Totally contrived by lazy TV producers
mickkjhc8 May 2013
I wanted to like this show, but found it totally contrived. The intro is done by a narrator with what apparently is supposed to be a reassuring good ol' boy accent, introducing the cast of characters and explaining the special aspects of each of their personalities. Reminds me a lot of Waylon Jennings narrating Dukes of Hazard, except Waylon knew that his show was tongue in cheek, and this narrator was apparently told to take his duties seriously. The show itself consists mainly of the scruffy looking cast of Southern stereotypes bumbling around supposedly haunted locations, uttering the most banal and obvious observations on what they think they are experiencing. Makes me want to bang my head on a hard surface. It's so damned dull, there's no spark, there's no real reason to continue watching. And incidentally, there are plenty of smart people from the South. Why they would cast such a low voltage group of "personalities" who have so little to offer the audience is beyond me. Avoid this show. And I'd also avoid the super fake "Haunted Collector" show that precedes it. Though they can be hit or miss, I think Ghost Hunters and Destination Truth are far better shows.

Terrible

Everything about this show is fake. It's like the producers just wanted to touch on every southern cliché' in the book. What a lazy attempt at television. This show is clearly scripted, feeding alligators? Because every good self respecting southerner keeps alligators in a chicken wire enclosure away from the water in the southern heat. For paranormal investigators they really don't seem to have a clue what they are doing. ZZ top look a likes, a couple of bumpkins no one can understand, a high pitched tech expert that never really does anything, all led by a thug wannabe and his sister? No thanks. The best part of this show was the commercials.

I Enjoy the show
I know some people do not like the show because they think they are not a good image of the south but as we all know we have all kinds in the south some are prim and proper some are not. But just because folks don't look or talk the way you think they should does not mean they don't have anything to offer. I for one enjoy the show it is entertaining and they are being themselves regardless of if they are over reacting or not most of us do when startled, spooked,or scared. The people in this show are more relatable to most or someone in the family some just do not want to admit it. These people make me feel at home and I am not ashamed to say it. I rather watch them then some of this housewife mess on TV. They have fun doing what they do and it makes me smile and chuckle on every show. Some of the sayings I have heard from some of the elders in the neighborhood back in the day .

This show to me is good. I get some people don't like it because they One don't like southerns for no reason or two think these guys are a joke. ya they have humor, which you need, ya they freak out which who don't. that is one thing you hear everyone complain about show with ghost hunting. oh they are over reacting then say that most people don't reacting. Yes we do. If you don't when you are their shoes it because you don't really believe in ghost or monsters. they have a good family to run with.

Duck Dynasty meets Ghost Hunters....
mark-32172 May 2013
This is show surprised me, I was expecting a carbon copy of Ghost Hunters but actually I really enjoyed it. It had all the usual elements of ghost shows; gadgets, EVP's, spooky images, etc... But what this show brings that the others lack is the eccentric and unique southern personalities (aka Redneck, which as a fellow redneck I appreciate and love) of the team. Hart, the show's "Godfather" is hilarious with his sayings and very intriguing with his Cajun superstitions and his unique way of investigating. Randy, the "Daredevil" has a very 'take-charge' personality and often acts as the antagonist to provoke the spirits to interact with the team and as a rule experiences more paranormal events than the others. Keith, the "Rock Star" brings a down to earth feel to it and his beautiful guitar playing and singing feature in most episodes, his playing reminiscent of Lynard Skynard (not surprising given his appearance). Several times the spirits interact while he plays his guitar and hums. Keith also narrates the show and wrote and performs the theme song. The other members of the team are also good, but slightly forgettable, hence me not having much to say about them. All and all the show comes across as honest and brings a southern charm to the field of paranormal investigation; this is the first such show I've seen that featured mud-bogging, for example. While this new series is only 3 or 4 episodes deep so far, I feel this is going to be one of my favorite SyFy shows. If you get a kick out of Ghost Hunters or Duck Dynasty give Deep South Paranormal a try. You won't be disappointed.

You have to be joking!!
OMG aside from now having to live among the ignorant down here in good ol tenn. I now get to watch the train wreck on T.V. They are just proving, to everyone that doesn't already know, just how ignorant the people down here are. You can really tell who is from this twilight zone just by reading their reviews. Only a southern woman would think any of these guys are good looking. Good God!!! I'm totally dumb founded. No pun intended! The future leaders of the republican party! They don't even live in the 21st century. Thy are still fighting the civil war. It makes me wonder if when they do their reenactments if they make it so they win. Bad news fellas no matter how you look at it you lost. And thank the good lord for that.
