Welcome to this review of this week’s Monday Night Raw, right here on Nerdly. So get into it and let’s see what went down this week…
Match #1: Finn Bálor def. Matt Riddle The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
After Seth “Freakin” Rollins declared himself the face of Monday Night Raw, The Judgment Day offered to take on Matt Riddle and provide a new path forward. The Original Bro declined the ominous proposition and kickstarted a match with Finn Bálor. Damian Priest attempted to tip the scales in the match, but some ingenious offense and an assist from Rey Mysterio evened the odds. A final intervention from The Visionary allowed Bálor to line up a Coup de Grace and take home the statement victory for The Judgment Day. After the match, Rollins delivered one final Stomp, hoping to end his rivalry with Riddle for good.

WWE’s annual Extreme Rules PPV always finds itself full of gimmick matches such as table matches, ladder matches, street fights and things of that nature, so it’s no surprise that the 2016 version of Extreme Rules is also full of these types of matches. Sometimes it can result in overkill, other times it can result in an entertaining event. Let’s hope this event ticks the entertaining option.

Howdy wrestling fans, and a big thanks to Aaron Oster and James Montgomery for tending to the homestead while I was off for last week's Raw and Payback spectacles. And I have no idea why I'm aping cowboy parlance, or if that's even appropriate while recapping a show that went down in Omaha. But in the interest of corralling my thoughts, let's look toward Extreme Rules.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Stephanie McMahon announced that Kevin Owens would defend the Intercontinental Championship against Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Stardust, Sin Cara, and Zack Ryder in a ladder match. This would mark the 11th time in WrestleMania history that a ladder match will take place. The previous ten ladder matches, ranging all the way back to WrestleMania X, have provided some of the most memorable moments in the history of the ‘Granddaddy of Them All’.
Whether they be for the Intercontinental Championship, the Tag Team Championship, or the Money in the Bank briefcase, the ladder match has always stole the show at WrestleMania. The high spots have always sent the crowd into a frenzy, and set the tone for the rest of the night. In addition, these matches have made the careers of future hall of famers like Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon, Edge, and others.

WrestleMania can be good, it can be bad, it can be anything it wants to be so long as its not boring. The last thing a fan wants is to wait weeks and months for WWE’s biggest extravaganza, only to be sorely disappointed by how utterly predictable the results end up being.
There have been some truly predictable WrestleManias, such as WrestleMania 29, in which Mark Henry was put over Ryback in the second match just to try and stun oddsmakers, as every other match had a non-negotiable conclusion. Other times, WrestleMania has thrown a wrench into the works of notable matches with the intent of surprising even its most jaded viewers. Oftentimes, this strategy works to a fault.
With these sorts of risky decisions, you run the risk of upsetting the audience. In some cases, the shocking finishes were virulently protested by fans that tuned in the following night anyway.

It’s been over two years since Phil ‘Cm Punk’ Brooks was part of World Wrestling Entertainment on screen. Even though he elected to leave in late-January, 2014, it wasn’t until June that Punk was officially served with his termination papers from the company. Rather coincidentally (or not), that document happened to plonk down on the man’s door mat on the day of his wedding to another ex-WWE talent, Aj Lee.
Naturally, the longest-running WWE Heavyweight Champion of his generation didn’t take too kindly to this fact. Punk has bashed WWE ever since, and had many gripes about his time with the company. Despite this, he had an aforementioned 434 day run as the promotion’s top champ, won ‘Money In The Bank’ twice, and wrestled everyone from Triple H and The Undertaker to John Cena and Daniel Bryan.

This week’s questions have seen the fantasy bookers out in force, with several great theories being floated – including several heel turns, a potential Mr. Money In The Bank, and the notion of a blockbuster feud between two of the most iconic stables of the modern era.
Elsewhere, we’re also considering the slowly-forming WrestleMania card, the idea of an eventual brand split, and – perhaps the most important question all – whether Big E’s recent spanking of Dean Ambrose was too damn risque for the PG era.
Once again, thank you to everyone who submitted questions (including those who unfortunately missed out this week). Look out for an announcement regarding next week’s article by following @WhatCultureWWE on Twitter.

To celebrate the release of 2015’s WWE Money In The Bank event on DVD and Blu-ray, we’ve teamed up with WWE to offer you the chance to win one of three Blu-ray copies.
“One of WWE’s most anticipated and hard-hitting pay-per-views of 2015. The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar settle the score once and for all when they step inside the 20ft Hell in a Cell cage – the most unforgiving and demonic structure in WWE history. Plus Seth Rollins defends his WWE Championship against Kane and John Cena puts his U.S. title on the line against a mystery opponent!”

Feuds are the lifeblood of professional wrestling. After all, a good feud is what makes the fans want to tune in or pay money to watch the matches. Some of the greatest feuds in all of professional wrestling took place in WWE: Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin vs. The Rock, and even a rivalry as recent as John Cena vs. Cm Punk.
2015 wasn’t a particularly good year for feuds. A big reason for this has to deal with the main focus on part-time wrestlers like Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker, as well as the reluctance of WWE to create any new megastars other than John Cena. Because of this, aside from Cena vs. Kevin Owens, there wasn’t any transcendent feuds that you’ll remember years from now. Even though the match quality was pretty solid all year long, the storylines lacked anything that would make them all-time great.

50/50 booking. It’s the term for WWE’s booking style in which talents win as often as they lose; winning 50% of the time, losing 50% of the time. The strategy is among the most foolish ways to present talents as it prevents them from getting over, and more often than not, does credible, long-term damage to the talents that are booked in this manner.
In show-business, being special is what draws money, not being average. Mike Tyson, Ronda Rousey, and Muhammad Ali are just a few examples of some of the biggest individual attractions in the history of combat sports. They were special. Professional sports clubs like the New York Yankees, Manchester United, and the New England Patriots are among the most popular teams on the planet because they win more than they lose.

With WrestleMania 32 a little over 4 months away, there still doesn’t seem to be any concrete creative plans or matches set? Around this time, heading into the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, we usually have an idea of the general direction that Vince McMahon and the WWE are heading in. However, with the injury to the former WWE Champion Seth Rollins, WWE have seemed to scrap all creative plans that were set for their biggest event of the year, and seem to be starting from scratch.
Lately, it seems that WrestleMania has followed a certain formula. Each year we get the return of the part time, big name WWE star, Triple H always pencils himself in for a big marquee match, and we always anticipate the reemergence of The Undertaker. The event itself is always highlighted by one truly epic moment, whether it’s Daniel Bryan winning the WWE Championship,...

In a surprise move, Roman Reigns became the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion when he defeated Sheamus on last night’s Raw from Philadelphia.
On a night that also saw Vince McMahon make a shock return, the WWE owner, who was playing heel in the absence of the ‘injured’ Triple H, placed Reigns into the main event with the stipulation that if he didn’t win the WWE title, he would be fired.
The Raw finale saw Vince so desperate for Reigns not to win the title and be fired that he interfered but it didn’t make any difference – Reigns hitting him with the Superman punch and then defeating Sheamus with the spear to become WWE champion.
The shock title change can only be explained as WWE panicking with months of historic low ratings. In terms of timing and how it played out, it made no sense...

This time of year is traditionally tough for WWE. Things have been no different in 2015, because wrestling fans at large didn’t react with any sense of overwhelming positivity towards Survivor Series. An injury to Seth Rollins meant the company had to reshuffle the card quickly, eventually culminating in a tournament final between Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose.
Moments after Reigns emerged victorious, winning the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Title, Sheamus made his presence felt. Cashing in his ‘Money In The Bank’ privileges, the big Irishman left the pay-per-view as WWE Champion. On television, Sheamus has been painted as the new crown jewel of The Authority. In addition, he’s also formed his own group, the League Of Nations.

When Roman Reigns was crowned WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Survivor Series and it was only 10:35pm Eastern Time, we all knew shenanigans were imminent in some shape or form.
After Triple H came out to shake Roman’s hand and ate a spear for his troubles, there was a familiar Irishman waiting behind Reigns to hit a Brogue Kick, cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase and become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Initially, Reigns managed to kick out but after a second Brogue Kick, The Celtic Warrior had lifted the WWE World Heavyweight title for a fourth time.
Since the cash in, there has been an extremely negative reaction to Sheamus as not only the new top heel in the company but also the man who is now the odds on favourite to carry the WWE title into 2016.

Sheamus is the new WWE Champion, following a Money In The Bank cash-in on Roman Reigns at Survivor Series. It was a major booking move from Vince McMahon, especially as Reigns had himself only just won the vacant title over Dean Ambrose.
The dramatic ending moves the company forward, with the set-up now being babyface Roman Reigns chasing the heel Champion. It is a classic piece of booking, creating sympathy for Reigns and making people want to see Sheamus knocked out of the top spot. It was also an inevitable piece of booking, as Mr Money In The Bank, it was only ever a matter of time until Sheamus took the title spot. He’s now a four time World Champion and looks set for a major 2016 as the top company heel.

As we head into this years Survivor Series there’s not only the loss of the current WWE champion to deal with but also an apparent terrorist threat to deal with too. No wonder the WWE let Lillian Garcia blast out “The Star Spangled Banner” as loud and as bold as as she possibly could! That aside, It will be interesting to see where the 2015 Survivor Series is headed given the almost ramshackle last-minute nature in which the matches seem to have been put together… Of course what was planned on was the celebration of 25 years of the Phenom himself, The Undertaker. After all, 1990′s Survivor Series (yes, the event has been going that long) was the official debut of Mark Calaway’s now-iconic character in the WWE.
As always Spoilers if you haven’t seen the PPV yet…

With Roman Reigns’ tears still moist on the canvas of the Phillips Arena, it hasn’t quite sunk in that Sheamus is WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The (already unsteady) main event landscape of the company suddenly looks even more fragile, with a man at the helm who hasn’t had a real feud since May.
Despite being Money In The Bank holder, the fact WWE actually pulled the trigger on the Celtic Warrior is a huge shock. An hour or two before cashing in, he was dancing goofily alongside the New Day, before losing to the midcard team of Ryback, Kalisto and Jey Uso. Where on earth does he go from here?
As uncertain as things look – and it must be said that they look incredibly uncertain – WWE have at least given themselves a clean slate to work with here. Sheamus is such a left field champion, he...

It was another interesting week for WWE, as the company prepares for Survivor Series on Sunday night. In the final Raw before the event, WWE chose to headline the show with a controversial divas segment that has divided opinion and created debate.
There’s also the WWE Title situation, which is the most intriguing aspect of Survivor Series. The final four men in the WWE Title tournament are Roman Reigns, Alberto Del Rio, Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens. By the end of Sunday night, one of those four men (or Money in the Bank holder Sheamus) is going to leave the show as the WWE Champion as fans try to figure out what direction WWE are heading in as the Royal Rumble approaches and WrestleMania looms on the horizon.

At WWE’s 2015 version of Survivor Series, there haven’t been all that many matches announced outside of the WWE Title hunt. Thus far, including the final of the WWE World Heavyweight Title tournament, there are 7 matches proposed. That also includes a traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series elimination match, one that will likely involve the likes of The New Day and The Usos.
Also on the show, The Undertaker and Kane will apparently team together to face a few members from The Wyatt Family. In the build-up to the match, it had been said that Bray Wyatt would pick which of his ‘sheep’ would be most fitting for the clash. On Smackdown, he revealed that both he and Braun Strowman would face The Brothers of Destruction.
Elsewhere, Paige challenges Charlotte for the WWE Divas Title and Tyler Breeze gets his first taste of main roster Pay-Per-View when he collides with Dolph Ziggler.

With everyone’s attention currently occupied by Seth Rollins’ injury and the subsequent WWE Title tournament, there remains one little question lurking at the back of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship scene: just what the hell are they going to do with Sheamus?
The Irishman won the Money In The Bank briefcase back in June, a booking decision likely forced by the Roman Reigns fan backlash. Now WWE have painted themselves into a corner, one where the best possible solution is to get the briefcase out of Sheamus’ possession, and into the hands of a contender with far more upside and momentum.
Short of teasing a few cash-ins, the Celtic Warrior hasn’t really done anything since earning his guaranteed title shot. If he wasn’t ready for the WWE Title back in the summer, he’s even less ready for it now. His last appearance on a...

At Survivor Series 2015, the WWE Championship will be decided via a tournament to replace the now-injured Seth Rollins as champ. While pre-show scuttlebutt has the obvious solution to this issue via WWE creative being a Roman Reigns victory, one shouldn’t be so hasty. Given that Seth Rollins isn’t back until June, and a Reigns/Lesnar rematch at WrestleMania doesn’t require a significant build, it isn’t imperative that he wins.
WWE actually has a plethora of possible championship options at their disposal. Between an active Money In The Bank briefcase holder, stars available to return, legends under deals or just having Brock Lesnar destroy the entire roster, Roman Reigns is not necessarily the only option. As well, there’s heel turns, underdog surprises and literally a ton of other finishes that could be considered.

If there’s one thing Vince McMahon has proved over the years, it’s that, short of a Chris Benoit-sized horror story or, as it seems, a spot of awful racism, no one is truly ever Gone For Good when it comes to WWE.
History has shown that pretty much anyone that’s rubbed the Boss up the wrong way can make amends and be back on Raw one day, whether it’s Steve Austin bringing his ball back in 2003, the Ultimate Warrior building bridges to finally make it into the WWE Hall Of Fame last year shortly before his untimely passing, or Bret Hart putting the most infamous wrestling bust-up in history to rest when he returned to WWE’s flagship programme after over 12 years away in 2010.
Be it through simply falling down the pecking order and out of favour or sticking a middle finger up...

Seth Rollins has set a new record with his continued WWE Championship reign. He’s currently on 182 days as Champion, and looks to be holding the belt for the foreseeable future. What went unnoticed recently, was that the reign is now a record for a Money In The Bank cash in. He has held the title for longer than any other cash-in winner.
The Miz was the previous record holder, having held the belt for 160 days when he cashed in on Randy Orton in November 2010. That reign was eventually ended by John Cena in May 2011, but only after Miz had successfully defended the belt over Cena at WrestleMania 27.
Kane has the bronze medal for the record, having held the World Title after cashing in Mitb on Rey Mysterio in July 2010. He held the belt until December of that year, when he eventually lost to Edge.

Let's get this right out of the way: No, Sting did not win the WWE World Heavyweight title at Night of Champions, which was probably the right call, considering the practicalities (and the optics) of a 56-year-old man holding the top belt in the business. But he certainly deserved to, after turning back the clock and putting his body on the line in a thriller against Seth Rollins. The result wasn't a surprise – especially given the comments Sting made last week to Rolling Stone – but the quality of the match was.

This past week on Monday Night Raw, WWE’s creative team made their ‘Mr. Money In The Bank’ briefcase holder look weak once more. It’s a confusing strategy, and it can only be theorised that the company don’t feel wins and losses really matter in the grand scheme of things. Some fans have covered this by saying it shows everybody can beat everybody else, but that excuse doesn’t really wash.
The promotion are handling some top names very oddly at the moment, booking them as cowards or losers. In the long run, this will surely do nothing for characters like Sheamus or Seth Rollins. Thankfully, in the case of the latter, Raw was a return to some resemblance of being a deserved double champion. This past week, Rollins was booked less like a scared little boy, although he did once again run away from Sting...

It’s entirely possible that by the time that you’re reading this, Sheamus could’ve cashed in the Money In The Bank Briefcase and become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Maybe not since Damien Sandow won the Smackdown Money In The Bank briefcase in 2013 has there been more of a dark horse briefcase winner. Given that WWE seems to have so many more “worthwhile” holders on the roster, the Celtic Warrior’s 2015 time spent with the briefcase has underwhelmed.
If Sheamus cashes in the briefcase soon, that means that we have at least nine more months to wait before another briefcase holder is crowned. When staring into the future of WWE, there are actually exactly seven great candidates to grab the briefcase next June. From well-established performers to those actually in the midst of breaking out to even a surprise name thrown into the mix, it’s...

Here's the good news heading into Sunday's Night of Champions: All the belts are officially on the line, now that Ryback vs. Kevin Owens for the Ic strap was made official, New Day vs. The Dudley Boyz was cemented with the former's win over Ptp and Nikki Bella's been saddled with a rematch against Charlotte for the Divas crown.
Less encouraging is that the go-home show did little to intensify most of the current beefs, nor drum up much more intrigue for matches without any hardware at stake.

This week’s SmackDown was another average show that continued the build up to WWE Night of Champions next Sunday. As usual, several of the biggest names in the company were missing, but at least the WWE Champion Seth Rollins was there.
WWE once again teased the idea that Sheamus is going to cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase at Night of Champions. The show progressed the current storylines in some ways, but then they took some step backs by booking some odd finishes or completely ignoring the idea of booking a finish.
Here are the match results from this week’s show:
Cesaro defeated The Miz by submission using the Sharpshooter.
Paige and Sasha Banks had a match that ended in a No Contest when they wouldn’t stop brawling.
Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose & Jimmy Uso wrestled The New Day in a match with no...

This week’s edition of Smackdown was taped in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Here are the results of what happened.
Interesting to note that on the Main Event taping prior to Smackdown, Kevin Owens faced Dolph Ziggler in what sounds like a great match.
They announced the following matches: Ryback vs. Seth Rollins in a Lumberjack Match and Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns & Jimmy Uso vs. The New Day.
The Wyatt Family started Smackdown with a promo in the rin. They did promos about Reigns and Ambrose while Bray Wyatt showed a clip of their attack on Randy Orton on Raw. The segment ended with Braun Strowman saying “run.”
Cesaro beat The Miz by submission with the Sharpshooter in a continuation from their story from Raw.
Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Jimmy Uso were interviewed by Renee Young leading up to their match later.
Paige was in a match with Sasha Banks.

To celebrate the release of this year’s WWE Battleground event on DVD and Blu-ray, we’ve teamed up with WWE to offer you the chance to win one of five DVD copies.
The event was – at the time – arguably the biggest behind WrestleMania so far in 2015 as The Undertaker returned to scupper Brock Lesnar’s shot at Seth Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The Beast had The Architect beat after an F-5, before The Phenom got involved one of the most shocking returns in recent WWE history. It’s a moment that has shaped WWE’s future right up until next year’s Mania. That’s how big it was.
As well as that monumental main event clash, there are a plethora of fantastic bouts to see that include the meetings between Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton and Money in the Bank winner Sheamus, plus...

Money in the Bank has a history of being fun, especially the match itself which often tends to be chaotic. With WWE going through somewhat of a change for WWE: Money in the Bank 2015, it felt more refreshing and interesting. Especially with John Cena vs. Kevin Owens being one of the big fights of the night…
The Money in the Bank match itself featured Sheamus, Nevil, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Kofi Kingston, Kane and Dolph Ziggler. While it may not have been one of the most spectacular Money in the Bank fights, it was pretty solid and a good early match to build up the crowd. I’m not sure the ending was what we wanted, but it did a good job of starting a few new story lines.

This was the sixth annual event of what is one of, if not the most extreme night of the WWE calendar. The show was an emotional one as it took place only a short few days after the passing of WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes, meaning there are plenty of tributes to the American Dream throughout!
Matches including the likes of Cena vs Owens, Ambrose vs Rollins, Nikki Bella vs Paige, and the customary Mitb contract ladder match took centre stage and made for a very entertaining night.

It should come as no surprise that the internet is already awash with various memes, gags, and humorous tweets regarding SummerSlam. The event was a goldmine for comedy (intentional or otherwise), and also sparked major discussion regarding the finishes of its two biggest matches.
The involvement of Jon Stewart was always going to pique mainstream attention slightly more than the average WWE pay per view, as was the huge marquee main event of the Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar. The show itself divided opinion – several wrestlers turned in great in-ring performances, but the booking frustrated many – creating the perfect storm for all manner of online shenanigans.
Here are the ten best things the internet has already done with SummerSlam 2015.

WWE are going to feature a huge surprise on tonight’s Raw, and it could be WrestleMania 32 related.
“Something big is happening, probably WrestleMania related,” Dave Meltzer commented on wrestling observer radio, as he and Bryan Alvarez previewed tonight’s Raw.
Alvarez then offered an alternative theory, suggesting that Ufc Interim Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor could be appearing in a segment with Sheamus. However, Alvarez then quickly shot down his own theory. The two Irishman had a war of words on Twitter earlier in 2015, but McGregor is very unlikely to appear on WWE television. He’s arguably Ufc’s biggest star behind Ronda Rousey, and it wouldn’t make sense for him to risk his star power.
So a Mania 32 announcement is the likely surprise. Logically, it would be the announcement of Brock Lesnar versus The Undertaker as WrestleMania’s main event. The two men had a disputed finish at SummerSlam,...

Dean Ambrose has developed very well since turning face last year, propelling himself up the card (and even into occasional title contention) thanks to a series of crowd-winning performances and promos. He has used the opportunity to demonstrate his versatility as a performer, portraying a convincing badass anti-hero, willing to put his body on the line against friend or foe.
With that in mind, the WWE absolutely must turn him heel in the very near future.
As impressive as Ambrose has been as a babyface, a heel turn would make sense from a number of points of view…

SummerSlam is less than a week away, and is all set to be the biggest show since WrestleMania, a very conscious decision by the WWE. The extension of the show to four hours, the inclusion of a celebrity ‘host’ in the form on Jon Stewart, and the booking of a huge marquee main event are all deliberate steps taken to ensure that SummerSlam has a decidedly grander feel than usual – but scale is no guarantee of success.
The PPV could be anything from a wild success to a huge disaster, depending on both the quality of its matches and the reception of its booking decisions. A number of key questions need to be answered: who should win between Lesnar and Undertaker, should Cena be allowed to end Seth Rollins’ title reign, and – of course – what on Earth is Sheamus doing still in control of the Money In The Bank briefcase?...

John Cena is – without a doubt – the top star in World Wrestling Entertainment. Even though the man has spent the bulk of 2015 outside the main event scene, he’s still a focal point for the juggernaut promotion. The writing staff could place Cena in the opening match from now until the end of the time, and he’d still be viewed as a headline star.
Ever since 2005, Cena has been a top name in WWE. Listen to anyone from Vince McMahon and Triple H, to Steve Austin, and it becomes clear that he’s respected. Working a schedule that rivals McMahon himself, Cena lives, breathes and sleeps the WWE brand.
A 12-time WWE Heavyweight Champion, the man also held the old World Heavyweight Championship on 3 different occasions. A 2008 Royal Rumble winner, and 2012 Money In The Bank Ladder Match successor, there isn’t much John Cena hasn’t accomplished in the company.

Sunday night at Battleground, the Undertaker cut down Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins vanished into thin air and John Cena put Kevin Owens in his rearview mirror. None of those developments provided solutions to WWE's long-term problems, but with SummerSlam just five weeks away, that wasn't the point. All that mattered was setting up a Beast vs. Dead Man main event.
So Monday's Raw was tasked with developing the rest of the card – which it did. You might not like everything we're going to see next month at Brooklyn's Barclays Center,...

Although often regarded as a “nothing” Pay Per View, with no particular stipulation or sense of occasion to set it apart, Battleground did prove important in a transitional sense. Fans saw Seth Rollins escape by the skin of his teeth yet again, benefitting from the Undertaker’s dramatic return and revenge attack on Brock Lesnar.
Meanwhile, the highly intense feud between John Cena and Kevin Owens took an opinion-dividing turn, with the Us Champion forcing the indie darling to tap out to the Stf. Although it came at the end of an undoubtable Match of the Year contender, Cena’s rubber-match triumph threatens to kill Owens’ push dead in the water. However, it’s very unlikely that the former Roh Champion will go quietly into the night, and his wrath will surely be emphatic.

Sheamus went on to boast that no one would stop him cashing in and becoming WWE Champion – cue Dean Ambrose, who claimed he had already stopped the Celtic Warrior by beating him on Monday Night Raw. Heading into last Sunday’s Money in the Bank show, Sheamus was just some midcarder that really had no direction and it was tough to see what WWE was going to do with them. Then they had him win the Money in the Bank briefcase, which was a surprise to a lot of people, and now it’s time to think of him as a main event level performer again. Money In The Bank has been and gone, and whilst it’s immensely difficult to please every single member of the wrestling fan kingdom, it seems – by scouring online reports – that a lot of people enjoyed the show. There has been backlash against the finish, which was booked to protect Dean Ambrose and continue the story that Seth Rollins struggles to beat him in a one-on-one situation fairly, but it was a solid show.
The big problem for WWE nowadays is that a lot of Pay-Per-View style events feel instantly forgettable, once the show is over with, there’s often not much to really let sink in, because the promotion’s pacing is so quick. As soon as one event is finished, people immediately start looking forward to what may happen at the next, which doesn’t really help when trying to book landmark moments in feuds or postage-stamp big wins,...

Kevin Owens is turning into the big story of WWE’s summer, following on from two match of the year contenders with John Cena.
What’s really impressive is the first match was taking place on just a two week build. That’s how little time Owens and Cena needed to spin an engaging narrative that is now arguably the feud of the year. Just another two weeks after that first match, they had the second match, whipping the crowd up to a level of noise that was thunderous for a full nineteen minutes at Money In The Bank.
Moving forward, Owens is clearly positioned as the number two heel in the company, just behind Seth Rollins. That could all change very quickly, with Rollins potentially going face before WrestleMania 32, and Sheamus moving into the top heel spot. But Owens’ status will remain consistent in that number two heel spot,...

This week’s Raw posted some huge numbers for WWE with a reported 4.114 million viewers in the Us, which is up from 3.645 million viewers last week, according to ShowBuzzDaily.com.
Raw was the number one show on cable for the night.
Since Money in the Bank was an event with some interesting twists and match results that got people talking, more WWE fans were interested to see what was going to happen with the leaked return of Brock Lesnar. The show drew impressive numbers of 4.095 million viewers in hour one, 4.249 million viewers for hour two and the third hour drew 3.997 million viewers. Those numbers are even better considering that John Cena wasn’t on the show.

In a result that surprised many, it was Sheamus who won the coveted Money In The Bank briefcase at Sunday’s Pay Per View. While many had Roman Reigns pencilled in to receive the guarantee of a title shot, the WWE threw a curveball (the latest of many in recent months) and awarded it to the Dublin native.
As experienced and capable a worker as Sheamus is, the decision is likely to be received poorly by fans across the board. His previous main event programmes have been largely considered underwhelming, whether as a babyface or heel, even during the brand split era – a time in which lesser workers were afforded more chances to shine. Now, in a WWE Championship scene populated by such enthusiastically-received stars as Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and the eternally dangerous Brock Lesnar, Sheamus looks an even less convincing candidate to hold the promotion’s major title.

Seth Rollins retained the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Sunday’s Money In The Bank show by just a hair. In the main event of the evening, Rollins and Dean Ambrose both fell from the ladder to the met holding the championship belt, but Rollins was able to tug the belt away from Ambrose when they hit the mat to retain his championship.
The PPV show closed with Rollins and Triple H on the entrance ramp looking back at Ambrose in the ring. WWE announcer Jo-Jo came out to interview the champion, and Rollins went on a rant about how he is the greatest WWE World Heavyweight Champion in history. Ambrose looked at him from the ring with a look of disbelief as the show faded out right at 11:00 p.m. Est.
For those who attended the show live in Columbus, Ohio, the show didn’t end there.

Bray Wyatt versus Roman Reigns is expected to be a main event at Battleground and SummerSlam. The angle was shot at Money In The Bank, with Wyatt’s music hitting as Reigns was about to become Mr Money In The Bank.
Wyatt appeared under the ladder, toppling Reigns out of the match. He then hit a Sister Abigail to really put an exclamation point on the shock turn of events.
The idea is that Wyatt is a good worker who can have a series of exciting matches with Reigns. He’ll make the Big Dog look good and ultimately put him over.
However, Money In The Bank was indicative of the way that things could go. Reigns was booed out of the building and Wyatt was cheered for his violent actions. It’ll probably be like that when they meet at SummerSlam, which is counter-productive to WWE’s idea...

Sheamus was the victor in WWE’s 2015 Money In The Bank ladder match. He overcame a final ladder top brawl with Neville, knocking the Englishman down and then taking the Mitb briefcase.
The decision for WWE to feature another major heel as Mr Money In The Bank is a sensible creative choice. The role is better suited to a bad guy, with the idea that a constant threat is always on the prowl. That could be an indication that we’ll be getting a new babyface Champion soon, possibly as soon as the WWE Title match that Dean Ambrose will contest with Seth Rollins at the end of the Mitb show.
Sheamus is one of WWE’s best paid wrestlers and a personal favourite of Triple H. WWE likes to keep him as a constant feature in the upper mid card to main event scene, and the Mitb briefcase...
