The Doctor's fifth incarnation is busy looking for a kettle onboard a rather battered looking TARDIS, he's shocked to discover former companion Tegan Jovanka, the pair sit and discuss events that led to the death of Adric.
It really is Doctor Who season, and the 60th anniversary has made me want to work through the back catalogue.
So this is basically Earthshock, with some additional narration by Davison and Fielding. You could cheat, and just watch the intro and outro, but who wouldn't want to sit and watch Earthshock.
I don't need to comment on Earthshock, I did so some years ago, it is a tension story, one that holds up incredibly well, one of Davison's best, worth watching again to see that famous scene, athe Cybermen marching, and of course to see the wonderful Beryl Reid.
Davison and Fielding are a joy, we've seen the pair together many times since Resurrection, but it's wonderful to see them in character, lovely scenes, with hugging. I get the sense that we haven't seen the last of Tegan, I'm sure Russell T Davies will bring her back at some point.
How nice after all these years to see Doctor and companion discussing their time.
The only thing that surprised me somewhat, is that they didn't upscale the quality, it looks a little raw, especially compared to the blu ray.
Genuinely lovely.
9/10.
