Much ado about nothing

Like most newer documentaries this one has no distinct focus. I prefer the older style documentaries that had a narrator., or subtitles that described the content or focus of what was being presented. This one is definitely freeform. You have to follow each rambling segment as the characters unfold.

The tagline " Traveling around broke and hungry" is deceptive. None of the train riders seem to have trouble finding tobacco, alcohol and / or drugs. They survive by foraging, panhandling or theft. Their typical story is rebelling against their upbringing, either working or middle class, as told thru a series of monologues from people definitely under the influence.

The violence and short lifespans associated with their lifestyles is underplayed. It glorifies a refusal to grow up, Peter Pan syndrome. The hypocrisy shines thru as they get jobs, gain material possessions and then bemoan their existence.
