A family of Basques owns property. They farm it and raise sheep. There is valuable lumber on the property and a big company wants their hands on it. The youngest one in the family, who owns a third of it, is found dead. There are no marks on him which leads to either natural causes or poisoning. A second issue is brewing. The police detective in Denver is continuing to investigate Walt in a possible revenge murder over the death of his wife. Cady has gone to see him but has proffered no information. There are tentacles reaching out, however.
