Hi Mom

A sharp and funny pilot for 'Mom', another sitcom off of the Chuck Lorre production line.

With good performances from Faris and Janney (whose character is like the one she played in 'Mr Sunshine' but x10) this show displayed its potential.

Full of laughs.

For a pilot episode this is pretty good. From the first scene you are laughing as things go horribly wrong.

Although we don't get a great inside into the characters yet it gives us the basic storyline to expect. Kirsty is a single mom and a recovering alcoholic. Her mum Bonnie was also an alcoholic and wasn't around much when she was growing up. They haven't spoken in two years due to their differences and this 'chapter of their lives' is just the beginning. With violet thinking she is pregnant what trouble can these three generations get up too...

Full of good one liners, quick wit and fun... This looks like a show to watch out for.

This is great! Funny, and excellently scripted, with a great performance from Anna Faris.

I can't believe how much I actually enjoyed this show! I found it beautifully scripted, original, solid acting, and funny. The plot for this one basically sets the show up for future episodes and I found that it was done with ease. Anna Faris gives probably one of her best performances as a depressed, single, alcohol recovery person who has 2 children and a mom who she despises. I loved every scene she had it was funny, and award winning to me. This is something I found very original. I never have seen anything like this before. I loved every moment of the show. I will definitely be watching this show again! i'll probably even buy a DVD of this season! hopefully it'll get renewed. Good Job Anna Faris you are not a disgrace to acting!

I would just like to say like when "Christy Said Son Of A Bitch" outside of "Roscoe's" classroom in his school so funny right ?And I was so excited seeing Alison Janney and Anna Farris together so fun and also well what if they were a family together like a both mother and also as well daughter together so good. And now that would be so awesome. And I loved how well it turned out when " Bonnie and Christy" reunited together as one together again and who had never spoken to each other in two years. Which is so damn amazing that their taking once again.

Not blasted off

I really was not impressed by Mom going by the first episode. Alison Janey is always an attraction in any show but has yet to have an opportunity to show her talent.

My main gripe is that there is no real witty humour. It is all very flat jokes. Old situation comedy stuff. The intrusive laugh track just emphasises how unfunny the set pieces are.

There is nothing really wrong with the acting, but the characters are just very two dimensional. Much was made, by Amazon, of the involvement of Chuck Lorre. But I cannot see any of the character interaction that kept us watching Big Bang.

I know it is unfair to expect a repeat of that show whilst still being different. But I could point to Sprung which is driven by the same writer and director from My Name is Earl. That is different but has the same atmosphere.

This show needs to sharpen up fast.
