty Dialogues makes movie more better. Comic scenes are hilarious, makes you lots of laugh.

Music of movie is strictly OK.

Akshay is back with bang in comic role. He's superb as always. Krishna performed well. Johny lever is nice in comic role. Tammana looks beautiful and gorgeous. Prakash raj, sonu sood both are Good in negative role. Mithun chakraborthy acted well. Real hero of the movie is Entertainment(Dog).

On the whole, ENTERTAINMENT is a joy ride that lives up to its title. Go, laugh out loud and get entertained! Go for it...

Entertainment, really?? Only grace is the golden retriever

The movie starts with the statement that no animals were harmed during the shooting of this film, but let me warn you that the dog must have been bored to death dealing with this stuff. Well that is a type of harm (i assume!) The start of the movie goes well off but as the show (?) goes on this is just another 'Humshakals'. Repeat dialogues are not funny my dear friend/s. personally, i felt some dialogues were racist too!! of the star cast no one does justice to their part. also the sad part is that the screenplay is so messy and there seems to be no continuity. of all the lot prakash raj, johny lever and sood stand out (best in the worst). i dunno y these beautiful regional damsels agree to do these movies where they have no role at all. genuine opinion my beautiful ladies, stick to meatier regional roles rather than just trying to shine in bollywood. i hope u get my point tamannah (refresh: u did kallori n paiyaa n 100% love n etc etc). sajid farhad should do what they do best n just stick to writing i assume. the two stars are for the poor dog, johny lever, prakash raj n sonu sood. the only good thought i felt when the movie ended was - thank god its over!!! Stay away from the cinemas if u can for this flick!

Grossly Overrated - Too Much Over The Top

I bought this VCD thinking it would be a good comedy film. Well, it is a comedy but way too over the top.

The dialogues are over parodied and not that funny especially in the first half. There are some truly funny moments in the latter half but overall this is not a movie that I would want to watch ever again.

I fast forwarded over several scenes that were just plain going on and on.

The last good comedy of Akshay Kumar's was Khiladi 786. He was superb in Special 26 and in Holiday, but Entertainment though light years better than the unwatchable Boss, can safely be given a miss.

To be fair, I think children might enjoy it and have a good laugh throughout.

Certified - Akshay Kumar's Worst Movie

Dreadful, banal, trite, and a total waste of time - this has got to be Akshay Kumar's worst movie bar none. The jokes are unbearably bad and fall completely flat - the humor is not just cringe-worthy, it's blatantly forced and absolutely mind-numbing. Sample few of these lines – "I Rajni-can't", "Jaisi bharni waisi Mamta Kulkarni", "Tere to Jacq- ueline lag gaye", "Yeh Sonakshi- seena tan ke kaha ja rahe ho".

The plot and narration are not just non-existent, they reach the point where you actually question your decision of falling for the whole ruse of leaving your brains elsewhere and watching the film - something such films and filmmakers pride themselves on these days; whatever is their reasoning I wouldn't even dare to comprehend it. You regret your decision to the point where realization grabs a hold of you - and you don't have to wait for too long into the movie for this realization to dawn upon you – that this is where you should have drawn the line of falling for the whole "leave your brains behind" ho-hum. You now understand the difference between not using your brains while watching a simple, entertaining movie (read analyzing every single scene of a movie just meant to entertain you), and wantonly repressing your commonsense to be blindly follow the tide. More was expected from Director-writer duo, Sajid-Farhad, as they have delivered decent efforts in the past such as "All The Best", "Housefull 2", " Bol Bachchan", and "Chennai Express". Guess, this highlights the need of a competent Director to handle a script (Rohit Shetty has directed most of their erstwhile screenplays).

Barring Akshay Kumar and Johnny Lever, every other actor on screen completely hashes their parts, which may again be in part due to the Director duo's briefing of their roles. Alas, despite Kumar and Lever bringing all their experience to the fore and somehow managing to salvage their weakly scripted parts, they can't do enough to salvage the deplorable proceedings on film. Krsihna Abhishek is the worst of the lot. He isn't just over-the-top - which is necessary for some characterizations – he completely over-the-hill and comes across as jarring and garish. Goes to show that every stand-up comedian isn't automatically suited for big-screen comedic roles. Making people laugh on stage with a stand-up act and performing before the camera are two very disparate things. Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood are completely wasted, while Tamannaah Bhatia still can't act to save her life– which isn't half as bad cause she at least delivers what we expect from her, something that can't be said for anything else unfolding on screen. Mithun Chakraborty is given the most poorly written role and hackneyed dialogs of his career, and he hams it up to the point that you forget this is after all a 3-time National Award winning and 2-time Filmfare winning actor.

If "Entertainment" could be summed up in one sentence, then this statement would do it justice: "Avoid at all cost if you possess even a semblance of commonsense and value its existence as part of what helps you think as a rational human being."

Timepass film

After Ashish Mohan(Khiladi 786) Another member of Rohit Shetty crew Sajid-Farhad who were dialogue writers of RS's earlier films make their directorial debut with this film. The film stands on a feeble plot which hardly makes sense but their mantra is to make you laugh and some jokes are totally funny, special mention must give to the dialogues especially those mouthed by Krushna while also by Akshay. The first half relies on Akshay trying to kill the dog who becomes the inheritor of the property worth 3000 crores(Don't ask) and before interval 2 more inheritors Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood come in the picture who are the villains(as predicted) and then we have Akshay's change of heart The first half is quite funny but at times the comedy is too outlandish, at times straight out of Tom n Jerry but yet it's funny. The interval point is well handled however corny it may seem. The second half has some good jokes but at times things do get repetitive,There is a funny take off on Pyaar Kiye Jaa but the aftermath is stretched for too long, The pre-climax action scene looks straight out of rohit Shetty films while the climax relies on melodrama but it's well handled. At times some jokes are not funny too

Direction by Sajid-Farhad is decent for debutantes The directors follow the Rohit Shetty Mantra with digs on Petrol Price in one scene, to TV Soaps.etc and it works at times and at times things are overdone but overall good debut Music is good, Tera Naam Doon is nice melidious, while Johny Johny is decent, rest are okay Dialogues are throughly hilarious

Akshay Kumar as always entertains, at times he does get too loud but it works well,Tamannah plays A TV Soap actress and does well Krushna is hilarious in his role, he gets support of some of the best lines which is a mix of Hindi films and Actresses.etc and he carries it off well,at times though being too loud but it works for such a film. It's a surprise to see Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood in a comedy set up and though both play villains, they have given some comedy While Prakash Raj has done it before more in Tamil Cinema he carries it off well, Sonu Sood struggles a bit but does well no doubt. To add to their fun, the makers add A Karan Arjun title song whenever they fight. Johny Lever for once is in control and does a good job in his role, Amongst rest, Dalip Tahil has one scene, Mithun is become a regular in Akshay's films and is okay nevertheless, The film has cameos by Ritiesh Deshmukh,Shreyas Talpade, Remo Dsouza,Darshan Jhariwala and all are okay.

Not Much of an Entertainment

After a successful stint as writers of Golmaal series, Bol Bachchan, Housefull etc the brother duo Sajid-Farhad debut as directors with "Entertainment".

For the last few movies that I watched in the comedy genre there has been a flaw, in the second half the comedy becomes a mundane caricature and there are hardly any laughs, the same flaw is pertinent in "Entertainment" as well.

Story by K Subhash tells us the story of Akhil Lokhande (Akshay Kumar) who is struggling to make his ends meet, suddenly has a strike of luck when he discovers that he is the son of multi millionaire Pannalal Johri (Dalip Tahil) who is dead. When he reaches to claim his fortune he comes to know that his father has willed his entire property to his favorite pet dog Entertainment (Junior). The rest of the movie tells us how Akhil & Entertainment fight for the fortune.

Well the story premise sounds silly but the screenplay by Sajid-Farhad makes it completely chaotic. The first half still has some laughs but in the second half the screenplay falls completely flat with mundane sequences and forced situations which look completely out of place. Overall the screenplay's funny quotient depletes in the second half and looks kiddish.

Dialogues by Sajid-Farhad themselves sound funny initially but it gets repetitive and starts irritating. Sajid-Farhad dialogues have too much emphasis on rhyming of dialogues, which initially brings some laughs but later becomes too repetitive and sounds jarring.

Hamming is passed as acting in this movie. Akshay Kumar as Akhil the main protagonist tries hard to act funny but is successful initially but later he becomes repetitive and hams incessantly. Krushna hams all throughout the movie. Johnny Lever still is successful is bringing some laughs. Tamanah Bhatia is the decorative piece of the movie. The two villains played by Prakash Raj & Sonu Sood add up to the buffoonery. Cameos by Reteish Deshmukh, Shreyas Talpade & Choreography Remo D'Souza are wasted. Mithun Chakraborty in a guest appearance has nothing much to do in this madness. The real hero is the dog Junior, whenever he is on the screen it is a delight but unfortunately the screen time of Junior is in the first half and then in the climax.

Music by Sachin-Jigar is nothing to write home about, rather the tunes seems a rehashed version of their previous movie "FALTU". Even the choreography by Remo D'Souza is average. Cinematography by Manoj Soni looks too artificial, what with too much of color being used in VFX.

Sajid-Farhad's debut does not create any impact and they come up with a below average fare. If you are a dog lover you may like the movie in bits and pieces but overall it is below average...

The base of the film is ludicrous. So if you are a thinking person, then it is obvious that you will leave the theater hating the film for all reasons but one. The film conveys an already established message about pets (especially dogs), being loyal.

I wonder if the screenplay and the story was analyzed by anyone from the production team because nothing makes sense. Talking about how a late affluent diamond merchant names all his possessions worth 3000 crores in the name of a dog, the film dusts itself into the clay-brained category. And the name of this dog happens to be "Entertainment." This confirms the shallow imagination of the makers. What follows and occurs around this illogical, wildly idiotic plot is scornful. Akshay Kumar again enacts a character centered around slapstick which made me chuckle a few times in the first half. As I grew more into the funny happenings on- screen, the tasteless, rotten recipe of the plot, screenplay, fancy cinematography (with Dolby effect and all), poor editing (apparently Windows Movie Maker, version 6 was used) and unpleasant acting by some of the cast made me gag and turned me off, temporarily damaging my senses.

The second half is slower than a snail's pace and even the puns (on Bollywood actors' names and certain local terms like Star Plus and Balaji Telefilms) starts irritating. The characters act funny, but they don't induce any emotion other than disgust.

The songs may come to few people's rescue, if you are fascinated by modernized nursery rhymes, that is. Towards the end, even the dog gets all exasperated with the shindig. While it heavily borrows from international as well as our own South Indian films based animals, it falters due to the zero-pointer plot. And let me have the liberty to not talk about Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood and their sissyfied characters.

(I truly feels sorry for that epitome of fairness, Tamannah for this is her third Bollywood film that has bombed and the worst part is that she has done only three films here. While she is bubbly and some men dub her to be the smoking' hot, she seriously can't act. And those dialogs that were given to her in this film would have been rejected even by that dog)

BOTTOM LINE: Bollywood has come to a point where filmmakers are gasping for a good story and plot. This film is a good example. If the makers had dogs in mind as audience, then they are in the wrong planet and if at all I am wrong and was a dog myself, I would have rated not more than 3. Easily forgettable.

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES

In comparison to Hollywood, Bollywood has had about a dozen movies where an animal has played a significant and important role, such as the internationally acclaimed movie Life of PI (tiger), the disaster Ajay Devgan movie Himmatwala (tiger), one of the biggest hit movies of that year Teri Meherebaniya (moti the dog), the hit movie Aankhen (monkey), Betaaj Badshah(cheetah), Doodh Ka Karz(a snake), Maa (dooby the dog), Coolie (Eagle), the blockbuster Nagina (snake), the blockbuster Hum Aapke Hai Koon(tuffy the dog), super-hit Maine Pyar Kiya (kabutar the dove), and of course the super-hit Haathi Meri Saathi(Ramu the elephant).

So in 2014 we have Junior the dog in Entertainment. There is a famous saying: A DOG IS A MAN'S BEST FRIEND. This is well demonstrated and proved in this movie. Hope people of the east would take this to heart as in the western world in majority of cases domestic animals are well looked after in comparison to other parts of the world. Well acted by Junior the dog who truly deserves an award in comparison to the other characters in the movie. OK movie for the kids though some comedy may take time to digest. Hope in future Bollywood has more movies with animals playing important roles as evident the movies mentioned above and in majority of case have done well at the box-office.

Pity the dog !!

Once again an Akshay Kumar comedy which is pathetic from the word go. Frankly, he is a very good comic actor but year on year, he comes up with comic duds. It Entertainment is the same.

What angered me off was that there is a gr8 plot in this film. Akshay's father in his will gives the property to his dog. Akshay wants to kill the dog but fails. When the dog saves his life, he realizes his mistake and leaves. But the property is taken away by two scheming uncles called Karan Arjun. So Akshay is back to redeem himself.

Sounds good. But the writing and directing is so lame that I lost my senses. There was so much potential to make a fabulous comedy but its so juvenile and nothing made me laugh. The only good track was the two brothers Karan Arjun remembering their mother during each fight.

Everyone from Akshay Kumar to Prakash Raj to Johnny Lever is wasted and most of them just ham their way through and overact.

The dog..poor guy has nothing to do except a few stunt sequences. I pity the dog after watching the film.

It entertains ! Light hearted fun movie. Akshay does well again!

Reviewers look for soft targets like this type of movies to show their 'critics' writing skills. nothing matters if people in theater are laughing, this is what the film intends. Leave the einstein inside you outside the theater, and you will enjoy it.

This movie wastes no time to get funny, right from 1st minute. 1st half is simply hilarious. I agree comedy quotient goes down in 2nd half, but drama at end is good. Akshay is good as always. Johny lever, krushna, tamannah all does well too. Music is awesome. specially tera naam doon in opening credits. Johny Johny is excellent.

On the whole, it could have been better, but i leave theatre satisfied. Don't miss end credits !!!

They may call it loud or crass but I loved watching the film with the man's best four legged friend and am proud of my love too.

In all possibilities this is going to be a review which might not find many takers basically due to the new-age lifestyle we are now used to live in, keeping the heart at the last and many other things before that, ………..unfortunately.

Plus it might not be a great review for the viewers who are now habitual of watching a movie taking it as an X, Y, Z Star's film above than anything else, with an already prepared mindset irrespective of its content matter or presentation.

So accepting the criticism well in advance I would like to begin that though the film doesn't feature the animal friend as intensely as they did it in HAATHI MERE SAATHI (1971), TERI MEHARBANIYA (1985), MAA (1976/1992) or most importantly in HACHI (2009 – It will be a SIN to miss it). Still ENTERTAINMENT does offer few brilliantly shot emotional moments making you feel the value of this four legged best friend in your personal life, which many would readily agree to.

Hence first of all it rightly deserves some brownie points both for its 10 minutes before the intermission as well as the climax giving you that emotional high as expected from a film talking about our animal friends. Particularly its well shot, pre interval 'under water' sequence deserves a special mention here which straight away reminded me of a similar one (not with the water) earlier seen in the Spanish masterpiece AMORES PERROS (2000). And honestly that was one of those scary, disturbing sequences I had ever seen, which didn't let me sleep well for a few days and kept haunting me repeatedly.

Secondly other than the adorable dog, what really works in the film is its dialogue writing, which has enough comic punches to keep you in splits both in the first and second half consistently. Specifically the ones written for Krishna alone, incorporating the names of all famous film personalities in an innovative hilarious style, which frankly plays the major trick for the film most of the times.

Thirdly the songs are not thrown every 10 minutes just like that and you don't mind watching the few with all that positive energy moving. Moreover 'Johny Johny' and 'Veerey Di Wedding' surely have that catchy compositions & beats required to play in the party sessions loudly. Plus the DOP captures it all beautifully and the background score doesn't overlap the sequences as mostly seen in such comic films.

Now apart from the above, yes there is much absurd slapstick comedy in the film too which always has many distinctive reactions coming from the viewers. But thankfully this time the absurdity isn't completely flat and remains enjoyable at regular intervals basically due to the few leading good performances by the cast and their dialogues. In the flipside, the second half of the film drops majorly as the villain track doesn't work at all with an all forced in and clichéd plot having nothing much to offer.

Rating the individual acts, Akshay Kumar once again proves that he still has got much comedy left in his funny acts & incomparable timing as seen before. But what actually makes his performance look so bright are two superb supporting acts from Johny Lever and Krishna. In fact I enjoyed watching Johny Bhai after a long time and truly feel that the actor deserves much more than he is offered by the industry people. Krishna in reality becomes the lifeline of ENERTAINMENT in the first half and its indeed a treat to watch him together with Akshay & Johny saying those skillfully written one-liners naming many key actors. As the leading lady Tamanna certainly does much better than her previous films and Mithun Da is fine as her father. In the supporting act, Dalip Tahil, Darshan Jariwala and Vrajesh Hirjee are just okay, whereas Riteish Deshmukh, Shreyas Talpade and Remo D'Souza entertain well in their respective cameos right in the beginning. Sadly Prakash Raj or Sonu Sood fail to make any kind of impact on the viewer with nothing exceptional and the wonderful JUNIOR lovingly proves to be the real hero of ENTERTAINMENT in the finale song sequence.

Talking about the highly criticized illogical and silly plot of a dog becoming the owner of 3000 crores as per the will of an Indian millionaire living abroad, I would like to add (addressing many reputed reviewers here) that it seems to be the same ages old inferiority complex surfacing again somehow. Because if in a Hollywood film a cat can become the legal heir of a rich man and animals can talk with their doctor too without caring about any so called logic. Then why our Hindi films are laughed upon when they try to incorporate the same things with their hearts fitted in the right place.

Anyway, I would like to admit that before going for ENTERTAINMENT I was really expecting something similar to a Sajid Khan movie reading the names of debut directors Sajid-Farhad in the credits, who earlier were associated with Rohit Shetty in many of his famous films. But the director duo really surprised me, especially with their enjoyable writing and fine handling of a risky subject, without falling down to anything vulgar or objectionable. The duo mostly keeps the humour all clean and entertaining throughout, which is sure going to be a major merit for the project keeping in mind its family audiences.

Yet I would like to end with a clear conclusion that ENTERTAINMENT is certainly going to appeal more to the kids and the viewers who have experienced a life of several years lived with their beloved pets.

After a long time I watched a movie which is typical brainless. There is nothing at the name of story. Screenplay is logic less. They have taken the filmy liberty beyond anything. Dialogues by Director- writer duo Farhad – Sajid is good at places but most of the time goes overboard. Main plot revolves around dog but there is not a single scene where dog's performance or scene impresses. Interval point is also very thin. Climax was going on a good emotional point but then makers again prove that they believe in no emotion or logic. Whatever they think have to happen. You can't think about the happening on screen otherwise you have to bear headache. Performance wise Akshay Kumar is fine. Prakash Raj is fantastic as usual. Sonu Sood and Johny Lever are OK. Mithun Da is very good in his brief role. Nothing to say about female lead. Music is also not good except a track.

Truly Inspired by Sajid Khan's acts or flicks. Don't know about animals but we need human rights to protest.

Entertainment : First of all this movie should be shown to PETA fella's for disrespecting dog communities. I feel pity for all the dogs across the world. They should protest against the PETA stating "no need for this humiliation we can do it for ourselves". Debutante Director Duo Farhad- Sajid who has gave great inputs in earlier hits like Singham,Golmaal3,Chashme Badoor etc... this was like going in Sajid Khan's way and they succeeded as well. Coming to performances, Akshay Kumar(as Akhil Lokhande)your one line avatar was great but same old stuff...phew!!!! Akki i think your soul might have also fed up with you by doing similar roles. Tamannaah Bhatia(as Sakshi) her name length is more than her character in the film, even glamour quotient couldn't saved her. Krushna Abhishek(as Jugnu) he was funny in the pre-interval portions but as the film progresses, it became more annoying to listen him. Johnny Lever (as Advocate Habibullah) after long time seeing him full fledged role, he is the comedy king, his expressions are natural all the time. Prakash Raj(as Karan) and Sonu Sood(as Arjun) reprising the role of Salman-SRK, with background song of karan-arjun brotherly love song, truly pathetic and unbearable. Mithun Chakraborty(as Tamannaah's Father) he was wasted and most illogical line of his in the film, forcing her daughter to marry the dog and saying "after marriage every guy becomes dog, so why not marry to a dog directly" how can a father say that? . Junior(as Entertainment) he was cute,adorable and well trained. Dialogues and Screenplay by Farhad-Sajid, were you watching any Sajid Khan's act or film when you were scripting this infuriating acts? I hope other directors are listening before signing them for any inputs. If you see Hollywood, they have given so many delightful dogs flicks with genuine acts. Only two songs are leading the charts "Johnny Johnny" and "Veeray De Wedding". Verdict : * star On the whole,entertaining first half(in bits and pieces) but as the film progresses you will curse yourself. In simple words, similar like humshakals. Animal rights activists Maneka Gandhi said "no animals were harmed in this film". After watching this, humans were harmed mentally.

Shouldn't be Considered a Comedy movie

I went to this movie with huge expectations , as i am Huge Fan of Akshay Kumar since Hera pheri . The Punchlines are overdone and overacted i didn't laugh at all and the jokes that were told have been used over 100 times in movies already . Just Few Laughs here and there . The biggest disappointment was the ending IMO . There were Several Plot-holes in the movie.

Johnny Lever was the only one who delivered few laughter in the movie but that's that .

This is a Kind of a movie you can miss , i barely sat through the movie even after being huge akki fan . I felt Akshay did Way better in the movie Holiday .

Rating I am Giving 3/10 .
