Well first of all, according to me the first episode was a bust but this one had a few answers and questions of course (TVD specialty). In this episode we got to know the strength of Silas & his weaknesses & according to me, this episode has set the tone for the rest of the season 5. But I can't help to notice that Ian & Nina are probably the best actors of the show but they aren't doing the job as well as they did in previous seasons, Specially Nina. The scene where Elena tried to kill Damon was not up to mark. I found it to be under rehearsed. But Paul is doing a pretty good job as Silas. Thankfully the long distance situation is over, it wasn't gonna work anyways. Having said that, we're left with many anxious questions at the end of episode like, Where's Stefan? Who are travelers & how is their purpose different from hunters? What was Megan's relation with Elene's dad? Looking forward to next episodes & I'll be back next week with my review. Cheers!!!

Caroline groans when she hears Elena say they have Microbiology. She thought they were supposed to take Intro to Communication and have fun with the guys on campus. Caroline is supposed to be a drama major. Elena wants to meet the professor who forged their roommate's death certificate.
Jeremy and Matt are on the run with Katherine who hates being human. She is sick and disheveled-looking. They stop at a gas station where the owner recognizes her due to Silas's mind control at the town square.
In the lecture the professor spots them and somehow knows they are out of place. He tells them to go down the hall to Intro to Biology. The girls mortifyingly have to leave.
Damon drives to campus after Elena mentions Stefan was there on the phone. Damon doesn't knock the door and enters the dorm where Caroline has a towel on. She is surprised - Damon throws clothes at her and tells her to put something on quick - Silas is out there.
Elena takes him to their dorm and makes him sit. She then makes out with him and rips his top off. He says how much he would like to do it right now he has to talk. She is so angry with Damon that it triggers Silas's mind control.
Silas has found them at their campsite for the evening and Matt yells at Jeremy to run. Silas promptly kills Matt but he has on the ring. Jeremy runs with Katherine. Jeremy attacks Silas as he is a hunter and Katherine shoots him - using a gun for the first time. Matt meets Bonnie on the Other Side. When he goes back to his body he doesn't remember anything from the Other Side.
Elena and Damon have a romantic kiss at the packed car. They will be going back to Mystic Falls to look for Stefan. Pop music plays and the camera work is excellent.
