Screenplay writer and lead actor of this film, Nickola Shreli, said that aside from being inspired to write the screenplay based on some of his real life experiences as a landlord in the Hamtramck/Detroit area, he was also inspired after watching Roman Polanski's The Tenant (1976).
Nickola Shreli, who plays the lead, Elvis Martini, and who wrote the screenplay, said during an interview at the 2015 Fantasia film festival that he was inspired to write the script while he was a residential landlord in the area of Hamtramck, Michigan, and as he had dealt with tenants from all walks of life, just as they're portrayed in the film. He said he felt compelled to have the film filmed on location in Detroit because it's where he grew up and it's where some of the events that inspired the screenplay took place.
The song used for the trailer is called "Lambroast Ritual" and it's by James Curd.
The third act was filmed in an abandoned warehouse without heat in the dead of winter. Stivi Paskoski and Nickola Shreli endure filming over 9 hours in 45 degree weather. Nickola Shreli who wrote the screenplay loosely based it on his life as a landlord in Hamtramck, MI.
