Worst Ever

I've seen better acted porn. To be fair the actors didn't have much of a script to work with. Please don't waste your time like I did.

Student film?
sterhill-12 May 2020
Nicely shot. Nicely dressed. Strange lighting. The story just doesn't hold your attention and the actors seem like they are cold reading their lines. What a mess.

Worst Western of all time
shelbygrl2410 September 2013
Very poor budget film, some of the cast's attire was that not of even the time period. At one point of the movie, a young man was wearing an orange t-shirt with a blue collar and baggy jeans. The acting was horrible and hard to believe. The fight/gun scenes were unrealistic with fake blood splatter. At one point fake blood had splattered on the camera and then there was a quick camera change to a different view. Inconsistent time frames, as if they had stopped filming during a scene and then restarted. The Title shouldn't be of "Billy the Kid", as the story hardly had anything to do with Billy the Kid. I suppose if the storyline had been better and the acting it could have been way better movie. Very disappointed in the whole movie, it was a waste of my $3.00 and a wasted hour and a half of my life.

Wooow
It is ridiculously bad with no redeeming qualities. Why did Hulu recommend it to me? What have I done?

This is a waste of viewing time... the only decent actor was the horse! I even watched it all on the off chance that it got better... wrong!

Only watch if you can handle micro-budget independent movies
Wuchakk20 January 2018
RELEASED TO VIDEO IN 2013 and directed by Christopher Forbes, "Billy the Kid" covers events when a bounty hunter (Cody McCarver) rides into the Southwestern town of Dogma intent on taking down a gang of outlaws called "The Four of the Apocalypse." Meanwhile, he meets a woman he knew years before (Kimberly Campbell) and her son, Billy (Christopher Bowman). Jerry Chesser emerges as the formidable main heavy.

This movie only cost $500,000 so you have to be able to stomach micro-budget independent flicks and the limitations thereof in order to appreciate any attributes. I like watching spare-change films now and then and sorta root for them like you would a severely underdog team in sports. While there are some highlights in this film, like the soundtrack/score, some picturesque scenes and a few of the main cast members (noted above), the script needed more work because the story bogs down after the opening act.

For instance, there's a lousy side plot about a goofy red-haired outlaw camping out in the town jailhouse and having a shootout with two old men. Most of the peripheral cast members aren't very good and the action scenes are okay at best, but neither would've been much of a hindrance if the story was strong and compelling. In short, without an engaging story everything else is worthless. Don't get me wrong, the plot had potential, but the script needed a lot more work.

Interestingly, while the events are supposed to take place in New Mexico, the movie was shot mainly in South Carolina with a couple sequences done in Georgia and Kentucky. How could the creators possibly pull this off and make it look like the story takes place in the Southwest? Answer: They utilized several establishing shots from Lincoln County, New Mexico (with some featuring the loner protagonist). But everything else, like the lame "town" set, was shot in the East.

THE FILM RUNS 1 hours & 20 minutes. WRITER: Graye Bumgardner.

GRADE: D

Do I know you?

Warning: Spoilers
While the film has the title "Billy the Kid" it is more about a fictional bounty hunter named Leon Copper(Cody McCarver). In this film Billy (Christopher Bowman) goes from not knowing how to shot a gun to being an expert with two minutes of practice. This is a low budget, poorly acted western. In real life, Billy's mother died from tuberculous.

The house that Billy lives in apparently has a time machine in the back as the front porch has a modern door lock and lights with small light bulbs. Not worth the price of a rental. Leon, is hunting outlaws in the town of Dalton. He kills one and then discovers that his "wife" and son are living there after being gone 20 years. The dialogue was read without feeling.

Parental Guide: No f-bombs, sex, or nudity.

My eyeballs are now bleeding

Warning: Spoilers
Hmmmm where to start. Lets start with the four horsemen of the apocalypse. I have seen more intimidating geezers in nursing homes. These four old timers are gunfighters like carrot top is a ladies man. And 500,000 budget? On what the 200 dollar lumber job of a crappy town or the ridiculous fake guns? The acting was so abysmal I did not know whether to laugh or to cry. I could not imagine a lobotomy being much worse than this experience. Definitely a top 5 in worst movie of all time. Certainly wins number 1 for worst western of all time. So there is this scene where the scary bad guy ( age 80 plus) gimps into the saloon (smaller than my bedroom actually)and aside from a couple of tables and chairs the only thing in the bar is the very cheap little bar itself...and since there is no backdoor it is the lone object that the evil old fart could possibly be hiding behind. But alas our sharp witted hero and his fat helper walk in and look around then both turn their backs to the bar and start looking at the ground. Where could he possibly be? they seem to be thinking. Then...SURPRISE...gramps comes out from behind the bar and starts shooting. And here I thought that the hiphop witch starring vanilla ice was a bad movie .

Worst Movie I've Ever Watched
m_johnston5 February 2021
My dad came to visit and he loves westerns. Found this and he and I decided to watch it. What a waste. Everything about this is bad. The acting, script, the sets, costumes, all bad. At one point there is a shot of a woman on the porch of this house and over her shoulder you can see someone's keys hanging from the brand new brass lock on the door. I just want to know how a movie this bad was able to get distribution? I've seen how school filmmakers do better work.

There are ones and tens in the reviews. Those leaving tens are everyone who was in this movie. Those leaving ones are anyone who watched this movie. But hey, they tried their best.

I don't ask for much
theshing52028 August 2013
So this solves my western crave.

Billy The Kid is not the main character but adds an unique perspective to the Kid's start as an outlaw.

Country singer, Cody McCarver takes a fierce role as Leon Copper. Not the best actor but his music and role makes the film better.

This isn't like any of the Kid's films you've seen before. An Okay story and the acting isn't the best but like I said.. I don't ask for much... so this movie hits the spot when it comes to an independent western.

I would love to see more of New Mexico and possibly more action from Billy if another film is made.

Warning: Spoilers
This is the worst director in movie history. He should be deported! I've seen British Independent films better. Bad bad bad. Seriously? You thought this was good enough to distribute? Wow! Go try to get your old job back at the car wash, dude. What is with the red dots of blood that disappear when people get shot? That is impressively bad! The acting looks like they were all deliberately trying to be terrible. The background music and camera shots made no sense. This movie wasn't even worth the time I spent to write ten lines for this review to be able to post! Please do not let this director ever enter the state of California again! Please!

Watch under the influence of marijuana
coltonhunt-2227424 August 2022
This movie is extremely hysterical while stoned. Although it is very poor budget, the story itself wasn't bad even though it had nothing to do with the historical Billy The Kid.

I got this movie in a redbox a few years back when I was living in my camper at the lake, no wifi. My girlfriend wasn't happy about the movie but I realized I found a gem of comedy. It not supposed to be a comedy either. Cant wait to watch the sequel.

One star because they don't offer 1/2
raycollins-285751 July 2020
This is the WORST movie I have ever seen. It's probably the lowest budget also at one point they showed the merchant owner's rifle and you could clearly see the plugged end of his barrel The gunshot sound like pops out of a cap gun and the gun fights themselves are so horrendously idiotic, I fully agree with the guy that said his eyeballs are now bleeding.

duku6527 May 2020
I gave it 3 stars because it is so bad I had to see it to the end. The budget was 500K. I don't think it was spent on acting.

This is low buget cut on the wild west aventures that lead to the legend Billy the Kid. Acted poor, sequences are poor, script does have potential for a Billy the Kid sequel.

forget what you heard about this film yo
starkquale29 August 2013
man let me tell you this film isn't the greatest thing ever but with saying that check out its not on some young guns blazing guns and pulling grenades this more of a prequel of young guns and what happens to billy before he turns into an ALL BLAZED gangster I live in New Mexico so it's neat to see some areas i've been before but let me get back to the film it's kind of a late bloomer and dead at times like when bad actors get on the screen but to watch a movie and have a good time i gotta say this is one hell of a film and i love Clint Eastwood, John Wayne and all them blazing fools don't like the country music and the rock band kind of gets tiring after the same thing plays and plays but okay check it out

this kid is back!
theshing53729 August 2013
One biggie of the film for people must be Billy The Kid. He's older looking than the usual and he's not the main character. This billy the kid, based on facts and fiction, draws from his years living with his mother, never knowing who his father was.

I enjoyed the film for it's many perks. I do not get to see many westerns on tele or movies being away from the states, so it's nice to see them still being produced, even if it's independently. This Cody Mcarver is new to me and I applaud his tunes for the movie, although I do not like country music it fits into the movie very well. I do see that this movie has a possibility of a second and I would suggest that it involves more of the kid and his days in Lincoln. thank you.

billy the kid raises question about his father
theshing6665 February 2014
who is the father of billy the kid? The question popped into my mind while watching the film. I conveyed my interest into an internet search and turned up nothing. it seems that the writer provided his own story about the father of the kid which is quite unique in it's own regard. story isn't much about the kid but instead focuses on his mother and fathers relationship. I recommend solely on the basis of a story that doesn't beat the horse dead like the other movies about billy. I bought the movie off the net for $10 and wish the special features would had been longer. The next one will probably feature the kid as the main role.

the kid has a glass bullet
thewesternfromtheeast29 August 2013
A glass bullet and how it comes to be the center of the film Billy The Kid and the life he lived before becoming an outlaw A gang called four horsemen of the apocalypse stroll the lands and burns New Mexico territory while trying to loot places A Marshall too chicken and a town that's scared of their own shadow.

A B+ western and I would recommend this to all lovers of independent westerns.

A C+ movie and I wouldn't recommend this as a movie night for a young crowd of folk but people my age 40+ will enjoy the homages to the western genre and a tale of the Kid that's sure to lead to a second movie.

I think it's great
acpicini29 May 2022
I think this show is great! Don't know why some people seem to be hating on it, it may not be the BEST show there ever was, but I think it's great how they developed his story by showing us his childhood & building from there. I love westerns & I love Michael Hirst. I also think the actors who played Billy did a pretty dang good job, I've never seen him in anything else before but I was pleasantly surprised. I would love for them to do a season 2, id definitely watch it & I know a lot of others who would too who have really enjoyed season 1!

I would watch the show over 10 times
dhkoenig12 August 2022
I'm really sorry to hear that so many people didn't like this movie because I loved it. While the dialogue was simple, so are those times and I felt like it reflected it. I thought that Tom Blithe did an amazing job. He's British and he spoke with a great western American accent, he learned how to ride and how to do all those stunts with his guns, and quite frankly I couldn't wait to watch it and I'm so bummed out if they don't come out with a second season. But I guess to each his own.
