Killer Cast, Hassel of a Movie
scythertitus4 March 2019
This film really only works if you are massively into David Hasselhoff, or if references, nostalgia and cameos are your absolute favourite parts of a movie. This has all that in spades!

Apart from that there really isn't that much ucg esle to offer here. It's not really all that funny and the story is all over the place.

Overall it's a pretty brainless comedy that relies on references to get it through, if you just want to turn your brain off then it's fine, but that's about it.

Like A University Film Project but a Few Decent Laughs
leftbanker-11 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
If something makes me laugh, even a couple of times, I can be very forgiving. It's difficult to believe that in this day and age a film project can be so incredibly amateurish. They beat a few of the jokes into the ground. The production values seemed like a bad First Communion video shot by your uncle. Still, I laughed a couple times which is more than I can say for a lot of bigger budget "comedies" of the Adam Sandler variety. Just about every decent joke in the movie they stuffed into the trailer so you really aren't going to be surprised if you bother to watch the film. It's just about what you would expect it to be: a vulgar and childish that—in my estimation—connects for a few good jokes.

It could have been so much more...
paul_haakonsen18 November 2018
I must admit that at first glance, at the title alone, I went "nah". This movie was sort of a either it fails horribly or it turns out to be a stroke of genius. And with that in mind, I sat down to watch "Killing Hasselhoff" from writer Peter Hoare and director Darren Grant.

Well, I can honestly say that the movie had an interestingly enough concept that it was founded upon, but the story of the movie just never really found its footing and it ended up as something that really didn't live up to what it could have been and failed to deliver where it could he delivered so much more.

Despite having performances from the likes of Ken Jeong, Jim Jefferies and David Hasselhoff himself, then the movie just settled on a flat mediocre speed. I must say that it was definitely the performance of Ken Jeong that carried the movie for the most part.

"Killing Hasselhoff" turned out to be a movie that was seriously lacking funny situations that would bring about laughs. If it had more top notch comedy, then it would have made for a more wholesome movie. My final rating of "Killing Hasselhoff" has to be a very generic and mediocre five out of ten stars, because this was bland. So very, very bland...

Rarely Funny Silliness
larrys329 August 2017
This film, I imagine, is meant to be a raunchy black comedy. Well, it certainly is raunchy as well as lewd, crude, and, in my opinion, terribly unfunny.

Ken Jeong stars here as Chris, whose life is in shambles and sees his only way out is to kill David Hasselhoff and win his Celebrity Death Pool, which has grown to over 500 thousand dollars.

There are some decent performances here such as Will Sasso as a loan shark, Colton Dunn as a gay hit-man, and Hasselhoff does well parodying himself.

However, it just all added up to me as painful to watch silliness. Mercifully, it's only 1 hr. and 20 min.in length.

Amateurish
siderite22 September 2017
The entire premise and outcome of the movie is in the trailer, so watching the film had to be about the jokes and the acting. And it was not funny. Oh, Hasselhoff making fun of his own inflated ego was a bit, but a very short bit, then it got old quick.

Now, this is not a bad movie that you can enjoy, it's just plain boring. It's got nothing, not even specific scenes, that is above the mediocre. I wanted very much to enjoy it, but I couldn't.

There is no super hero musical!
nogodnomasters12 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Chris Kidd (Ken Jong) finds himself in deep financial trouble. He owes Wasserstein (Will Sasso) a large amount of money. He also has Hasselhoff in the celebrity death pool and if Hasselhoff dies, Chris' money problems are over. The unfortunate thing is we know he doesn't kill David, but takes a bullet for him, the opening plot spoiler. Some of the film had some fair comedy, but the slapstick at the end dragged on and wasn't that good, bringing down the whole production.

The film also includes chocolate cake, the most beautiful chocolate cake you have ever seen.

PLOT SPOILER: They really messed up the ending. When Hasselhoff was dancing, he should have grabbed his heart and fall to the ground...even if pretending.

Guide: F-word. Nudity (Rebecca Olejniczak) Warning: also stars Howie Mandel, Jon Lovitz, and Justin Bieber.

So bad I couldn't watch it all the way through
mjsreg26 December 2017
I like Hasselhoff - he's not afraid to make fun of his image and has done some really good stuff in recent years.

But this film is pure junk right from the outset.

The acting is awful and the comedy unfunny. Whoever the lead character is (can't be bothered looking him up) is not a good actor and is ridiculously childish in the way he tries to force humour where there isn't any.

Don't bother wasting time or money on this rubbish.

"A bad movie, a movie which is below par in three major aspects such as in directing, screen play and acting"
vishnu-dileep0812 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Summary (no spoilers)

The movie is about a struggling nightclub owner who goes to desperate measures in order to pay off a loan shark.

My Review (no spoilers)

The plot of this movie was so bad that I regretted watching this movie and comedy does not mean you always crack dirty and filthy jokes which makes the audience go all yuck. Ken Jeory I think you should stick to The Hangover franchise oh wait it's done then stick as a supporting actor don't go for the main role and about the rest I can't even comment. The ending of this movie was so predictable and boring.

My Recommendation

No, it's a disaster.

My Rating

0/10.

Very Non-PC, Hilarious, Great Fun
gensbill16 November 2019
Lighten up people.

Probably the most non-PC movie made in recent times, this is a very funny film.

I don't think anyone escape ridicule. This script goes after everybody.

Hasselhoff is fantastic, skewering himself and his image with abandon and Jeong is great as well.

For those who want to laugh and won't mind the jokes, this is perfect.

What was that?
randerson-198931 August 2020
I was hoping for comedy, action, or drama but it was just really basic. I'm a 46 year old so maybe this was for a 12 year old target audience? I needed entertainment. The movie started out as a over the top mockery of the average guy, which was good. After 10 minutes it was stale and unexciting. The lines for the actors were terrible . Really really really bad writing here without much the actors could salvage.

If a movie makes me laugh several times, I can be very forgiving. And while not gut busters, they were outright honest chuckles. It has the look of a low budget, no name(s), made for TV (or straight to DVD video), and the story-line is pretty trite, but the actors do their jobs and that makes the movie entertaining.

Killing Hasselhoff
nebohr6 July 2022
Believe it or not both my wife and myself found this to be an enjoyable light hearted comedy. It is both black and ridiculous, but not overly so. My wife, young sweet thing that she was way back then, once had a crush on David Hasselhoff while I had a crush on the talking car.

The majority of the scenery consists of medically altered women in bikinis and high heels because, hey, it's California where nearly everyone exhibits narcissistic personality disorder.

Not funny at all
mindbender230222 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
A Ken Jeong movie should be hilarious. Killing Hasselhoff is an absolute disaster with no laughs whatsoever. The only good part was the few seconds where we get to see Irina Voronina sunbathing topless. She has lovely boobs... That's about it. Bye!

Warning: Spoilers
What in the world is going on when something as lame and immature as this gets approval? And to add insult to disgusting dialogue, it panders to teen age boys, but apparently several "B" comics decided to be in it, rather than not act at all. I am so surprised that Netflix would even Okay such an awful piece of garbage. As for Ken Jeong, he'll do anything just to add to his list of raunchy films.

Forced Humor.....
Otte14 August 2020
Too many people are overacting....as if bugging your eyes out automatically qualify for comedy(it doesn't). Weak story even as comedy goes, and the humor is seemed to be geared at horny 14 yrs olds.

I did not laugh, giggle, smirk or even smile. Ken the lead is a capable actor in small bursts, but not a whole movie. Even Jim Jeffries who is extremely funny, somehow could not get out a single humorous line.

Do not be fooled by the well known actors, this has the screenwriting of a very low budget, B class movie.

Many B and C list celebrities for some easygoing fun...
alex-harris-love12 December 2021
I watched this movie solely for the fact that I had no idea Jim Jeffries ever began acting (second funniest standup comedian behind Bill Burr in my opinion) and figured he helped write the script but unfortunately, he did not. As a result, it was nowhere near as funny as it could or should have been but Colton Dunn (Redix) did have two very hilarious scenes which provided as the only funny parts of the movie. The movie is not boring or dull but lacking in comedy and jokes which is what I base any comedy movie's greatness on. From Ken Jeong to David Hasselhoff, Rick Fox, Kid Cudi, and even a cameo by Justin Bieber, there was enough star power to make it interesting but the screenwriting was lacking which was unfortunate. The movie had a great concept, though. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone but you should enjoy it if you decide to watch it after all.

Looks and feels low budget
fischer_patrick25 May 2022
This movie had a decent amount of funny jokes and gags, but it wasn't enough to make it a good movie. It looked and felt like a low budget film throughout. Ken Jeong and Rhys Darby were funny, and the Hoff himself had his moments. It just didn't click as a good story or movie. It felt like they filmed the first draft of the screenplay. That being said, if you are a fan of Jeong's stand up then it's worth a watch.

"Don't Hassle the Hoff"
Kamurai252 August 2020
Good watch, would watch again, and can recommend.

I'm sure people are still a fan of David Hasselhoff, but I think the joke (since about "Piranha DD") is becoming that he's not famous anymore. This movie seems to have elements where that seems to be the case, and other where it seems to be a celebration of how he's still famous enough.

I honestly love watching Dr. Ken Jeong work, he's a funny guy, and I think he's by far the funniest person in this movie. Will Sasso just has a joke of a character, nothing really funny performance-wise, and Rhys Darby is the next funniest, but only because his character is insane. Colton Dunn spends most of it making gay jokes that I neither really understood or felt comfortable with, though the concept of having to kill someone you love is very intriguing, just not all that funny.

There are a lot of funny people in this movie, but they're wasted on some situational comedy more than anything else. A lot of the movie is just bad things happening Ken, and while I would have been more amused if it was (for example) Ben Stiller ("Duplex"), it is because I like Ken Jeong that it's more sad than funny at points.

This is one of those comedies written by comedians for comedians, and is lost on general audiences somewhat because they're not direct enough. While the joke is the scene, and the scene itself is somewhat funny, it is the verbal jokes that really stand out, and they're few and far between.

Situational comedy is fine, but it takes a lot of work for it to pay off so we're spending a lot of time establishing the setup for the joke or explaining why it's funny.

I think it was mostly just that I wasn't in the mood to laugh at someone's life falling apart, but I really think this could have been great instead of just good.

This was pretty bad. This movie should have been killed and not the Hoff. The Hoff had some good jokes in this though.

I absolutely love the Hoff (everyone loves him). I´m after a surgery and laying in bed for long time and this movie gaves me such a good laugh. Enjoyed every minute. :) The surprise guests were good choices, the music and the jokes are on point. 10/10 I haven´t enjoyed a comedy so much since the Other Guys. :)))

Loved the Hasselhoff parts... didn't like the rest
contact-28228 August 2020
The guy is funny as heck. The movie was only interesting when he was in the shot. The rest of the movie is bad. JJ can't really act. The whole thing was quite boring mostly. Only Hasselhoff and the gay assassin were truly enjoyable to watch. The rest of the movie was blah.

This movie sneaks up on you.
draciron21 August 2020
If you are looking for a plot synapses, there isn't one. The movie is one giant chain reaction. There are a lot of running jokes, each building up to a hilarious climax of absurdity. Hasselhoff spoofs himself amazingly well. I was never a Baywatch or Knightrider fan, so whatever inside jokes there were about those series was lost on me. However big Hasselhoff fans I'm sure would enjoy the movie even more. The movie takes a lot of pokes at Hollywood, adventure movies, PC culture, LA culture, even Ted Nudgent. Does so not in a mean spirited way though. It's sad that the craft of comedy has fallen so silent. Basically hour and a half fart jokes is what most comedies are about. This one offers plenty of slapstick but also more subtle jokes. Most of all it has a Robin Williamsesqu love of how absurd life is. In the end it's just fun. No politics, no preaching, no agenda, just a fun time and plenty of laughs.

Incredibly funny!!!!
tstudstrup23 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I love David HasselHoff. He is a terrible actor, but thats not a problem. What I love about him is that he has absolutely no shame what so ever. He will do anything for money.- Including real life hilarious commercials for a danish internet providing company, where he plays a parody of himself.

In this movie he also plays a great parody of himself. A 66 year old has-been, that is so narcissisticc that he has tattoos on his body with variation of his name. Including a name for his balls.

He has a plan for a great comeback. A superhero-musical.

Chris Kim (Ken Jeong fom Hangover in Vegas) is hiilarious as desperate nightclub owner who needs money. He has a celebrity death pool going with his dumb friends, hoping Hasselhoff will die in some freak accident, so he can cash in and save his nightclub.

But HasselHoff wont die so Chris Kim has to take matters in to his own stupid hands.

Rhys Darby is incredibly funny as one of his friends: Fish that ends up in a mental asylum after hallucinating at a boardmeeting where he thinks he sees his girlfriends lover and he attacks his boss.

Expect to laugh throughout the movie. Expect The Hoff to act as a lifeguard, expect him to sing, excpect him to cry. And you will not be dissapointed and you will laugh so hard. If youre not a fan of HasselHoff and/or you have no sense of humor, however, you wont like this.

But if you are a fan and you do have a sense of humor, you will love this.
