- TriviaOriginally, the scene at the recycling depot with John Kennex and Dorian retrieving the missing video footage from the damaged MX was much longer. The surroundings were set up as Syd the depot manager (played by C. Ernst Harth) explained the function of the depot and led them to the conveyor belt of scrapped MXs. There are still brief shots of Syd left in the scene as it now appears.

"Thats too Bad" for the "Bombers"
JH Wyman has kicked it in the - What would Androids call that area of Anatomy?
After FRINGE I never thought I would ever watch another TV show. I have been watching old X-Files episodes to nurse my wounds left by Fringe being canceled. But Wyman has done it - And this Pilot is an incredible start.
This Pilot sets up the MYTHOS for the series: There is a group called InSyndicate, and they have an agenda. We do not know what it is, but we can guess their goals in this episode.
Karl Urban is Detective Kennex, who led a raid on InSyndicate but they knew all about it. HOW they knew, is revealed eventually, but Kennex cannot do anything about it - He has been in some kind of regeneration tank for almost 2 years. While he is in the tank, he sees visions of his girlfriend over and over.
Unfortunately, when he wakes up and goes back to work, not only does he have robotic legs to replace the legs that got blown off during the raid, but he also has to have a robotic partner to replace his Human partner his friend, who was killed in the Raid.
"It's the Law"
So Kennex is assigned an "MX" (They mostly all look like Darren E. Scott and Anthony Konechny) and is sent out to find out about a Crime, InSyndicate has rolled an Armored Car and made it look like a local Korean gang. They have stolen some kind of programmable DNA. And some other Red Muck - "Myklon Red" - There is always some Red Muck in JJ Abrams stories.
The MX - The Robot assigned to Kennex is a little too nosy, so Kennex shoves him out of the car and destroys him. So his Boss, Lili Taylor (Who was the great Blind Girl in The X-Files "Minds Eye" gives him a new Robot partner - Dorian (Michael Ealy).
Dorian is "One of the Crazy Ones" - Because he has something like True Human Feelings. But this is less of a hindrance and more of an asset. Between the two of them, they get to the bottom of it, and with the help of their Nerd "Rudy" (Mackenzie Crook - They guy with the Eyeball from Pirates of the Caribbean)- They put the whammy on another "Crook" played by Tim Kelleher, who was trying to get into the Evidence Locker at the Station, for case 6663- To retrieve something that is in there.
All we really know about this is that it is a "Living" robotic head- Shown to us, but not to Karl Urban. In the same way as in Fringe, when The Shapeshifters were looking for the head of "Thomas Jerome Newton" - we KNEW that something really horrific was going to happen if and when that head was re-attached.
So I surmise something equally horrific will happen if the robotic head in the evidence room should ever get re-attached to the Robot Body we saw in this Pilot.
Look for references to Gary Numan all through this series- Backed up by incredible music from "The Crystal Method".
