What a lovely little movie this was. Almost all cat and animal lovers know about bub. Some may think she's just another famous 'internet cat ' who makes ' tonnes of cash for her owner. Yes, the majority of famous animal owners out there do see it as a business while others amateurs go to ridiculous lengths to make their pet videos and memes go viral and achieve internet fame.
That's the beauty of LilBUB and her owner Mike. From watching just a few mins of this documentary, or any of the interactions, interviews etc with Mike, it's obvious that he truly loves this little sweetheart with all his heart, is very protective of her and isn't at all into this for the money and fame. It's just his little pet which he loves very much, who happened to become a phenomenon.
Coming to the documentary. It was entertaining and educative. It talks about cats, why they're so wonderful interviews a few crazy cat people and shows us bub and Mike just living their lives together visiting places in Indianapolis , visiting the vet and hanging out in his studio and at home. We also get to see a cat video screening attended by bub and get to see exactly what a little phenomenon bub is by all the attention she gets.
Some critics criticised the fact that the movie doesn't give any insight into how bub became so famous. That's not the point of this documentary or for that matter of LilBUB. People who don't get that will never understand this documentary. It's about cats, and particularly one very adorable little cat and the genuine love and affection her owner has for her. Mike didn't sign on with a 'meme manager ' who manages grumpy cat, etc and who approached Mike. He manages and controls bub and everything to do with her so that she isn't exploited for her fame.
Non animal or non cat lovers are just going to find this documentary ridiculous and weird and I would suggest they don't watch it. But cat lovers are sure to love it and fall in love with Lil BUB. Spoiler alert, the end may have you in tears but it's beautiful. Please watch this and realise that loving animals doesn't mean a lack of love for our fellow human beings at all. All creatures are worthy of love and Lil BUB really proves that.
