The film follows the day-to-day activities of a family of Andean farmers working in a country with primitive conditions and challenging terrain. Food must be prepared, animals must be cared for and sometimes slaughtered, crops planted and harvested, and schoolchildren are right on the frontline with their parents, watching, learning, doing. The film focuses on the youngest daughter of the Quiroz family, a 9-year-old girl called MARIA, and her 4-year-old brother called JOSE. They are smart and inquisitive, at their most unself-conscious and open. In a parallel narrative, we meet the so-called "Ferieros" or road masters, who venture on a journey across the country, crossing borders, towns, and cities, loading, and unloading goods. Nelson Mora and Company invites us on a journey where they bet everything, including their safety, just to sell their products in the capital; Caracas, and return home for a day or two before starting all over again. Their nomadic lifestyle presents a journey charged with unique social insights about life behind the wheels.
